Nice, but odd set-up
Married 10 years Aug 29, 2009
We went for our 10 year anniversary. I did a lot of research before making a selection. I didn't want to break the bank, but ... wanted a nice, romantic room. I asked for a room in the Embarcadero building as some others have suggested. The room was nice, but very oddly shaped. It was like a large "V" with the TV at the bottom of the V and the bathroom at the top (behind a wall, of course). Consequently, the lighting can't help but be dim because of the lack of open space. I knew it would be a nautical theme, but that somehow made it feel dimmer with the navy and mustard colors. Positives; clean, beautiful bathroom, quiet, proximity to business, river walk (river may look dirty, but I liked the river walk), great breakfast as many have said. Negatives: The bed was large, but a little saggy on one side, the sink stopper was broken and the shower had more of a cotton liner causing water to leak to the floor. The website said my room would have an MP3 player docking station, but that was only available in the main building, which ruined part of my mood-setting plans. Overall, I thought this would be better for business travelers. It seems the main building might have been better for couples, but it was too pricey for me. Likely would stay somewhere else next time.

You only get complimentary breakfast if you fill out a card AND eat it in your room. We didn't know that and ended up paying for breakfast the first night.

Great weekend in Napa
X Jul 20, 2009
The first night, there was a free concert at the park with a band that played Jimi Hendrix covers. Getting to this event was ... only walking distance and we were able to check out the scene without too much planning or fuss. The next day, we drove to the Gloria Ferrer Winery for the Catalan Festival, which proved to be about a half hour away from the Inn. My wife and our friends enjoyed the great food and sparkling wines that were offered as well as getting a little taste of Spain. We would end the day with a dinner at Mustard's Grill in St. Helena, the trip one way taking about 30 minutes by car. Though we had plans already set, we did stay in the comfortable room for the times we needed to rest with comfort. All in all, it was a great anniversary weekend that my wife will always remember.

We didn't need to venture out too far for breakfast since the Inn offered complimentary breakfast-in-bed service each morning. Take advantage of it if you feel a need to eat before a long day's adventure.

excellent location

This hotel is by the riverside in downtown Napa. It is a great place to relax with a lot of patio space. The rooms are very ... nice with a old-castle like decor. Not many restaurants in the same block as the hotel, but several restaurants in Napa are in the walkable range.
