GREAT EXPECTATIONS NOT REALIZED

Overall the hotel met our needs with 2 exceptions. 1. The bathroom was ridiculously small. 2. No local broadcast TV ... available! the only format was TV/ Internet set up in such a way that it was inadequate and confusing. We were subsequently charged for subscription TV which we must have inadvertently accessed in our attempts to find local news. The charge was not waived.

I have stayed at this hotel four or five times, and it has been a consistently good experience. The rooms are well ... furnished, although not huge. The restaurant is quite good, and I usually don't like hotel restaurants. The service is excellent. The last time I was there I was wandering through the lobby with some letters in my hand, and the concierge came up to me to ask me if she could mail them for me - I didn't even have to ask anyone! The hotel shop has reasonably priced muffins, yogurts, fruit, or snacks if you don't want to spend time getting a full meal at the restaurant. The hotel is in a convenient location, as long as you have a car. It is right off the inner loop of the beltway, with reasonable access to Dulles airport and good access to downtown Bethesda, which has wonderful restaurants (with parking garages close by). However, if you need to go into Washington, you will need to take the hotel shuttle to the nearest Metro station.

This is a well-run hotel with a surprisingly good hotel restaurant. It is conveniently located near the Beltway and not far ... from a Metro station, although you must take the hotel shuttle to the metro station or enjoy a longish walk if it is a nice day. Downtown Bethesda, not too far, offers a wonderful variety of restaurants. The staff was particularly helpful and welcoming. The rooms were well cared for but not particularly large.
