Not so great weekend getaway! Jan 30, 2010
Well we watched a room service tray sit in the hallway for a day and a half. It looked like the cleaning personnel had ... dropped someone's trash from their restroom and left out there. I just expect more if I am going to pay just over 200 bucks a night! I expected a luxurious bathroom, didn't get that. My bathroom at home was way more luxurious. I expect to have atleast a 2-cup coffee maker in my room but instead I had to go downstairs to the coffee shop and pay for coffee that was marked about 40% compared to the same coffee shop in town by my house and I live on the island!! Really?! That is so rediculous when there is a hotel across the street that charges about 40 bucks less a night has a nicer bath, bigger room and has a coffemaker and free homemade gourmet cookies for you when you check in. Oddly enough the other hotel is considered to be of less quality and is owned by same company. HOW CAN THAT BE?!?!

We walked down to the beach front area where all of the shopping and restaurants were and had dinner at Wofgang Puck's! The food and staff were awesome. It was a little pricey but well worth the experience. Expet to drop a quick 200 but expect an awesome dinner for two.

The Hilton was a perfect place to stay in Honolulu. They are very accessible to shopping and restaurants, one of the best ... locations in Honolulu. The property itself had all the amenities you could want, such as; shopping, restaurants, their own beach and several pools. There is even a medical facility on the property. Our concierge did not seem to know the area that well, but they have the American Express desk to book tours and such and they are very good.

The hotel is really nice and convenience. We don't have to go outside. There are a lot of activities in the hotel. We can ... just walk to the beach and few swimming pool in the hotel. A lot of shops and restaurant in the hotel area. A great place to stay!! The only thing we didn't really comfortable is the noise in the hotel room is kind of loud. Great Location!
Baker boy Jan 15, 2010
This resort is in a great location. It is in walking distance to Wakiki beach. Bus and Trolley stops are right outside the ... entrance. However, this is a big family getaway for many families. It is noisy and most of the kids were not supervised by their parents. I wish there was a kid-free zone somewhere on this 22 acre lot. The starlight luau was a waste of time and money. It is dinner theatre at best. Again the kids were up and down and no one stopped them from running into the performers. I would like to know where the staff was to control the situation? The resort was clean but noisy.

Don't go the the Luau in the hotel. Try to find one outside the resort. There are many that are more authentic and reasonably priced.

My experience
Peter Jan 14, 2010
This was my first trip out to Hawaii and to the island of Oahu. Our friends recommended us to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian ... Village as they love the hotel. During check in we were upgraded to the Tapa tower from the Diamond Head tower. Boy what a good deal the Tapa tower was much better and newer. Don't be fooled by the picture posted for the hotel, they have multiple towers the main one you see is the Lagoon tower, I was expecting to stay there but apparantly this was not the case. Nonetheless we didn't have any complaints with the hotel. The location is great the property has multiple resturants and the infamous "ABC" store (Will save you $ on alcohol and munchies). We were walking distance to many other shops and resturants. The trolley ride to Ala Moana mall only took about 15 mins. Overall I would stay here again definately the condos at the timeshares they were nice!

I love to walk on the beach and to get away from Waikiki's main area to find some peace but still be close to the action if I ... want to be part of it. The board walk along the beach should be extended to connect Outrigger and Royal Hawaiian Hotel to avoid ahving to walk in the sand. But this is an issue for the city council or developers, I am afraid. I love the park next to HHV and the Barefoot Bar on the beach: very relaxing.

Great place to stay!
TJ & CJ Jan 12, 2010
We had a great time at the Hilton. The restaurants, pool, bars and beach were all great. They had a fireworks show on ... Friday night where everyone sat on the beach to watch them explode over the ocean. The food was very good at the restaurants and they made great Mai Tais and Kokomokos at the bar. What topped off the experience for us was the hospitality room the Hilton had available for us. We weren't flying home until 10pm Saturday. We checked out of our room, checked our bags and sat by the pool most of the day. We reserved a (complimentary) hospitality room that we could use for 40 minutes to shower and change clothes before leaving for the airport. Very nice.
Traveler type: Couples
Every where in Hawai'i the prices are high. We were paying $10 for drinks and $8 for beers at the bars. Since the Hilton had an ABC convenience store on their property, we bought some beer and wine and drank on our balcony for six times less than what we pay at the bar. Nice way to end the evening.

Saddend by the decline of service
MacMan Jan 12, 2010
January 11, 2010Christopher J. Nassetta , President Hilton Hotels7930 Jones Branch Dr. Suite 1100McLean Virginia, 22102Dear ... Mr. Nassetta; After visiting the Hawaiian Islands for over 15 years and traveling the world since 1984, spending my money at Hilton locations, I'm saddened to write this letter to you. My recent stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (HHV) was outrageous and I'm upset and still shocked at the service I received while there with my girlfriend Joyce Slusser. I started my trip out with a delay Dec 26, 2009, I called HHV to advise them that my flight would be an hour or so late. The desk person was friendly and told me that it was not a problem arriving around midnight, your hotel was NOT at capacity my room would be there when I got there. I got to HHV aproxemantly 12:15 a.m. Dec 27th. There was a line which was not a problem for us, waiting patiently for 15min our turn came up we were waved to the counter only to be told that she was going home and we needed to get in the other line. I asked her why not put up a sign; give us some kind of warning that she could not serve us. Her response was "all I have to say is I'm going home" so go to the other line for check in. Her tone was curt; she waved us and the others behind us off and left the area. The 3 families that were in her service line joined the 10 or so people in line for the second time. Our turn came up again we waited for the lady who was open, to wave us up she looked at us and said" I'm busy but if you want to stand at the counter I will get to you". She was folding papers and aligning her work area, talking to the other desk person who was doing the same thing and chatting about names for her baby this woman whose name I think was [...] was in the late stages of pregency. We waited for a few minutes she finally asked us for the normal paper work, I gave it gladly, and she asked my girlfriend if her last name was the same as mine. My girlfriends response was why that is important and after an uncomfortable few seconds I chirped in and replied No, gave my girlfriends name Joyce Slusser and asked her to be placed in the system so she could shop and charge to the room. I handed her my [...] conformation sheet when she saw it she said," Oh my god another [...]" I asked her if something was wrong she didn't reply at all, my girlfriend asked her again is something wrong with our reservation finally your employee responded "I guess not". I gave my credit card as security as I have done hundreds of times without an employee telling me when my card expired, her words "It's No Good In June" Thinking that this must be one of those TV shows I laughed it off and said well in 6 months they can have it. She laid the packet on the on the counter and pointed in the air your tower is over there. I said as we parted that I was looking forward a nice time, hoped the room was nice; she shrugged her shoulders and resumed talking baby names to the other employee. As we got a bellmen to help us we were greeted by a very nice guy standing a few feet from the desk, who's first words were you should speak to the night manager that was very disrespectful. On our way to the room the bellmen stop and said "Oh she messed up", this is a hospitality room, you don't belong here. He opened the door to a poorly lit room that was dingy, carpet stained and smelled of mold I picked up the phone but it didn't work. He asked us to wait, trying the other phone he called the desk, we witnessed a heated exchange between the bellman and the desk worker. The bellman turned and asked us to return to the desk, I asked for the phone to talk with the woman but she had hung up. We walked back from the Diamond tower to the desk, I once again waited for the same lady who was still playing with desk items and writing baby names on a tablet to call us up. Once she did I told her a mistake was made and this room will not work, she stated that I could pay for a better room. I informed her that I w...

Altghough a resort, the prices were not all that bad. The one thing that really surprised us not used to tipping was that a ... 16,5 % tip was "conveniently added" to the restaurant bill! I thought I was supposed to decide what it was worth? The resort itself was very convenient and relaxing. All the beautiful plants and lovely animals really made an impression. The rooms in the diamond head tower were ok. Not great but ok. The age of the place is starting to show. The fitness center we were allowed to use (in the Kalia tower) was a big disappointment. I've seen better at Holiday Inn expresses. The pools were great, especially at the Kalia tower where there were less children. Also the lagoon is very nice and the fireworks at the beach on Friday should not be missed. All in all not perfect but good. Next time we will try another hotel though.

Hotel was very nice. Rooms average not outstanding-no microwave ovens-had to request towels daily after the second day-had to ... pay additional for beach chairs and everyone came down early to save their pool chairs-hotel self contained everything on site-easy walk down town-everyone was very nice but they had limits on your requests-pools did close early at 5pm each day-concieger services were helpful when we requested directions to interested areas-but no additional discounts to book through them-hotel activities were not made posted where you could plan around the hotel-we were told to go to the lobby and look up activities daily-we chose to go off site for New Years Eve-it would be nice to have a daily activity listing for guests

My husband and I both loved this hotel but, because we went at Christmas time, there were so many children there. The staff ... was very helpful whenever you had a question. The location can't be beat if you like the beach. I would suggest eating somewhere other than the hotel to save a little money. The ABC store has everything you need. The room was nice and clean and the housekeeping staff was good about getting the room done early. The laua was nice, but they sat my husband and I at a table with 6 people that didn't speak english and then they want you to get to know the people you are sitting with. I didn't care much for the food at the laua, I think you are paying for the entertainmentrather than the food.
