A quiet place to rest after a busy day.
Army Dad Nov 14, 2009
I flew with my daughter-in-law to Columbus to attend my son's graduation from Basic Training at Ft. Benning, so we were not ... sight-seeing or looking for a destination hotel; we just wanted a reasonably-priced place to rest when the long days were over, and this hotel met all our needs. I rented one room for myself and one for them, and relaxed in my room while they had their own reunion. The hotel is on a frontage road of a state business highway that leads straight to the army base 7 miles away, but the rooms are well sound-proofed and although there was a little traffic noise occasionally, it was never bothersome and I slept well in the king-size bed. There was even a large group of cheerleaders here for a convention, and there were no noise problems with all these high school girls traveling back and forth outside. The shower was good, plenty of towels; the hot breakfast buffet was plentiful and filling; and the staff was always saying hello and asking if there was anything we needed. There appeared to be plenty of business travelers and military passing through on duty assignments, and all were pleasantly served by the staff. If I come back through to Ft. Benning, I'll stay again.

This hotel is in the middle of several state and interstate highways, you can reach dozens of restaurants and a couple of large shopping centers within a 5-mile radius, but I'd recommend having a GPS unit for your car because of all the criss-crossing highways and parkways. I'm not necesarily a chain-restaurant person, but if you're in the South do try the Cracker Barrel Restaurants, and for a great 50's style burger & milkshake, try the Steak & Shake restaurants, the first one was opened in 1934 and it's like going into an old drive-in malt shop.

Yes we really did enjoy our stay @ Quality Inn & Suites in Phenix City, AL. What I was most impressed with was the ... receptionist warm & friendly attitude. She made sure that we were taken care of & always had a smile on her face whenever a guest would arrive. Along with the friendly attitudes from the entire staff was much appreciated: they really made us feel @ home. So yes I rate this hotel a 5 because of their outgoing hospitality. Thank you again for a wonderful & pleasurable stay. If/whenever again I decide to travel, I will enjoy staying @ another Quality Inn & Suites hotel.

We had stayed at same motel back when it was Holiday Inn. It has been remodeled & is nice. Not fancy but nice. Noise level ... wasn't bad at all even with a crowd on the weekend. Will return there. It rates a very good score in our book. Staff was super nice. Excellent hot breakfast buffet included in room price with attendants keeping it full. Lots to choose from too.

Smooth Journey Inn
BOB Sep 13, 2009
My fiancee and I went on a time-crunched graduation trip for three days. This hotel was a great location just a few minutes ... from our destination at Fort Benning. Everything you might need (i.e. groceries, gas etc.)are located right down a little side street adjacent to the highway 280. The pool area was CLEAN and the water great for a little relaxing swim in the evening. The hotel food was pub grub, but good. The staff is friendly and professional. Overall a good experience.

They Gave Away our Room
Ranger Dad Aug 5, 2009
We arrived to find that there was no room for us even though we reserved one. They did find another room for us nearby and ... promised one night free. I'm still waiting for the credit to appear on my credit card. Generally the people were nice and friendly, but this shows that once someone gets your money, it's incredibly hard to get it back.

Robyn Jun 15, 2009
The hotel had been remodeled, but was still not very clean. It was also a smoking room. We were never asked if we wanted ... smoking or non smoking, and we were put in a VERY smokey room. I called and let them know it was unpleasant, but they had no other rooms available. The next morning I asked if we could be moved, and she didn't have any rooms available right then to move us to, so we checked out early.
