Does not live up to the W Hotel standard

We were traveling with 10 women looking for a relaxing getaway in first class accommodations. We had several options that ... were of the same star rating or higher for lower price but went with the W b/c we know they are known for their style, service and accommodations. We also heard that their pool was THE place to be in Scottsdale. WE WERE VERY DISAPPOINTED. There are so many things to comment on that I will just list them here: THE BAD: 1) our friends called TWICE to confirm that there would be 2 double beds in their room. When checking in, they were given a king and repeatedly told that there were no doubles available in the whole hotel. After discussing with the check-in staff for 15min., they were suddenly able to find a room with two doubles. 2) We found Dorito chips and a clothing tag on the floor when we lifted up the comforter on our bed. We didn't eat Doritos on the entire trip. 3) Practically all of us had a bad experience with almost slipping in the shower. My roommate did fall and had to fill out an incident report b/c her bruises were very large 4) Room service took 45min. to an hour and when it arrived, it was cold. 5) You have to pay $50 for a late check out after noon and then $75 for any time between 3 and 6pm. 6) We witnessed a poor senior couple, STAYING AT THE HOTEL, booted from the chairs they had put their stuff down on at the pool b/c the chairs are reserved for $25. The poor gentleman had a cane and they were asked to move! 7) We are in the process of investigating errors on the bill right now. 8) After a long night out, my friends were trying to sleep in and got a call at 8am telling them their breakfast was on it's way. THEY DID NOT ORDER BREAKFAST. 9) We all called for late checkout and were told we had to pay a fee. My one friend called, agreed to pay, and then got a call later telling her she did not have to pay. 10) We wanted to spend time with friends at the end of the night and had a security guard with headset on, moving us along in to our rooms as though we were teenagers with a curfew. We are all mid-30s and early 40s! I understand the need to control noise, but being ushered to our rooms and followed by security was a bit excessive. 11) There is only one restaurant in the hotel and it is a higher end sushi restaurant. We were hoping there were less expensive options to get snacks or lunch or something at the hotel, other than at the pool. 12) Our room was not cleaned for two days. We did have our "do not disturb" up in the a.m. but took it down when we headed out to the pool before noon. No on came back to clean the room at any point in the day. 13) Apparently we are charged a small fee for the paper each day. We never saw the paper. This must be b/c our room was never cleaned. I will admit, some of the gripes are personal preference on things but overall, the hotel was very disappointing. It is not like the W Hotels we have stayed at in other cities. GOOD STUFF: There were three standouts at the hotel - Carlos and the set of twins that work at the front desk. They did their jobs very well had extremely pleasant attitudes throughout our stay there.

Olive and Ivy was a hip and tasty restaurant within walking distance from the hotel. I would recommend.

W stands for Worse Hotel

If you never been to spring break and that's what your looking for this is your place. This hotel ruined my whole trip. They ... don't tell you stuff like you have to res. a place at the pool and it for only so long. There only 65 seats at the pool and there are over 200 rooms plus, outside guest can use the pool if they pay a fee. So if you think you're going to hang by the pool all day your not. Also, that at night the hotel turns in to a big night club and to have a seat any were you have to pay at least $250. This hotel does not care about their guess they care about the VIPs night clubbers that come there. Beware all girls traveling alone at night the halls ways and Zen garden can become very dangers!!!! But, again why would they care about the guest safety. It all about looking cool!!! I could go on for hours abut how bad this place is. The women at the front desk told me that a manager would call me, I'm still waiting for that phone call.
