No luck with the buck Nov 22, 2009
We wanted to see how Dana Point was and we were a little disappointed. The only pleasant evening was dinner at the Chart ... House. The res of our stay we went spent most of our time in Laguna Beach where we should have stayed. We make an average of two weekend get away at least twice a year and wanted to do a comparison. Laguna Beach won! The Inn was terrible, it was like we were sleeping at the curb with so much traffic noise and the other tenants were so loud, drunk and totally disregardful safety. Management did nothing about it. The trip was not wasted for we now know where to go and enjoy good accommodations, food and people-Laguna Beach! And not stay at a Holiday Inn.

We attended a wedding. Nice suite with convenient breakfast served. Friendly and helpful front desk. Room may be noisy ... because of street noise and fairly thin walls. Free parking. Probably best available for price in the area.

Good location near the harbour. The place is nice enough. Friendly staff. Two minor complaints: 1. The room was non-smoking ... (rm 385), but had a very slight stale smoke smell. 2. The breakfast was mostly fine, but the eggs were way overcooked.

Although there are no restaurants in the hotel, they do serve a compimentary hot breakfast and have a refrigerator & microwave in the room. There are restaurants within the same block and many more within walking distance.

Lots of places to eat - park at the harbor and just walk around until you see a place you like.

Wonderful hotel
Aunt Gige Nov 6, 2009
We stayed for four nights and have no complaints, only compliments. We were 3 adult (senior) sisters and one 6 year old ... grandaughter. The suite was a perfect accommodation for us. With the hotel, located just a couple of blocks away from the ocean, we were able to walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, and a lovely park. Disneyland was about 30 minutes away but extremely easy to get to from this location by car. The staff was extremely accommodating, helpful, and so pleasant! We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would stay again when we return to Dana Point.

Have stayed at this location before great location staff extremely helpful and curtious. This stay I got a room on streat ... level was way to noisy with traffic, did not encounter that on my last stay since I was on the 3rd level. Rooms are very clean beds somewhat hard they could use new ones, that's the only downfall of this hotel. Great Location to everything

Close to the harbor
Whale Watcher Aug 24, 2009
I came in on a Saturday because I was going Whale Watching early Sunday morning and I wanted to be close to the harbor. The ... room type I had reserved faced a busy street and I was concerned about the noise level. The front desk staff gave me the room key so I could check it out for myself and explained that if I preferred, there was a room on a higher floor that I could have. As they said, there was NO street noise at all and I stayed in the original room. The desk staff tried to help with a restaurant choice but could only help with location and offered me a list of local eateries. It turned out that none of them had ever eaten anywhere in Dana Point and could make no comment about the quality of the food or the atmosphere - too bad for me! The hotel is a good place to spend the night or longer as long as you are doing stuff all day and using it as a place to crash at night, it was clean, comfortable and well located and that's about all.

Not Bad...

This hotel was close to the beach and surrounded by many fast food places. A good place to stay, a bit pricey but more ... affordable than the Marriot up the street. Easy parking. Fast check-in but they messed up the checkout and my wife was late to a wedding that I was in that day. They had us in a different room than we were checking out of. I would probably stay here again though.

We had a king suite with 2 person jacuzzi, the room was spacious, clean and amenities were that of a 4 star hotel at a 3 star ... price. Attention to detail and many 'extras' made the difference. The bed was very comfortable, and the location was great. No famous cinnamon rolls however at the breakfast.

A very clean room
Chriatina Jul 28, 2007
The Holiday Inn Express in Dana Point impressed me with the spotless room and bathroom. I especially liked the whirlpool ... bath tub and the shower massage. The room was stocked with pillows ranging from extra firm to super soft which was great for me and my super sensitive neck. The pool was the perfect size for me to get a few laps in before dinner. The hotel is right across the street from Dana Point Harbor where there is shopping and restaurants and the beautiful Salt Creek Beach is about 1/2 a mile North off of PCH. I will be choosing this hotel for my next weekend in South Orange County

Salt Creek Beach is a short drive off of Ritz Carlton Drive from Pacific Coast Highway. The waves are perfect for body surfing and boogie boarding and the sunset is breathtaking.
