Microtel Inn
Just a person Dec 7, 2009
It's a nice little hotel just off the strip. It's cheaper than staying at a hotel on the strip, and you get a lot more bang ... for your buck. It's also nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the strip. The only thing I didn't like was that the pool was pretty small.

The location of the hotel was great! 1/2 block from Las Vegas Blvd and very close to the Rental Car Center. It was very ... quiet, no noise from the street and they had a great breakfast everyday. Very enjoyable and well worth the price paid.

Great place
Weekender Dec 4, 2009
Met a friend in Vegas for a few days of relaxation. We aren't interested in gambling so this was a great place to stay. While ... the hotel is only a block off Las Vegas Ave. it is a couple miles from the south end of the Strip. Took advantage of outlet mall next door. Also sightseeing and photo shooting at Red Rocks Park. The room wasn't large but adequate for us. Building is new with attractive modern decor. The breakfast is okay for something quick, but suggest instead nearby Denny's or other dining.
Traveler type: Friends
Bootlegger Bistro is a block from the hotel. Even though the building is new the Bistro has been operated by the same family since 1948. It is good Italian food at a reasonable price. The staff is gracious and professional. There is even a piano player.

If you are going to stay off the strip and rent a car (which i recommend for people who are not heavy drinkers), this is the ... place to stay. The Microtel Inn is one of those well kept secrets that travelling salesmen and businessmen seem to have kept quiet. Also one of the few NON-SMOKING hotels in town. GREAT STAFF, CLEAN ROOMS, FREE INTERNET, INSIDE POOL OPEN 24/7, GREAT FREE BREAKFAST. With all the free stuff, you can easily use the savings to rent a decent car. ONLY 4 MINUTES AWAY FROM CENTER STRIP!!!!!

Good price for a quick overnight stay
Penny-pinching traveler Nov 21, 2009
I am always looking for an inexpensive place to stay when I am running someone to the airport who has a "red-eye" flight. I ... just need a clean bed and a decent bathroom without mildew. Admittedly I was drawn to Microtel by the price and was sold when I read that it included a complimentary hot breakfast. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice. I would most likely stay at this hotel again.

My stay was very enjoyable because I was there on business and needed to be rested for the all day seminars I was attending. ... There were no distractions, although one block from the strip. It was clean, quiet, well maintained, cost-effective, and the staff was very helpful. I would not hestitate on staying there again on my next business or pleasure trip. Outstanding!

FOF Traveler Nov 13, 2009
This location is right next to the outlet shopping mall with plenty of dining options. They serve a great free hot ... breakfast, which I had before attending a seminar at another hotel without this amenity. The staff was friendly and helpful even with my late check-in time. My room was nice with microwave and fridge. It's located on Las Vegas Blvd, but away from the strip. It was quiet and nice to just kickback without all the hoopla of casino slot machines all over the place. Definitely would stay again!

Not bad for one night
Quick in-and-out Vegas getaway traveller Nov 9, 2009
I like staying at these kinds of hotels whenever we are in Vegas. They are very quick and easy to get in and out of, not ... like the strip resorts which can take as much as 10-15 minutes to go from parking your car to your room (especially when you're dead tired already and just want to get to bed). Getting to my room from behind the wheel of my car took about 20 seconds total. The "free" continental breakfast was decent enough is on par if not better than breakfasts that I have had before in similar type establishments. The rooms were very clean. The entire place seemed like new like if it was less than a year old. Oh, one thing I didn't like in particular was the location. It's not exactly the best part of town and some of the back streets behind the place look just downright scary to drive at night. Overall I enjoyed my stay, I only spent enough time at the hotel to shower and sleep anyways and this place serves that purpose very well.

The outlet mall is literally across the street. I thought the traffic would be busier especially for a Saturday but I guess tough times and a slow economy are to blame for that.

Clean and Civilized and Smoke Free!
johnnycowgirl Nov 6, 2009
I needed a hotel close to the airport but not in the melee of crazytown. The man at the desk was extremely nice and helpful, ... the hotel is clean and bright and safe-feeling. The entire facility is smoke-free, so none of my bags or clothes smell bad! Finding the tiny road to turn onto from Las Vegas Blvd was a slight challenge but I phoned the desk and the clerk gave me clear instructions on how to find the place. Other reviews were so positive I thought this would be a fancier hotel, but it's pretty humble; no glitz, no products in the bathrooms, no Welcome Guest Book with all the town's offerings. No room service, etc. Totally simple. You park your own car and there's nothing to suggest you're in Vegas. The breakfast buffet is not delicious (I had hot water) but it was clean and presented with care. It's for people who eat only white food-- I shopped at Whole Foods down the road the night before so I had my tea and fruit in my room. The rooms have a fridge and a microwave. The fitness room is 24 hours and there is a treadmill and 2 other machines. Free wireless, nice and fast. I would totally stay here again.

The outlet mall is across the street. It's amazingly vast. Lots of food, too. A short drive away is a Whole Foods market with a yoga studio inside! Buy wine and cheese and fruit for the room, eat made to order Korean BBQ or pizza or chicken soup.

Hotel was very clean and smoke-free. Pool and exercise room were great and maintained well. Breakfast was good (not ... fantastic). I found nutritious food. Only complaint that Saturday morning had about four soccer teams crowded the breakfast area. Actually, kids were fine, the parents were noisy!

Rusty Oct 27, 2009
This hotel is way south of the main strip, so if you are interested in that you may pass on this hotel. The rooms are pretty ... small/narrow and so it was a good thing that the TV was a nice flat screen. The room, bathrooms, and hotel were very clean and the service was stellar. The only weird thing about the room was that one complete wall above the headboards was a giant mirror, disconcerting for us, but fun for our two boys. The worker ([...])at the front desk even called our room after check-in to see if we needed a complimentary crib for our little one. This is a smoke free hotel with NO CASINO which was exactly what we wanted. Breakfast was the typical waffle machine, biscuits, gravy, eggs formed to fit the biscuits, pancakes, juices, and the other general buffet style items (cereals, toast etc).

Stayed one night with an Elderhostel group, then 2 nights after the tour was over. Clean, quiet, resonably priced motel. The ... site is pretty remote. The description of "one block off the strip" is a bit deceiving...it is a long block!! The Deuce bus worked to get into the strip area, but it is a pretty long walk to the bustop near the outlet mall. There are many restaurants nearby, however.

KC Sep 28, 2009
I picked this location because it is several miles from the strip and I was with my 13 year old daughter. If you have ... transportation this location is a good spot but if you have to take a cab or public transportation it is a distance from the South strip. Microtel was clean, quiet and comfortable. Outlet Mall across the street and several places to eat that are close. This was exactly what I was looking for and my daughter and I had a great time. I visit Vegas about 10-15 times per year, my son is a student at UNLV.
