For the price, it was a great deal. I came in June, so Im pretty sure it would have been more expensive during tourist ... season. I had to go to Tampa Airport, and that was not difficult to get to. I only stayed one night. Alot to do within the resort and around town. I would stay there again.

Wonderful vacation
Mom May 25, 2009
This is a beautiful hotel in a sleepy little town close to Clearwater. We loved the downtown which is steps from the ... Resort. The location of the resort is beautifully situated on Tampa Bay and the views are fantastic. It rained the whole time we were there, but this did not dampen our enthusiasm. I took my adult daughter for a very satisfying few days of R&R. We loved the classes and all of the resort amenities. The spa is currently undergoing some renovations which will make it even better, however the work currently being done did not interfere with our activities there whatsoever. We'll definitely plan to go back to this facility again!

great location and amenities. the pool was great but it was filled with 10-15 small screaming children at any given point. I ... was unaware that the neighboring residents could buy membership and bring their children at any time. They were not properly supervised and ruined the stay for the hotel guests!

Restful Place
TravelMom Mar 9, 2009
This hotel is in a wonderful location, in a small, quiet town but only 20 minutes away from Tampa and the Gulf Coast ... beaches. A spa and pool are located in the hotel. My only complaints were that the hotel was not fully renovated, as had been claimed, and some areas (hallways, stairways and rooms)could use some work. Also, the hotel appeared to be short-staffed: there was seldom a bellman on duty and housekeeping could have been more diligent. Overall, I would stay here again if the rates compared very favorably to other area hotels.

Kathy Mar 3, 2009
The hotel had lost a little of it's ambiance........last year there was soothing music softly playing in all the ... hallways....this year, just in the first floor outside the spa. It also had a bad odor in the first floor hallway......last year, it had the scent of gardenias or some other light fragrance. The staff, however, remains wonderful--pleasant, friendly, and accommodating. Safety Harbor is charming. The Athens restaurant is just one block from the hotel on Main Street. Good food and very reasonably priced. The location is great. It's easy to get anywhere from Safety Harbor.

A Fabulous Place to Relax
diane Mar 3, 2009
the resort is beautiful and the rooms are wonderful. there is very little storage space, though. we had a lovely room with a ... door that went out to a beautiful garden. the resort is within walking distance of the safety harbor town, which is very quaint. there is a dock right beside it that has manatees feeding if the conditions are right. many people fish off the dock there. the only thing i didn't like was when we got there we were told there was an additional fee for the use of the spa. that included the indoor pool, hot tub, machines and classes..minimal, but i felt nickled and dimed. the fee is new. but i will stay there again. the room was very comfortable...big plush bed and beautiful linens, and something new was the third friday night of the month is Safety harbor night. the street closes down and it's like a mini street fair... very nice

It is a beautiful location. The room was large but seemed old. Hallways were extremely hot. Long, long walk to the room ... from the front desk. very chopped up. Bathrooms need updating. Everyone was very nice but we would not stay there again. There are options close by that would cost less and are more modern. This needs a huge renovation, in my opinion.

Absolute and Total Luxury
Kimberlee Jun 8, 2008
The Safety Harbor Pool and Spa was exquisitely luxurious. It put me in mind of the old movies where all the beautiful people ... go to spas and are waited on hand and foot in gorgeous, opulent surroudings. We immediately felt that our experience was going to be positive when we entered the hotel through an immaculately maintained, Spanish inspired portico which led through French doors into a grand foyer where the carpets were deep and plush in a relaxing shade of green with white lattice and magnolia pattern. The cool air in the entrance hallway was scented with mint, and the front desk was marble. A pleasing oddity was a carpeted ramp which ran from the first to the second level instead of a main staircase (elevators ARE available). Its windows looked out onto a Spanish garden replete with brick patio, a huge, 3-tiered fountain and palm trees. The room itself was huge, and there was a king-sized walnut (or cherry or some kind of very old and very not-veneer wood) sleigh bed with a 6-inch high (no, really) pristinely white comforter and 4 (not 2) gigantic white pillows. The TV armoire was almost ceiling height and, like the bed, nightstands and armchair -- not cheap and modern looking. Speaking of the defensive-lineman-sized armchair, it was upholstered in richly colored tapestry and partnered with an equally huge ottoman. The desktop was marble, and the lamps were old world. Separate from the bathroom (which had an amazing tub and shower combination)was a dressing room with its own sink and brocade upholstered stool for the vanity. But the ABSOLUTE BEST PART was the balcony which was accessed by a French door arrayed in billowing sheers which were framed by brocade draperies. It was sheer heaven to sit on the balcony in the evening breeze from Tampa Bay. The staff was courteous and extremely helpful, and we wished we were there for more than a weekend so that we could try out all the pools, fitness classes, and spa treatments.

Relax in a quiet little town
George Apr 14, 2008
Found a treasure at Safety Harbor. Recently remodeled rooms are a treat. Nice linens on new matresses and great view of the ... bay from balcony rooms. There are extensive offerings from the spa. All types of services are listed. The pool is filled with natural spring water from five springs on the premises. There are three pools on the premises; indoor, outdoor and a lap pool. Grilled fish sandwich at the poolside was excellent. Only, comlaint is that they needed more waite staff at poolside. Suggest going directly to pool bar to place orders. Live music was at both the outdoor pool and dinner restaurant. Several restaurants in the quaint downtown area (walking distance) and also enjoyed dining outside by the fountain at the hotel's restaurant. The food was excellent and service kind and friendly. Many sidewalks along the waterway to take that needed stroll. There is valet parking but it isn't necessary as the hotel parking lot is next to valet and just a few steps to your car from the hotel.

A Piece of Paradise

After several Florida vacations at beachfront hotels, we (mom and dad, 14 year-old son and 9 year-old daughter) were looking ... for something more laid-back and relaxing. The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa was fabulous!! The view of Tampa Bay from our room was spectacular, the pool area wonderful, the downtown quiet and charming, and the staff so friendly and helpful. I'll recommend this hotel to everyone -it's outstanding!!

We absolutely loved the upgrade to this property. We were here 4 years ago and returned to celebrate our anniversary. What we ... experienced was luxury with a pinch of southern hospitality. A Quiet Haven
KELLY Mar 13, 2008
The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa was again a great success. I had visited 2 years ago and was well pleased though ... renovations were on going then. The renovations are complete and the hotel looks and feels brighter and newer. I had 2 college aged girls with me and they enjoyed participating in the spa activities-such as pilates and jazzercise to salsa music. We all took a ballroom dancing class and learned the salsa and tango. I enjoyed watching the aquatic exercise classes from the comfort of my poolside lounge chair. My husband who is an avid golfer was well pleased with the choices of golf courses within a reasonable drive. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable. It would be nice if each room had a mini-fridge and microwave in it,but they could be rented on a daily basis if it is critical. The business center is behind the front desk so you have to ask to use it if you need it as there is only one computer. Cell phone reception is very spotty in the town and in the spa which is frustrating. All in all, it was a great visit. I like it best for the peace and quiet I find there, along with options for exercise and nice safe places for walks or biking.

We spent two days at the spa to celebrate our anniversary, and I would stay again tomorrow if I could!!! We did not want to ... return to civilization. We had a room with a view of the bay in the tower. It was the 6th floor, and we had panoramic views of the bay, the grounds, and the tennis courts. The room was beautiful and quiet. We had a king size bed (very comfy). Staff was very helpful and courteous. We enjoyed the room so much, that we ordered room service for two days. The food was great. Steaks cut like butter, and the lamb was to die for! Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay for the price, and we plan to return on our next trip to the Tampa Bay area......Great find!!!!
