Small rooms
Picturelady Nov 25, 2009
We went on a business trip and added some nice quiet time into the trip. The room was small especially the entrance, ... couldn't hold the door open and pull luggage cart in at the same time. Staff was very friendly and the location was great. Breakfast was really good. We were very disappointed in the size of the room. One of the bed side lamps was broken and the AC made lots of noise the second night. We didn't notice it the first night.

It is very clean; however, the tub was very slippery. Front desk very friendly and helpful. Offered towels for pool and hot ... tub. Had to call at 10pm because TV would not turn on. Front desk did call maintenance and obviously there was a circuit breaker problem but was fixed in an hour. There is no place to hang clothes in any room.

This was a very nice hotel to stay in for the money. The location was great and the pool area was awesome. Everyone was so ... helpful and would always get anything we needed. If you go there you've got to do the dolphin cruise with Dolphin Express at Bear Point Marina.

Nice Place

No problems at all. We stayed at Palm Breeze condo's in the spring and they were great for the family, but we opted for a ... hotel while just the two of us traveled. Easy access to the beach. Beautiful pool and hot tub. Hammocks, plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Friendly staff at the bar and really throughout the hotel. There were only two elevators which were a little inconvenient, but nothing worth complaining about. The staff at the breakfast was very friendly and accomadating. The breakfast was kept stocked continuosly. Standard fridge and microwave in the room was nice. Our view of the gulf was neck breaking, but we got what we paid for. I would definately stay here again. From the beach it looked like a little pink hotel among the giants, but who cares. The price was great and the accomadations were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was free and the fridge provided a sandwich at lunch. Kept us on the beach relaxing until we went out at night, exactly what we were looking for. I was surpised at the upscale items at the souvenier shop next door. Not as much cheezy beach stuff as the other places. We liked the fact that if we forgot something or wanted a drink we were just a few steps away. Very relaxing and very convenient. Kept their number. We definately try this one again. Oh I forgot. We did see a rat outside around the trash can at the pool. He could have come from the high price condo's next door. He was friendly. We fed him chips.

No Place to Park
No Place to Park Jun 8, 2009
We noticed that some patrons were using the facilities but were not registered hotel guest. They were parked in the hotel ... parking lot, using the lobby restrooms to change into their swim suits, and using the swimming pool. My wife had to wait until they finished dressing before she could use the restroom. Some cars were parked in the no parking areas due to not having enough spots due to the non-registered patrons. When a guest registers they should be given a tag to hang on the rearview mirrow showing their day of arrival and departure. If a car in the parking lot does have a hotel registered tag displayed have th car towed so the registered guest have a place to park. One suggestion that would curtail this abuse of facilities by non-registered guests is to install a card reader on the lobby restrooms same as the exercise rooms. With no place to change, the parking will not fill up.

Great stay
Pretty much amazing May 12, 2009
I was a bit weary of staying here due to the reviews. The hotel was great! They are still doing just a little construction, ... but there is nothing in the hallways or in the parking lots. I wouldn't have noticed they were doing it except for two tiny things (crate of bricks outside, electrician on first floor.) The bulk of it is done. The rooms were great. Sure, they could still use a little updating if you want to be picky (ugly green paint in the bathroom,) but it was a nice hotel with nice staff. It didn't smell "musty" like another reviewer said. The pool was also nice with a hot tub. And, of course, the beach was right there! Although I didn't get a beach front room, I could see it fine from me balcony. Don't worry about this place folks, it will be fine.

Just across the street and a block down it adventure island where you can play a fun round of mini golf, ride go carts, or play video games. It was a great spot for us when it rained a bit. The Tanger outlets are also close with some good stores. There weren't a whole lot of places to eat, but there were enough.

The Holiday Inn Express was in an excellent location on Orange Beach, Alabama. The beach had sugar white sand and the pool ... was superior to the typical hotel pool. My only disappointment was the small balcony overlooking the beach with hot air blowing from the a/c unit right where we were sitting. The complimentary continental breakfast was good with a nice selection to choose from.
