Custom’s restaurant Bistrotek is a full-service bistro serving breakfast and dinner and cocktails. The restaurant's contemporary, industrial design aesthetic is reminiscent of the revitalized lofts found in New York's SoHo or Chicago's River North. Bistrotek features an open and airy loft-style space with sky lights and exposed pipes, polished concrete floors, distressed brick walls, pendant light fixtures, an old-fashioned, smoke-colored banquet, a wood-paneled dining bar and a vine-enclosed outdoor patio. Serving imaginative bistro fare, classic cocktails, boutique wines and artisanal beers are served with caring hospitality in a warm atmosphere. Bistrotek's exceptional value and welcoming, casual yet chic vibe invites neighbors, visitors and hotel guests to make themselves at home and stay a while.
Custom"s bi-level pool bar and grill features four private cabanas, an outdoor fire pit and stadium seating, all designed with the contemporary California lifestyle in mind. The lower deck is shaded by Gold Medallion and Strawberry trees and large poolside umbrellas. Earthy colors are flecked with splashes of pink and orange, where throw pillows depicting mischievous monkeys hint at a place meant to be playful and fun. Modern chaise lounge chairs and tabletops on the pool deck encourage casual al fresco dining and a welcoming break from today's hectic pace.
Eclectic furnishings were collected and custom designed for Custom's lobby lounge, inviting our guests to enjoy an after work beer, pre-dinner cocktail or late-night drink as if in their own personal living room. Enjoy a martini, mojito or Cabernet from a local southern Californian winery as you recline by the lobby fireplace.
Cocktail Service: Nightly 6:00pm-12:00am
Custom Hotel features 5 exclusive conference suites for small, intimate meetings of up to 50 people and hosts outdoor or private events for up to 400 people. Catered breakfast, lunch and dinner is also available in the conference suites or poolside.

Dark and uncomfortable
Z man Nov 30, 2009
Hotel has been supposedly remodeled, but many things in the room were dated. No closet, clothes hung on a rack, no drawers. ... Not very friendly desk staff; everything was very dark; the bed was on the floor; restaurant only served breakfast and dinner; didn't realized they only had valet parking for $22/nite. All in all, not a pleasant experience.

This was a quick overnight trip to L.A. for business. My experience of the hotel itself was great. Checking in was a little ... slow and the person who helped me seemed distracted. Loved the room and the way it was furnished and set up. It felt very private. Great thing for me my favorite coffee shop was two doors down so I was able to get my "fix" first thing in the AM. Also, there is a Bristol Farms across the road where I bought a great breakfast burrito. I'd stay again; we're human and I want to be gracious towards the person who assisted me when I checked in.

Good overnight stop on the way home.
ab Nov 8, 2009
[...] The location and airport shuttle made this a very convenient choice for our group traveling home with an overnight ... layover in LA. The rooms were clean and funky and the staff was very friendly. I wouldn't have been impressed if I had had to pay full price for the rooms, because I thought they were very simplistic without anything extra special. However, I thought it was a very good value at the sales price for a clean room with a very comfortable bed. We did luck out with an ocean view, but the windows were so crusty and dirty that it was tough to see. Also enjoyed breakfast at the hotel restaurant - very good as well.

Perfect service, perfect room
Halifornia Nov 1, 2009
Our room was spotless, with modern design/decor and a great layout. Small, yet incredibly roomy, light, and airy. The ... customer service was AMAZING. This is not an overstatement. I do not know if this is typical of Custom, but the service we received was far above anything I ever expected from ANY hotel. All of this, and a great price and location. I tried to be objective and consider pros and cons both, but I can't find any downside. There's even a supermarket RIGHT around the corner. Do be aware of the parking situation. They only have valet parking, although the rates are very reasonable for LA. You may be able to find streetside parking in the area. We didn't look, as we arrived around midnight.

Perfect for the Budget Hipster!
Allan Sep 20, 2009
This was my second stay, and I love this place. Yes, the self-consciously avant-garde hipsterism is a little over-the-top, ... but that is absolutely the charm of this place. The elevators play techno music that seems to accelerate as they go up. The beds have bizarre duvets with pictures of dogs in military uniforms. There's a birdcage en route to the dining room with fake birds and bird sound effects. The weight room is Malibu Barbie pink. It's all weird, and I totally love it. This may not be right for people who take themselves too seriously, but I work in entertainment. I live New York's east village. I like an esthetically stimulating environment, and this place has got it. The location is a little bit south of most places you're likely to want to go in LA (which is probably why it isn't more expensive), but it is a lot closer to Venice Beach than any of the pricier boutique hotels in Hollywood or Downtown. I definitely will be back.

Bad Hotel
Don Sep 14, 2009
There was no coffee maker in room and had only parking was by valet that charged $22 per day. Even the best hotels in Las ... Vegas don't charge for parking. There was no refrig in room. The hotel meals were over priced and poor quality. The in-room movies were over priced. I have traveled over this country and this is one of the worst hotels I've stayed. The only thing that this hotel had in it's favor was the close location to LAX. If anyone should ask about my stay at Custom House, I would tell them to save their money and stay somewhere else. They also charge $35 for early check-in.

Ontop of those things we had to paid 22.00 per night for (so call valet parking at their so call little hotel, which was so crazy ( didn't have a choice) nowhere else to park at the place. Will never return there again nor tell any friends about the hotel.

I was on a 3 day vacation package to Disney & Universal studios. Its quite far from both the locations.Actually I booked for ... LA quanta inn & Suites but the orbitz people messed up my reservation and I ended up in Custom hotel. Its quite and good. Stingy in changing towels. Ok for the prices. Its next to Ralphs store I could pick up some soda & fruits till night 2.00 am. The Other plus point for the location is its short drive far to Beach(Palya del Rey).

Tailslide Aug 25, 2009
very good hotel, clean and in a great position (between venice, marina del rey and lax airport). But some things are a little ... bit strange for an hotel like this, ie: if you want to park your car you have to pay 21 dollars!!! And there's no free breakfast. I asked why to the staff and they answered that it's a Orbitz fault. So, the price you pay in Orbitz is without breakfast for the Hotel. Bad thing. The rest is ok.

Not as great as the pictures seem
stacyjo615 Aug 14, 2009
We ended up having to change rooms because the door didn't lock and the telephone didn't work, then the second room we were ... put in had a broken light fixture that dangled from the wall and the television would lose sound every so often. You would have to turn the tv off and turn it back on again for the sound to work. The vending machines only have Mardi Grad type masks and party favors in them - no food or drinks. The front desk personnel told us to go to the grocery store next door if we wanted a drink. The night I checked in I asked the girl at the front desk to have someone fix the broken light in the second room we had to move to the next day, and 2 days later I had to go back and ask her again, and she told me that I told her I didn't want anyone to fix it that day, when I specifically asked for someone to come the next day when she tried to send them up to my room at 11pm to fix it. On the website it says there is street parking available, but when you get there they tell you it's valet only and it's $22 a night. When I talked to the valet guy he said you can park on the street, they just can't guarantee the safety of your vehicle. The pool is very small. The hotel isn't kept up well. There are a lot of things that are falling apart and need maintenence. The best part about this hotel is the comfortable bed, good water pressure in the shower, and the air conditioning worked great. The pictures definitely were better than the actual hotel.
