Nice clean hotel in heart of everything
Wandering Texan Aug 18, 2009
Clean rooms, but small (this is London afterall) Staff was very helpful with information and when my 110V adapter fritzed ... out, they had loaners. The best thing is the location - less than a block from Trafalgar Sqaure and the National Gallery and a very short walk to the Horseguard Parade grounds. You can easily walk to Parliament and Big Ben, the Churchil War Rooms, and Charing Cross station. If you really like to walk, Buckingham Palace isn't that far away, and it was very pleasant to cut through St. James park. Even the London Eye is within walking distance just over the River.

Great Location, Great Price
Gayle Aug 17, 2009
This was a perfect location for trips around London - close to the Tube and buses, and within easy walking distance to the ... National Gallery, Covent Garden, Piccadilly, Westminster, and more. There was also a great coffee shop in a book store right across the street. We were able to check in early both times we stayed (before and after a cruise), and the staff was very responsive to our requests. An especially nice perk was the filtered water and bottles supplied at no charge.

Bait & Switch on Busy Weekends
Dan Wolkin Jul 24, 2009
Watch for the bait and switch on busy weekends. When I stayed July 4 weekend, the hotel was overbooked, so they sent me and ... several other families to their sister hotel in the middle of nowhere in East London. Two other people told me they had similar experiences at Club Quarters -- you book one location, and then they send you to another Club Quarters hotel at a second, out-of-the-way location. They didn't have any management staff avail. to resolve the situation on the weekend, so had to wait till Monday to talk to someone, at which point they explained that this was their policy.

great location
Teresa Jul 20, 2009
We were very pleased with the location. Close to two tube stations, Embankment and Charing Cross, for traveling about the ... city. Easy to get cabs as Trafalgar Square has quite a bit of traffic. Close to places to pick up drinks and snacks at all hours! Close to quite a few things to do such as the London Eye, the Aquarium, Parliment, Big Ben, Westminster, movies, Theaters, plus numerous places to eat and drink! The hotel was comfortable. We had a mini fridge and a microwave since we were there for a week. We were lucky enough to be able to check when we arrived at about eleven even tho check in time was three. Only a shower (no tub) but that is not that much of an issue to us.

The staff was really helpful and friendly. They challenged me to find something they couldn't help with saying they were ... "one stop shopping" They only thing they couldn't do was make postage but did provide it at exact rates and even posted the mail for me. This place was so good that I don't need to shop around for lodging on a return trip, I found the best place.

Club Quarters, Trafalgar Square
Steve Jul 7, 2009
I always try to stay at this hotel when I am in London. The location is about as central as you can get and the staff is ... friendly, helpful and courteous. I like the free wi-fi service (I wish other hotels would take note of this) and the beds are very comfortable. The fitness center is fine for my needs as well. It is also nice to have an ice machine with filtered water on each hall and if you need an iron or extra coffee or tea you can normally find them in the guest lockers that are also on each hall. I highly recommend this hotel and I have never had a bad experience at the Club Quarters Trafalgar.

Used and old bookstores a few minutes away from Charing Cross. Tube and bus within two minutes to all the places first time ... visitors want to go and many close enough to walk to. Visiting a village was suggested and we chose Hampstead and it's heath and were not disapointed.

club quarters trafalgar rocks
young tom Jul 2, 2009
i have gone to london many times and have never stayed near trafalgar square. i am a convert. i am a museum buff and enjoy ... the national theatre as well as eating on the thames before theatre, so i am definitely a convert. the club quarters room was relatively large with a great bed and TV (shower only). small fitness center and no pool. free internet in lounge. the room was extremely quiet. good AC, a plus in june. but it was great to be able to easily go back to the hotel after going to the national gallery, the national portrait gallery or the tate. adn trafalgar is a good bus hub to go to a number of parts of london (oyster card a must).

MY WIFE AND I STAYED HERE FOR 4 NIGHTS THURS THRU SUNDAY TO CELEBRATE MY 60TH BIRTHDAY & REVISIT A GREAT CITY AND SEE ARSENAL ... vs CHELSEA ON 5/10. THE LOCATION WAS IDEAL, THE HOTEL WAS QUIET AND THE STAFF WAS ATTENTIVE TO OUR QUESTIONS AND NEEDS. THE ROOM WAS AVERAGE SIZED, WHICH IS GREAT FOR LONDON. THE PRICE WAS GREAT. THE FREE - HELP YOURSELF- FILTERED WATER MACHINE IN THE HALLWAY IS A NICE TOUCH. THIS HOTEL IS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO TWO TUBE STATIONS, CHARING CROSS ON THE BAKERLOO LINE AND EMBANKMENT WHICH I BELIEVE IS ON THE DISTRICT LINE. WE WILL DEFINTELY STAY HERE ON OUR NEXT TRIP. I WAS RELUCTANT TO WRITE THIS REVIEW BECAUSE I WANT AS FEW PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO KNOW ABOUT THIS SECRET VALUE.

Great location, a few problems
zedp3 May 25, 2009
Bottom line - we liked this hotel very much and think you should stay here if the price is reasonable. The location couldn't ... be much better (between two excellent Tube stops) and reasonably close to lots of cheap (if somewhat average) eats. If you are a business traveler I highly recommend this hotel. If you are a leisure traveler who has a clue (i.e. can navigate the Tube, hotel elevator, etc.) I would recommend this hotel. If you are an unseasoned tourist or elderly or need special assistance, you need to choose a hotel with a full time concierge and more amenities. That said, there were issues - primarily with the internet connection. When I travel abroad, my internet connection is one of the most important safety and information links. Plus, I upload my digital pics to a sharing site so that if my camera should be lost or stolen I won't lose all of my photos. The Club Quarters had chronic problems with slow/broken wireless and "Living Room" (their business lounge - otherwise excellent) connection. The weekend staff was incapable of troubleshooting the problem. We spent a lot of time trying to resolve this and we never did.

Get an unlimited ride Oyster Card - it saves you so much money on trips to/from the airport, boat rides on the Thames, and around town on the Tube. Zones 1/2 is very reasonable.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!!!
I (heart) Scones May 19, 2009
I was blindly trying to find a hotel for my weekend trip to London. I saw the price on this one, saw where it was located on ... the map, and thought it was too good to be true. I relied on the reviews from Orbitz and booked it. Trust us! For a traveler, this was an AMAZING pick! It takes about an hour on the tube from Heathrow, but what hotel doesn't. You are RIGHT on Trafalgar square, a block from two different underground stations, the tour buses have a stop in front of the front door of the hotel as do many regular bus lines. The staff is amazing. The hotel is beautiful! The restaurant isn't complete, but in this part of town, minutes from Picadilly and the West End, if you can't find a restaurant on your own... The elevator (sorry, LIFT) is really small, but when that is your biggest challenge... take it! Free wireless internet. Loved this place and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

In London, don't drive, even to the country. Public transportation is generally faster and cheaper. And consider buses in London proper if you're not in a terrible hurry: the tops of double-deckers are great for seeing what's around.
