Great Hotel and Staff, Eclectic Location
B' real Dec 14, 2009
Hotel has been extremly under rated. Location is close to everything, rooms and amenities are eco- friendly, continental ... breakfast with a view, outstanding. Fresh sheets, fluffy towels and minty fresh toiletries. Ellis street does have some homeless shelters so if your affraid of homeless people :( Don't go to San Francisco! Front desk makes guests aware of homeless shelter locations and advises which streets to go on to avoid them. Will always return to Cova and recommend it to others.

My husband and & I stayed 3 nights at the Cova in November 2009 and loved it. The Staff were really helpful regarding seeing ... the sights and whats happening in town whilst we were there. We had a fantastic stay. Only 7min walk to Union Square for shopping and cable cars. Plenty of dining options close by too. Cova had a complimentary bus that's available to take guests to Fisherman's Wharf every 4hrs and Union Square every hour upon request too that hardly anyone uses.

Nothing to fault, great hotel
New York visitor Nov 16, 2009
We stayed for one night and our experience in this hotel was excellent. The rooms were spacious, the service was good, check ... out time was at noon and breakfast served until 11am (very generous!) and personally I've stayed in the Tenderloin before so the area didn't bother me at all. Very nice hotel.

Mexasian Oct 21, 2009
The hotel was nice and very clean and safe inside but overall, really bad location when I saw the prostitutes by my window. ... When I booked the trip and drove to the hotel, valet ran up and gave us terrible and high rates for parking at the hotel. Plus the hallway smelt like silly smoke. No air conditioning and tiny cups of water in the fitness rooms. The complimentary breakfast was alright but should of had eggs and more meat. The staff in the breakfast area were not the nicest people either when I smiled and said "HI".

This is a great hotel and is located close to just about everything. We were in walking distance of AT&T Park, Modern Art ... Muesum and the hotel offered a shuttle down to the Pier. Also.. they were kind enough to drop us and our luggage right by the BART entrance. Great place!

We have taken our girls to SF for back to school shopping each year since the time they first had an opinion on the matter. ... Have stayed in several of the upscale hotels within the Union Square area and have now finally realized that getting past all the hype there are occasionally some real values to be had,the COVA being a glowing example.

sceptical location, nice hotel !!!!!
marathon runner Jul 31, 2009
The hotel was nice, but the location was not in a very good spot. The room was a little smaller than what we pictured ... according to the description, and pictures posted. It was a little ways away from most of the main areas of interest. We took the transit several times. The walk from the bus stop to the hotel was a little scary. This hotel is located in the Tenderloin of San Francisco, this is an area that is well saturated with homeless and very low income housing.I would not recommend walking alone in the evening. During the day it was fine.

A gem......A great fine in the city
business traveler Jul 27, 2009
A great hotel located in San Francisco. Some people might have an issue with the location since the hotel is sitting by the ... edge of Tenderloin area but it was fine for me. The hotel has a hourly shuttle to Union Square and a few times to Fisherman's Wharf. It was nice to find a hotel in this price range in the Civic Center area with spacious, recently modernized rooms. Staffs were great...very friendly. I will be back.

A gem!
Roseman May 29, 2009
It was nice to find a hotel in this price range in the Civic Center area with spacious, recently modernized rooms. Very ... quiet, except for some construction on the hotel entry, which should be finished soon. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Some guests may find the neighborhood unpleasant, as it's on the edge of the Tenderloin District. One odd shortcoming: there are no drawers in the room to put your underwear, etc., just a closet. Other than that, no complaints.

NW Florida Traveler May 29, 2009
Hotel staff was helpful and friendly through my 4 night stay. Room was very nice with flat panel TV, ipod dock alarm clock, ... and free wi-fi. Continental breakfast was nicely done with all the stuff I like (cereal, toast, waffles, milk, juice) without a bunch of stuff I never eat. Hotel has a free shuttle to many places in town.

Nice Room, Bad Neighborhood
SFF May 26, 2009
The rooms at the hotel were very nice. They were clean, and the decor was updated and tasteful. The neighborhood within a 4 ... block radius of the hotel is a little dangerous. During the day its fine to walk into Union Square, but at night, you definitely need to take a taxi. The staff at the hotel are somewhat unfriendly. You do not feel as if you are their number one priority. When I was there, the lobby was under renovation, which was expected. What was not expected was that the hotel restaurant was also under construction.

Great facilities
Maria Jimena Nov 4, 2008
The Cova Hotel was very comfortable, the room was very clean and organized, I liked the very modern look and the fact that it ... had a flat TV. The staff was very kind. The internet access was free of charge. Although the Hotel is located in a great area downtown, close to the main shopping center of San Francisco, the street where the hotel is located, which leads to Market street is dangerous at night, but an alternative way to get to the hotel through Geary St which was completely different worked for me.
Traveler type: Business
The main shopping center of the city is very close to the Hotel (Union Square), and also the Cable car station to go to fishermans wharf (Powell and Market). Taking the bus at Geary St, in front of a Lacoste store, you can go to Japan Town, very interesting visit and great restaurants.
