Offsite conference lodging
Steve C. Nov 18, 2009
We were attending a conference in downtown Denver and were looking for a economical alternative. Hotel VQ was a great site ... is only a couple of miles from downtown and it is easy to drive yourself or arrange for the FREE Hotel VQ shuttle service to take you. The rooms were well kept and the staff was very friendly. The room was a little small but met all our needs. There are not many restruants within walking distance but several are a very short drive away. You are literally in the Backyard of INESCO field and this would be a great location if you have tickets. There was always ample FREE parking and FREE internet. Overall I am very happy with the hotel. One complaint, very noisy garbage truck between 5-6:30am. Although it is close to the Freeway I did not notice any traffic noise...but then again I don't have the best hearing.

At arrival there was no water in the building do to water line repairs. The front desk worker gave us the wrong key for the ... wrong room on the wrong floor. The room was quit small and the remark was made that it was straight out of the 80's. The fitness center closed early as did the bar and grill located in the hotel. On the plus side they had a free shuttle to take our party to the Pepsi center.

Take the free shuttle's to events to save on the expensive and crowded parking.

Looks can be deceiving
Future Dietitian Oct 22, 2009
My college classmates and I traveled to Denver for 5 days to attend a conference. This hotel was economically convienient for ... us. Upon arrival, the lobby was beautifully arranged with decor and freshness, complimentary candies and water, and a welcoming staff. As soon we I got up to our room and walked in, it smelled horrible and it was stuffy. We called the front desk, but they said there was nothing they could do about the smell. So we had to buy air fresheners ourselves to solve the problem. Then when we tried turning on the AC to cool, and it would only blow out warm air. When we told the front desk, again there was nothing they could do so we had to sleep uncomfortablly in small beds in a warm room. Then one of the days we got back to our hotel, a light bulb blew out. It took a while for someone to come in and replace it. The fitness room was also pretty small and smelly. We also didn't like that the hotel shuttle stopped running at 11pm. It would have been nice if they could at least run it later on the weekends. We really expected the stay to be better after entering the nice lobby, but that's as far as the "niceness" went.

Worst part of a great trip Sep 30, 2009
When we checked in, we were told that the King sized bed that I had reserved and paid in advance for was no longer available. ... Instead of being gracious about it, the concierge [...], was very curt and unaccomodating. [...] This hotel is OK enough to sleep in, but it is noisy and cramped. The first shuttle driver was very rude, but the subsequent drivers were very nice. Again, only stay at this hotel as a last resort...they don't care in the slightest about your stay.

Disappointed Sep 25, 2009
From the pictures that I saw on the site the hotel looked nice. When I arrived it was much different. Though the staff was ... friendly it could not make up for the fact that the hotel is old and run down. The rooms have not been renovated in some time and appeared dirty even though the cleaning staff had just been through the room I was in. I ended up checkeing out and coming to get assistance from Orbitz. I am not normally a picky traveler and have stayed in less then five star resorts, but this had to have been one of the worst I could have picked. Avoid at all costs!! Thank you to Orbitz staff that made the situation right as needed.

It was ok, just hardly water pressure, then the pipes started squealing like they would explode. The room was nice, the beds ... were a little hard. Great view of Downtown Denver. It was the best for the Bronco game we went to we just walked to the stadium. :) Then it was only 5 mins from the Rockies game we went to the next night. :)The restaurant upstairs had good food, not much on the menu tho... Overall it was an OK experience.

Mass transit is great in Denver. The shuttle takes you to prime shopping and dining areas. Then busses run every 3-5 min on the shopping strips- free. Parking is outrageous during the day- $18 downtown. The signs are misleading and indicate $7-8. Be careful!
