Great Location!
Hometown Traveler Dec 1, 2009
Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but nice and very clean. We had a total of 6 room keys ... and only 1 worked so that was frustrating but not a deal breaker. You have to realize that you are paying for the ROOM ONLY. There are no frills or extras offered. However, you can't beat the location especially for that price. We were happy and comfortable here.

I had stayed at this hotel before so when I checked into my room this time, I was shocked to see how small it was. My ... boyfriend and I were there for our 8 year anniversary so I was not content with a tiny room. I requested an upgrade, which I was granted for an additional $40.00. I ended up paying the normal listed price for the room. The larger room was great, nice view, spotless, and roomy. However, the fact that the hotel was not classy enough to provide an upgrade for free was a bit of a turn off for us. Also, when we checked out, it was simply thank you. No questions pertaining to our stay or not even a "thanks for choosing this hotel." Those small little things leave a big impression. Bottom line, [...] is good if your content with a tiny room with a horrible view.

Not a 4 star hotel
College Dude Nov 28, 2009
It was rated and priced at a four star hotel, really nothing special. Location was too up north on Michigan ave, could have ... got a good 3 star hotel more in the middle of Michigan Ave. No basic health (razor, toothbrush) was provided in the bathroom.

Try State St/Ontario Street a few blocks down.

Our experience
#84 Nov 9, 2009
The hotel is in an excellent location! Short distance from everything! Dining, shopping, etc. The rooms were plain. Nothing ... really extravangant to look at. The bed was really comfortable with the down bedding. Tv was a flat screen but small. The staff were really friendly but it was extremely noisy outside! We heard about 10 ambulances right outside the hotel, that's when we noticed that we were also walking distance from the hospital(bummer);(..

Avenue Hotel Chicago
Sean Oct 29, 2009
The hotel was great. Very nice room (we were upgraded to a Suite at no charge) and a great location (just off the ... Magnificant Mile). Only complaint was that the air conditioner was sensored and only turned on if you were in the room. Great idea, except when you've been walking around downtown Chicago in close to 90 degree weather, then have to wait a half hour or more for your room to cool down.

Snobby & Unwelcome Staff
Hybrid Couple Sep 30, 2009
We were there for a "stay-cation" and the staff had a terrible attitude, not welcoming at all. When I checked in, no one ... welcomed me, and they do not smile or thank you for your business. The hotel itself was fine...trendy, nothing special. They have free parking for hybrid vehicles, and did not mention this to us (we drive a Prius). [...] I can't handle bad customer service...it put a damper on our relaxing weekend.

Great location, spacious room
Dani Sep 21, 2009
Arrived at the hotel around 1pm, they let us check even though were early. Check-in was fast and painless. Our room was a ... corner king suite on the 36th floor, we were high enough to be above the city noise. Great views of Michigan Avenue and the city, windows to the south and west, lots of natural light. Room was very spacious for the city, we could easily stay here with our daughter, lots of space, 2 closets. Doors fully separate the living area from the bedroom as well, which was nice, a true suite, no half walls here. Bathroom was small but adequate and looked to be recently remodeled. The shower head was very high, which we greatly appreciated, no stooping. 2 tvs, in the bedroom and the living area. Seating in the living area for 4, plus a desk and coffee area. There was a stocked min bar as well. Location was fantastic, 1 block off Michigan, right in the middle of the mag mile, tons of shopping and dining options.
