Our Stay @ Dream Inn
Amburoth Oct 14, 2009
After a long trip in from CT it was extremely pleasant to walk in the front door and be greeted warmly by the lobby staff. ... They recommened "Hawgs" for dinner, which was very satisfying. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant with its wonderful views was also good. We spent an entire afternoon at the pool/hot tub. We also visited Big Basin Redwood Forest, which we highly recommend. The downtown area was very busy at night, lots of young college kids around. It was great to see them enjoying themselves. We saw an impromptu salute to Michel Jackson's "Thriller". All in all we had a wonderful stay. The boardwalk area appeared closed during the week, but the rides were open on the weekend.

THE TRIP WAS GREAT. HOTEL LOCATION TO THE BOARDWALK AND FISHERMANS WARF WAS GREAT. THE ONLY THING WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH WAS ... A VERY EXPENSIVE RESTRAUNT WE WENT TO THAT YOU TAKE A LITTLE ELEVATOR TO GET INTO. WE HAD RESERVATIONS AND STILL HAD TO WAIT FOR AT LEAST 30 MIN. THEN WE HAD TO GO DOWN 3 LEVELS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PLACE TO FINLY SIT DOWN. FOOD WAS OK.

Best Santa Cruz Experience
California Dreamer Sep 8, 2009
We stayed for Labor Day Weekend. The hotel was certainly more costly than the others, but when you get there you realize why. ... You are literally on the beach listening to the waves from your hotel room. The pool area was absolutley great durring the day (very resort like). The staff is very accomadatinng. Be sure to get down to that pool early on a busy summer day! The hotel also had a very convienient shower/wash room entrance to the beach. That is super convienient for kids! This hotel also has a lot of historic appeal (the pool is very 50s style), but it is almost nostalgic. The rooms are a little small, but very clean and decorated wonderfully! Overall, it was by far the best experience I have ever had in Santa Cruz and I travel there a lot. (You really don't want to leave the hotel).

R. S. Aug 15, 2009
We stayed 1 night at the Dream Inn so we could attend Papa Doo Run Run's concert at Bands on the Beach at the Boardwalk, as ... well as have a night away from the kiddies at home. The hotel was the perfect place to stay--very nice room, comfy bed, great view, and just a quick walk to the boardwalk. The hotel didn't require a 2-night stay on a Friday night, which was great news, cuz we couldn't have afforded it! If you want to stay in a nice place within walking distance of the boardwalk, your choices are very limited. You definitely get what you pay for. Although I was cringing over the price, it was the best choice for the type of getaway we wanted.

Great ocean views - perfect location
Santa Cruz traveller Aug 8, 2009
The best hotel in the Santa Cruz area, with ocean views, access to the beach, boardwalk and wharf. The pool area overlooks ... the beach and is one of the best parts of the hotel, but it is difficult to find anywhere to sit because they allow people to reserve pool seating with towels thrown over the chairs even when they are not using it. Overall, a great place to stay.

Perfect getaway for couples. There is no better location in Santa Cruz. You are on the beach. We loved that we could keep ... our window open and hear the breakers at night. The room was wonderful. It all all amenities including free WiFi and a USB charger (for you techie types). Do not miss the hotel restaurant, Aquarius. The halibut and hanger steak were marvelous. It is an up scale restaurant, but worth the money. The staff were first rate and very helpful. You don't need to order room service the night before. You can order it in the morning and get your breakfast 15 minutes later. Finally do visit the funky downtown of Santa Cruz. There are one-of-a-kind shops and interesting people watching.

Treat yourself to the Boardwalk. Yes its cheesy, but how often do you an your spouse get to ride a rollercoaster.

18th Birthday Bash
Sabrina May 26, 2009
It was everything we expected in a Hotel, great servie and very clean rooms. We had a total of 4 in our paty. One 17 year ... old, two 18 year olds and one adult. We celebrated my daughters 18th B-day. Her other friends joined us at the beach for volleyball and frisbe for the day. Later that night the girls went to the boardwalk. The next day we took a walk on the pier and had some hot chocolate and chowder, yum. The only issue was the cold weather, good ol' mother nature, and the water was contaminated. :) Obviously no one has control over that. I would love to stay there again with the family. There is so much to do without getting everyone back in the car and driving.

The staff was friendly and accomodating. We were there for our 4 month daughter's Baptisim and traveled from Texas. They ... checked us in early so we could get ready. The FREE valet parking was incredible (please tip well!!!!!). Even the room service & the honor bar prices were fair. Security. Then there is the view.

Great location, Great renovations.
Mary Sep 8, 2008
The Dream Inn Santa Cruz is completing what appears to be an extensive renovation. The Dream Inn is right on the beach, an ... easy walk to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, and every room seems to have excellent ocean views. Our room was clean, the bed was comforable, the bathroom was nice and well-stocked (including bathrobes!), the hotel staff was knowledgeable and gave great advice on area activites and routes. The room featured two flatscreen TV's and laptop hookups. The elevators to our 9th floor tower suite were fast and the hotel seemed to be at near capacity for the weekend's area events. All very modern. My only complaint was the large quantity of honor bar items. I refused the key to the refrigerator, but found that a key was in the lock when I got to the room. Also, a large tray of snacks that remained unused for our stay and was so large that it was in the way. We'll see if they're honest with their honor bar. It's too soon. No restaurant as yet, so I'd recommend the Santa Cruz Diner on Ocean Street (it's a drive, but worth it) for breakfast. Great selection of seafood restaurants on the boardwalk a short walk away.
