My Hotel Experience
Friends on vacation Oct 14, 2009
We needed to go to downtown St. Louis daily during our stay and the location I felt was not suitable. Our room was at the ... back of the hotel and the doors to enter had locks to insert your room key for access but they were not locked so anyone could walk in which I fell compromised security. There were always people outside the door smoking you had to walk past in order to get in. They advertise they have a fitness room, but with every piece of equipment broken and unsafe to even try to use it should be closed.

my Dad's "bucket list" vacation stay
JJ Oct 1, 2009
My dad wanted to ride on a paddlewheel boat on the Mississippi before he "kicked the bucket" and this was a wonderful home ... base to do that and see the St Louis Arch as a bonus. The shuttle service was A+ and the drivers were quick to make top notch suggestions for restaurants. The complementary evening drink and first class breakfast made our stay a pleasure. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, too.

The rooms were not very clean but the staff was always helpful when we needed something. Internet service is not good. They ... only have wireless in the public areas and they have ethernet cables but the one they gave me didn't work and I tried mine and it wouldn't work either. I think there was a problem with the wall outlet. Maintenance is not high on their list. There were a lot of things that needed fixing/

Disappointing
kstravelers Jul 12, 2009
When we booked this hotel, we thought this would be a pretty decent hotel for the price based on other reviews. We don't get ... a hotel for much other than a place to sleep. We arrived right in time for check-in but were told our room wasn't ready. There were many other customers waiting around for their rooms, too. The lobby we had to wait in was not air conditioned and was very unpleasant. In fact, the room where the breakfast was served and the bar wasn't air conditioned either. The staff was unfriendly. The people at the front desk didn't seem to be in a customer-first mindset as they continuously had personal converstations with one another while all of us were waiting around to be checked in. The housekeeping staff told us we'd be better off taking the stairs down rather than the elevator because they were blocking the elevator with one of their cleaning carts and said "they'd be a while." The room itself wasn't all that bad. The decor definitely needed updating. I wouldn't say that the room was spotless though. The set up of the facility was pretty nice. It just needed some updating and AIR CONDITIONING in the middle of June! Pretty much the only good thing about it was the two free drinks we could have each evening during the manager's reception. :) But don't be fooled about "hot food" they'd serve during the reception....it's generally nothing more than a bowl of crackers for everyone to share.

Okie from Muskogee Jul 7, 2009
We have stayed at this location several times. It is a little older than some but we enjoy the free drinks, full breakfast ... and the location. This time the first room they assigned the internet wouldn't work so they cheerfully switched us. In the second room the telephone wouldn't work but we didn't care as we both carry cell phones. At night the hallways reverberate with everyone's voices, so I had to call the desk and ask that the kids be told to tone it down. We were there over July 4th weekend and several ball teams were also there. We will, despite the above, stay there again.

This is a nice clean, newer motel. Located in the suburbs, centered with all our activites. With indoor fitness center and ... hot tub, and a nice walk through the gardens to the outdoor pool. Our room had a balcony, and the best suprise was a complimentary buffet breakfast made by the cook, and two complimentary drinks in the evening.

Came with friends to attend a concert.. had a fun time and the stay was nice. The breakfast was really good and we all ... enjoyed. No complaints, the only weird thing was that the bedspreads didn't match and the dresser was really really old and was missing a handle which was weird why they hadn't replaced it. Otherwise very happy with the stay.

Amy Jul 3, 2009
The staff was not very helpful on "things to do in St. Louis". The pillows were terrible. Room was clean when we arrived ... but was not cleaned well at all for the three nights we were there. The tile wall around the inside of the pool was filthy and looked like it had not been cleaned all summer. The hotel has the potential to be at least a four star with some needed attention. Complimentary breakfast was a plus but get there before 9:00 because they don't waste time shutting it down. Walls were thin and could here kids above running all night. The landscaping is beautiful but is starting to be overcome by weeds.

Not the best place to stay
traveldud Jun 30, 2009
Arrived at hotel for a family reunion on Wed Jun 24. I chose this hotel because it was cheaper than the hotel that was ... reserved for our family reunion. Needless to say, you get what you pay for. The guy at the front desk was very helpful. I suggest he go work for better looking hotel. I received my complementary drink coupons but unfortunately the bar closed at 7:30pm. I don't know of any bar that closes that early. I realized that I probably wasn't going to use these coupons since the hours were limited and I had preplanned family activites. So I just put the coupons aside and made my journey to my room. Now I'm not a picky guy. All I ask for in a hotel is cleanliness, a friendly and helpful staff, minimal noise and a comfortable bed. The only thing I got was the friendly and helpful staff. The room was old and dirty. The walls had markings as if a kid decided to do his art project on the walls. The paint was chipping off the walls. There were water marks around the windows and AC. The sheets on one of the beds were dirty. The bathroom was dirty. I had to put up with noisy neighbors who were trying to enter my room through the connecting doors. The place just felt like an old run down apartment. Since it was too late to contact Orbitz to request a hotel change, I just stayed the night and called Orbitz in the morning. After speaking and holding on the line with [...] the Orbitz rep, I was advised to checkout and change to a newer and cleaner hotel down the street. So I just packed my stuff and hauled butt to the next hotel which made my 4 day stay in St. Louis quite pleasant. I think with some serious renovation, this hotel would be fine. It's time to get out of the 1990s decor.

Gave this hotel a second chance because the rate was so good. Probably won't give them a third. Very unprofessional ... staff....profanity was rampant! Reservation wasn't in the system when I arrived. First room I was assigned wasn't cleaned when I got there at 4:00 p.m.....(sheets on the floor, room a mess)Front desk clerk did apolgize and blames the cleaning staff....second room was fine.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel and the helpful staff, but there were several areas in disrepair. My first impression was bad. I was the only customer at the check-in counter and was ignored for 3.5 minutes while two staff ... members, one named [...], were discussing something right in front of me. The hotel was o.k., seemed clean and ordinary. Two free drinks per adult per night at the hotel bar was awsome and the breakfast buffet was great! The service was below average. We were told about a shuttle service to Westport, and when I asked [...] the front desk employee, he was on his cell phone and told me that the shuttle guy was around here somewhere, I should walk around the hotel and look. I finally had to demand that he find the shuttle driver. The shuttle driver was nice and took us to Westport to dine and we were told to call when we were ready to leave, except no one answered the phone! We called for ten minutes. Guess who was working? [...]:( Other that this one staff member who was the face of the hotel during our two night stay, this was a fine hotel, but I would suggest staying somewhere closer to St. Charles since Westport is an industrial area.
