Nice hotel, but not much to do nearby
Dan Oct 20, 2009
The room and service were both very good. The room had some odd quirks (like no door on the walk-in shower) but nothing ... bad. It was spacious with a nice entertainment system. The people were friendly, polite and professional. My only complaint is that there didn't seem to be much in the area immediately around the hotel but office buildings. No restaurants, shops, or even pedestrians (I was there on a weekend, though). I didn't do an extensive job of searching the area, so maybe there is more to see and do, but I didn't notice anything. On the plus side, the hotel itself had a popular and active bar and club on the premises, so if you just wanted a place for some cocktails, the hotel is more than adequate. The bottom line is that I would most certainly go back to this hotel (as long as I had a car; speaking of which, the hotel did charge me $28/night for parking which is so outrageous as to actually anger me).

The hotel has a surprisingly lively night life on the premises. Although there is nothing much nearby, that is tolerable because the bar and club and restaurant provide a nice alternative social outlet.

Beautiful decor, great feel!
Coffeeshop lover Sep 23, 2009
In Atlanta for a 1night-2day work trip and decided to try W. First, it's closest to all of the major Midtown restaurants and ... the overall decor and feel of the hotel is top notch. My only complaint was that one of the lights in my room was out and that contributed to a darker than normal room but I really only wanted that much light for a few moments. Other than that, everything else was great! The room was fully stocked though I didn't partake as those items were way over priced and I really didn't need a snickers bar or a bottle of Grey Goose at the time.

Good, but pricey service.
Weary Consultant Jul 9, 2009
While the W Hotel was very nice it is showing its wear and tear which is, I assume, because of the economy. There where very ... few people staying at the hotel so it was easy to get good service. There are lots of little extra's like an extensive mini bar and in-room snacks but they are very pricey. The restaurant Spice was also good with excellent service but my meal was $70 for one person! That is a bit much. The W is a victim of a change in attitude about what is disposable earnings. All of a sudden a state of the art lighting system in the hotel bar seems excessive and paying $5 for a short can of "Pringles" just seems wasteful. The rooms were really nice the bed was great. The bathroom had a standup shower with rain head and a half glass partition (annoying) but the water was warm, the service was great and the price per night was unbelievable through Orbitz. You couldn't dream of that pricing even one year ago. Would I come back to the W? Well, maybe, but I would certainly recommend it for anyone who always wanted to stay at a high-end hotel but previously couldn't afford it. PS: The in-lobby kiosk allows you to check-in to your flight and print out your boarding passes and pick a seat before leaving the hotel--very cool.

Good value in great location
kerleyq Jun 30, 2009
This was excellent value. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were just fantastic. I found the food in the ... restauarnt to be pretentious and not very good, although the waiters were excellent. My main gripe was that there was no restaurant for breakfast and as I was meeting customers over breakfast I had to leave the hotel

HIP and ULTRA COMTEMPORARY
OSOCUTE Jun 8, 2009
The hotel was cute and comtemporary. They made good use of the space to make it feel cozy. Spa Bliss was the best spa ... ever! Small and intimate and 5 star service. The breakfast wasn't that good and extremely overpriced. Lunch was great and resonable. The location was perfect and a short drive for shopping and great resturants. Easy access to freeways (despite the construction) and main streets. I visit ATL once a year and this hotel stay was the best. I look forward to returning.

WIFI in room is pricey as well as the the computer lab. The huge price is per 15 minutes. To save money, just go into the lobby living room and get WIFI for free!

My stay at the W Midtown
Denise May 26, 2009
I attended an event at Shout the restaurant attached to the hotel. My only compliant, purchased parking with this package ... and when I checked in they didn't tell me it had to be valet, not the attached garage which is separate from the W. That meant I paid double for parking during my stay. Nothing was offered to me.
