Modern, clean... Yes. Quiet? Depends
zima Nov 22, 2009
Beautifully designed very modern rooms, extremely clean; however, don't come to stay if you plan to sleep at night Or ask for ... a more expensive suit away from the clubs. Probably a great place for partying but not for doing business. I booked this hotel because it is very close to the convention center. I asked for a quiet room and was offered a handicapped room on the top floor. However, I could still hear the clubs downstairs, I mean, each beat. On top of all, the young kids were having a party next door with loud music and screaming. Security tried to calm them down, but they are kids...and after all, it's a HARD ROCK HOTEL. Well, I had to work next day and was at the point of tears and ready to sleep in my car. The girls from the hotel heard my cry and moved me to a suit - beautiful, clean, and extremely quiet. So I was saved. I was very thankful. Keep in mind that you will have to pay about $17 of resort and spa fees in addition to your daily rate. I enjoyed my stay after I was moved. Was it worth the money? I would think twice before staying there next time.

Checking in was a breeze. We asked to be placed on a higher floor because of the noise from the clubs. We were on the 9th ... floor and this was perfect!! We had an awesome time. The restaurants were great! Everyone in the hotel was friendly. The two night spots Float and 207 were both fun! There are many restaurants in walking distance to the hotel as well as shops and the outdoor mall. We look forward to returning and staying at the Hard Rock SD.

There are 2 clubs/lounges, pool is beautiful and the rooms are modern and spacious. Will stay here again in the near future. Highly recommended for couples and groups of friends. Also, check out the spa for some R&R.

The hotel has a very cool rock atmosphere. You do not want to go here if your not 21 or older though, me and my boyfriend are ... just shy of 21 and you can't go to any shows or clubs or hangout spots. But once I turn 21 I want to go back, I loved everything about the hotel except that the pool closed early, and only like one of the suites has a bathtub. We stayed in the rockstar suite, very nice!

A Good Time!
Birthday Girl Sep 24, 2009
This was my first time both going to San Diego and staying at a Hard Rock Hotel and I would do them both again! The hotel is ... located at one end of the Gaslamp Quarter so going out, if you aren't enjoying one of the clubs in the hotel, is a breeze. I had my car with me, but traffic on Saturday night was annoying so we walked and took pedi-cabs. The hotel was expensive and daily parking fees and resort charges really put it over the top, but most all hotels down there seem to charge for parking, so the location, comfort and atmosphere made it worth it to me... I did skip out on a bit of tipping though because I got tired of giving away money... Go with a budget or it'll be easy to spend! I got a standard room with two queen beds and there was just two of us staying in it so there was plenty space. The beds were very comfortable! The bathroom was also spacious. Nice shower, good water pressure, though I could've stood the temperature to be a bit hotter. They use Aveda prodects and I love Aveda so that was a plus. The tv was awesome! They offer some music channels in addition to regular channels. We had a view of the pool and a courtyard type area so we had some fun people watching... We even watched a wedding take place! It's about 15min away from Sea World and I noticed Petco Park was extremely close. The convention center is across the street and a good beach isn't that far either. The consierge can answer any questions and print directions. We did have one instance on Sunday with people partying loudly in the hall at about 2 or 3am. It didn't last long before they got quiet (not sure if they did it on their own or someone told them to). We weren't THAT bothered by it because we sort of expected it at one point or another and we were there to celebrate ourselves... Everyone's there to party!

Family Getaway, not so much.
Franco Sep 14, 2009
We spent Friday and Saturday at the pool which is not for kids even though they allow children. We do not recommend ever ... taking your kids to the Hard Rock. Now if you are into the xxx scene then this is the place for you. NOT FOR KIDS. Extremely unfriendly staff again this could be because we had our son with us. Watch out for the added charges to the room that they do not disclose upfront.

I went Labor day weekend so it was a huge scene of Young Adults that wanted to party. During their Sunday Intervention party ... I would have liked to go in the pool as it was so hot but the pool was tiny and packed. They could have def made it bigger since they had a decent amount of property. I would def recommend to friends and others. Just not families with kids.

For the Hip, 20-30-Something Crowd
Donnie Sep 9, 2009
This hotel was awesome! It is exceptionally clean, aesthetically beautiful, and very well maintained. It is a perfect spot ... for the 20-30- something hip, party-going crowd to stay and enjoy a festive weekend stay. The parties at the hotel are unmatched- I challenge you to find any better in San Diego. Because of that, the hotel can be noisy- especially on the weekends. If you are staying at this Hard Rock for R&R, be sure to ask for a quiet room on reserving the room and then again on checking in- they will accommodate you as best as they can. Noise is the only downfall of the place. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone who is interested in great nightlife with beautiful people in the 20-30-something crowd. Wow!

I was in San Diego attending a wedding over this past weekend, but the wedding didn't compare to my wonderful experience at ... the Hard Rock. The Hotel was immaculately clean. Hard Rock Hotel...rocked too late!!!
Kel. Sep 6, 2009
We have stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas many times so we thought we would try the San Diego Hard Rock for our ... recent trip to see Nickelback in concert. The hotel is in a great location (walking distance too everything in the Gaslamp Quarter) but we would NOT stay there again due to the noise factor. Every night the music could be heard until 2 am thumping in the room which makes sleeping a little difficult. We asked for a quiet room when checking in and we heard music pretty much non-stop the whole time we were in our room. The pool is small and got too crowded for us to enjoy it. We were there on a holiday weekend so it may not always be so crowded. Maryjanes restaurant was the best part of our stay. They have a great selection of food and the staff is great! If you are in your 20's or 30's and like to party then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere.

I took my 10 yr. old niece and 5 yr. old grandaughter to the Hard Rock for an overnight last night. We had a fabulous time. ... We got a great room overlooking the pool and when I booked with Orbitz, I got a $50 spa gift card which I used to have a makeup session for the girls. We walked to Horton Plaza for shopping/lunch and walked down 5th Ave for dinner. We swam in the morning and we were the only ones @ the pool. [...], the pool waitress was so great with the girls and [...] at check in was a doll. We ended the stay w/ a great breakfast at Mary Jane's Coffee Shop. The girls and I had the best 24 hr. get a way and we will go back again soon.
