The Hotel is quite hard to find, while the address is 164-40,( the 164 usually indicates 164th street), however not in this ... case the Hotel is actually located on 165th street and not advertised going South to North. After arriving @ Hillside and 165th street it still took 20 minutes to find a path to enter the one-way street the Hotel is located on.The Hotel has very limited parking, (maybe 10 cars) and there's parking meters on the streets very close to the Hotel, ( oh I was informed that there 's payed parking on 165th before you get to the hotel). The rooms are not very large but somewhat nice, but do rise early, because the cleaning staff starts with outside cleaning noise around 9am!

Unless you are very experienced in driving in New York City (Manhattan) I would not venture there with a vehicle. Parking is either impossible to find, and the parking garages are VERY expensive. Use mass transit....the F Train (subway) is about 3 blocks away, and the Metrocard ($8.25 for all day) is the way to go.

Good for the price for NYC!
rockyptjoe Nov 17, 2009
Good for the price...a clean, convenient palace to stay, but nothing to get excited about. Having done enough business ... travel, in terms of the actual rooms, they were decent, the place was new or recently remodeled One very small elevator Location not the best, but did not feel unsafe VERY EASY access to mass transit---buses and F Train Onsite Parking VERY limited (approx. 6 spaces) Paid parking about 2 blocks away Minimal amenities...frig in room but no microwave, lcd tv but only analog signal with no channel guide, iron/hair dryer/coffee maker in room Supposedly has wifi/wired internet, but didn't check it out. One computer available in lobby for use. No restaurant on site...some fast food within walking distance, but no normal restaurants. Continental breakfast provided...but get there early! VERY NOISY location...near city bus terminal with continual bus traffic in front of hotel, work being done on streets with metal cover plates clanging all hours from traffic Although well mannered, the staff was not friendly/personable. (Owned/operated by Pakistanis....THE ENTIRE STAFF)

Good, clean, comfortable New York hotel.
Jimmy T Oct 27, 2009
For our quick two nights in NYC this affordable and comfortable location was great. Although close to a subway stop it is at ... least a 45 min. ride into Manhatten; the only drawback to this is planning your excursions with this time in mind. The neighborhood was clean and safe. The staffwas curteous and very helpful. Although I would call this a no frills hotel it offered a very comfortable bed and all essentials.

Grandma Oct 26, 2009
I took my grandsons to see the city I was born and raised in. The hotel location was poor. At check-in even though I had ... prepaid the hotel in full for two rooms and I was not permitted by the hotel staff to register for my grandsons room. One grandson had a very bad cough and I wanted to prepare the room for him before his arrival. The hotel is located in a questionable area, but is only two blocks from the subway. I also had other difficulty with the hotel staff and management.

BEWARE DECEITFUL PRACTICES! UNSAFE AREA
Experienced road warrior Oct 20, 2009
I booked 2 nights here based on the above shown, hotel supplied info. LIE #1,"10 min from LGA", TRUTH; It was 25min cab ride ... without traffic: LIE #2 "minutes from midtown on the Subway,2 blks away." TRUTH#2 Subway was 5 blocks for a ticket, and it took 1hr 20min to get to Bryant park in midtown. Front desk staff refused check-in until 4 pm and after I found out it was so far from Midtown I asked if i could stay just 1 night instead of 2. The mgr refused, I called Cheaptik and they called for me; he still refused. I tried again in person and the front desk staff just lied more, told me I was wrong and the time depended on how fast the subway driver went etc. I decided to just forfeit the room charge for the second day. I FOUND A NICER, NATIONAL BRAND HOTEL IN TIMES SQUARE FOR SAME PRICE. DON'T SUPPORT UNTRUTHFUL BUSINESSES, DON'T STAY HERE. It is your choice after all.

My girlfriend and I went to visit the city for the first time. We wanted something affordable and quiet. This place was ... perfect! We were 10 minutes from JFK and 2 blocks (4 min walk) from the subway station (40 min to Times Square). Hotels in Manhattan were 4x more expensive and not worth the money. Our room was very comfortable although I would suggest you request away from the elevator because you can hear the noise from it from our room which was right next to it. The subway station was 2 blocks away and the F train took us straight to Times Square. No need to catch a cab. Very friendly staff at the front desk. Visiting New York City, you will never stay in the hotel much, so this was a great deal!!! The hotel is located in Queens so don't expect beautiful outdoor surroundings. With that said, we walked back to the hotel from the subway station at 2am and had no problems. Can't be too picky! Hotel amenities smell wonderful as well. 42 inch flat screen tv's were great after a long day of sightseeing.

Buy an unlimited ride MetroCard from the Subway Station. The machine takes cash and credit card. Subway system is all you need in NYC!!! You can take the Airtrain from JFK to the Jamaica Station (only stop, can't get lost), and from there catch some subways to the F train. The MetroCard is a time and money saver!!!

Very friendly & responsive staff, nice comfy clean rooms, flat screen tv with cable, nice coffee with breakfast and if you ... leave something behind, they'll keep it for you. close to subway (about 20 mins to midtown) and access to local stores. I liked it because it's clean and provides everything the weary traveller needs. They try hard to please which is a lot more that can be said about those $300+ per night midtown hotels.

nice hotel, long commute into city
NYC family traveler Sep 25, 2009
We stayed here b/c of other reviews posted about this hotel. It was a very nice hotel with a great light breakfast in the ... morning. The location was okay, it took about 45m-1hr on the subway to reach NYC. Rooms are very small, the size of a large bedroom, we brought a pack-n-play for our infant and the space was kinda tight. We stayed on the 7th floor and still had quite a lot of street noise. It is a small hotel, maybe 6-7 rooms/floor. The neighborhood is very questionable but if you're just using the room to sleep and spending all your time in the city, it's for you!
