nice hotel, not so nice area

The hotel & spa were very nice. The staff was always friendly. Unless you want to go wine tasting, you really don't have to ... leave the premises for anything. When you do leave, you definitely have to travel about 40+ minutes to Healdsburg (recommended) or 20 minutes to Sonoma to even consider walking around or shopping not to mention wine tasting.

Ask the valet for the short cut around the middle of downtown Sonoma if you are in a hurry to go to Napa vineyards.

The Big 3 is one of the hotel restaurants and has an excellent, reasonably priced breakfast. The lemon pancakes are as delicious as reported.

Great Romantic Get-away
Loren Sep 15, 2008
The Sonoma Mission Inn was an overall great experience. The room was beautiful, staff was friendly, and the amenities were ... wonderful. The pool and spa area was an unforgetable experience for both my wife and myself. The only draw back was the town of Sonoma/Agua Caliente completely closes down by 10 pm, so late night dinning is very limmited. Other than that it was a Perfect anniversary trip for us.

Setting and Amenities

Unless you join the Presidents club, you get nickle dimed on any added items, i.e. use of the SPA soaking pools, etc. The ... restaurant was as expected, expensive and the food was superb. Very small rooms, typical of the old hotels that have been remodeled time and again. They simply try to jam too much into a small room in the way of table top items.

relaxing get-away
JERRY Aug 22, 2007
When we arrived at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, we were impressed with the old Spanish Mission style architecture of the ... hotel and the courteous hospitality of the whole staff. Our room was pleasantly larger and more comfortable than we have experienced in the past from other hotels. Having the use of the Hot Springs Spa on the hotel grounds was something we appreciated and looked forward to at the end of each day that we spent touring the Sonoma and Napa wineries.

The hotel offers free wine tasting daily and has a fine dining restaurant located next to the lobby. The convenience of a cafe which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner is just a short walk from the hotel as well as other local ethnic places to eat.

Great spa get a way!
Heidi Apr 12, 2007
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn is a fantastic place to destress and leave your worries behind. The Spa facilities are top ... rate, with every imaginable treatment. Staff is very pleasant, treat you like royalty, and attend to every detail. Although the hotel has been around for a long time, it has been recently renovated, combining he best of both worlds. The grounds are beautiful, mature, and meticulously cared for. Guests walk from spa to hotel in their white robes and slippers without the blink of an eye. I only changed out of my swimsuit and robe for yoga and going to dinner. After three days, I felt like a new person! Many surprising details, like complimentary bottle of wine, robes and slippers in your room, free wine tasting in the lobby in the evening, complimentary bottled water when you leave. A great place to go with girlfriends, your sweetheart, or even all by yourself. A little pricey, but worth every penny!

Take advantage of the free guided hikes or yoga/exercise classes. If you use the spa, be sure to get directions on how to do the 'Bathing Ritual'- it really helps to get your relaxation started!
