Great location and pet friendly
S. Oct 6, 2009
My sisters and I were there for a wedding. We felt the rooms were spacious and clean enough. We didn't use the pool or the ... fitness center - however we were glad to know there was one and if we had more time probably would have. We did use the computer for checking on our return flights which made it very handy. The staff at the front desk were great they give great directions and never seemed bothered or too busy to help us. Our brother stayed at another hotel and liked ours better. It is pet friendly, we had lots of dogs - they all were well behaved. Served breakfast but don't be late - things did run out. There was a pizza place very close by that had a band or some entertainment at night - it was a little loud but not unbearable. If you are younger you will want a beach hotel.
Traveler type: Family
The shops just a block away (28th and Atlantic) have most everything the other shops further up the street have so don't waste time looking anywhere else. Lots of malls close by if you have a car just ask for directions at front desk.

Good Deal for the Money !
Anne Oct 5, 2009
This hotel was great for the money. Just across the street from the beach, and not a dump like a lot of the others you'll ... see! Less than a hundred bucks for a nice room, very clean and quiet -- even though it was pet friendly! Staff was kind and helpful and overall we liked it! Would definetly stay there again and recommend it if you don't mind a short walk to the beach.

This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and the hotel was so close to the ... beach that we could see the ocean from our 6th floor room! [...], one of the front desk managers, was very friendly and helpful in assisting us with adding on two additional nights! We had an awesome time and will definitely be back!

Understaffed and dissappointing
NettyG Aug 23, 2009
When I arrived to the room, light bulbs were missing and the bathtub had mold in it. Then I realized that the bathroom door ... was broken as well. It locked from the outside so my husband had to go downstairs to the lobby to use the restroom. I tried to get an upgrade of rooms but they insisted that they were booked. I finally got a small upgrade but it still had mold in the bathtub. The air conditioners in the hallways were all broken and apparently they have been for quite a while..The maintenance man could not fix the door i was told so they just left it like that. On top of all of all this pets were allowed but a lady let her humongous poodle swim around in the pool one day...it was GROSS!!! The hot tub had mold in it and the indoor pool had a ring of grime around it that looks like it hadnt been cleaned in years. I would not expect this type of service or experience from a big franchise hotel like La Quinta. I have a La Quinta in Secaucus near where i live in NJ and it blows these people away! Never again. They need to hire more people and clean things up a lot.

This motel is a short walk to the beach. The beds were extremely comfy and there were enough pillows to suit me. The staff ... was pleasant and helpful, even getting us a hammer and wrench to work on one of our bikes. They had no problem allowing us to keep our bikes in our room. The elevators were slow so I'd request a room 3rd floor or lower so the steps don't wear you out, esp if you bring bikes. If you get a room on the north side we learned that if we turned the a/c unit to fan it drowned out the live music from the bar/pizza joint on that side of the bldg. There is a Subway beside the hotel. Other than that prepare to walk (or ride)several blocks for other eateries. Their free continental breakfast consists of waffles, bagels, cereal, muffins and fruit, no eggs. We found the rooms to be clean and neat. There is a microwave and mini fridge in the room. Their wi-fi is a little slow but it's better than nothing! The rooms are quite soundproof, we heard nothing from our neighbors. I would stay here again no problem, even on the north side with the band!

Bring your own bikes. The rentals are outrageous. Bring locks for them, no one will bother them. It's a great way to explore if it's your first trip. Also check out the beach at First Landing State Park. First Landing is also a great place to catch a sunset.

This was our first time visiting VA Beach. Hotel was in walking distance of the beach, very peaceful & quiet. Staff at hotel ... was nice & friendly. Did have a clogged drain in shower, but was taken care of in a timely manner. The hallways could stand a good cleaning, other than that would stay there again!

Overall we had a nice stay at LaQuinta. There was a lot of families with children of all ages that stayed the same week. For ... the most part, it was like any other hotel stay I have had. At times it was a little loud in the halls, but never any problems hearing the people in rooms beside us. Our room was a little small- we had an ADA compliant King Bed room. May be other King Bed rooms are bigger, but I don't think a handcapped guest would be able to get around the room well. The only real complaint I have was that the room services staff that clean were very slow. They took most of the day to get to our room, and even missed our room on a couple days. That could've been partly due to our timing in the room. The staff was very friendly, the guests were friendly, and it was very convenient to the beach and some shops. This was our first time in VA Beach, and it was worth the stay. We were able to walk during the day to the beach and shopping, and only a few blocks to drive to nicer restaurants and evening activities. We also had a nice short drive to the Aquarium (may be 4 miles on the same street as the hotel), and about a 10 minute ride in town to the movie theater at Lynnhaven Mall.
Traveler type: Couples
They had a great breakfast for guests which stayed open til 10 am- much longer than other places I've stayed. Our first day we went to a breakfast buffet a few blocks away, but it was not worth the cost. There are very few breakfast places to eat at, and with all that LaQuinta offers in theirs you are much better off saving your money and enjoying what they have. My husband loved the waffles. And if you plan on going to the beach after breakfast, just pop up to your room for your towels and one block away is the sand. So easy.

Try to check with people who have been to Virginia Beach instead of depending on these travel site who don't care about customers. These travel sites just share the money with the hotels particularly the bad hotels who are given booking because the customers don't know how bad the hotels are.
