The keynote of the international is the feeling of grown-up glamour and sophistication that reigned throughout the Kennedy years – the golden age of All-American-Style; full of promise and ambition. This is not Austin Powers or Warhol Pop. Think Babe Paley; think dressed up, crisp clothed jet-setters and kings of commerce enjoying a classic champagne cocktail, nibbling an elegant snack, while engaging in intense flirtation and conversation into the wee hours – after all one can always stay over.
No. 10 Thomas offers Contemporary American cuisine and the perfect ambience for any meal. Watch the “Early birds” at Logan Circle in the morning, sunbathers taking a dip in our pool after lunch, or the sunset over National City Christian Church in the evening. Sip a Glass of Champagne or enjoy a cocktail by candle light on our Poolside terrace and make a wish while counting the shooting stars over Washington D.C.

Good value
Globular Clusters Jan 22, 2010
I was in DC for just 2 nights to attend some business meetings. I needed something under $100/night in the heart of the ... business district so I took a chance on the Washington Plaza Hotel and booked online. I don't need any frills when I travel, just a quiet and clean place to sleep. This hotel was perfect for that and a good value for the money, especially compared to the places costing at least twice as much in the same neighborhood. The bed was comfortable, the linens very clean, the bathroom functional and spotless, the TV worked, and despite being close to a major intersection (Thomas Circle) the room was very quiet at night. My only complaints are minor: changing the thermostat made no difference in the room temperature (a comfortable 74 degrees the entire time I was there, but I had hoped to cool it down for sleeping), and the wireless internet signal in the room was too weak to be useful so I sat in the comfortable lobby to use my laptop. But if you want a room for a reasonable price and a good value in the heart of the city, this is a very good deal compared to the other choices you have.

Deflated
Regular traveller Jan 6, 2010
Before I even checked in they were trying to extract money from me. Firstly they said my vehicle was too tall and would have ... to pay over $30 a day valet parking. I later checked their parking. My vehicle was two inches lower than the limit and three vehicle already in the parking were taller than mine. When confronted with this the night manager apologised and said we would not be charged. At check out even after this was explained still charged. Everything is designed to rip more money off you with no consideration as to how they can make your stay better. I would not stay there again if they paid me. I have never made a complaint against a hotel before and I travel commercially all the time. This hotel is the equal worst I have ever stayed at.

Very pleasant, very convenient
Yellohorse Dec 26, 2009
I was in DC on business, and the location on Thomas Circle was easy walking distance from all I needed - work, entertainment, ... culture, food. I liked the appearance of the spacious lobby. The room was relatively small, which I consider a plus, as it is not wasteful. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, the towels thick and warm, and all the necessary conveniences provided (hair dryer, iron, etc). The door leading to the outdoor balcony was desperately in need of weather-stripping, however, so there was a little problem of cold drafts (the weather was particularly cold and windy). That is the only item that pulled my rating down from five stars. The staff was, without exception, extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Their assistance was instantaneous and always professional. I appreciated that when I had the "Do Not Disturb" sign up for a few days in a row, it was honored. Other places where I have done that, the cleaning crew came in anyway! I enjoyed the good food served at the tasteful bar, both the happy-hour noshes and the menu foods. The cost through the web was exceptionally good for this location, and I would definitely choose this place again, whether for personal or business travel.

Superb Location. I walked to most of the main attractions in 15 minutes and enjoyed my visit to washington primarily due to ... this hotel location. For the money you pay the returns one get to me appeared excellent. The hotel is clean, rooms are sufficiently big and tidy and bathrooms are clean. The hotel front reception area appeared dull and very unattractive

Outstanding deal
Tim Nov 25, 2009
We were there strictly for vacation. While not perfect, the location is very good. It was about a 6 block walk (downhill) to ... the Metro station. There were always cabs available if we wanted one. The hotel restaurant was very good - not a huge menu - and worked out great when the weather turned against us. There is a growing area for restaurants, shops, and a Whole Foods just about 4 blocks away on P street. The staff could not have been nicer, especially in the restaurant. The bar is quiet but well appointed. The hotel is apparently into a floor-by-floor renovation. While I did not see the new rooms myself, my wife said that they were very nice. If you are the kind of person who needs to be surrounded by fabulous decor and trendy rooms, this may not be for you however. The lobby area, while absolutely spotless, was a stylistic mish-mash from several different decades. The rooms, again, absolutely spotless, were not overly large and had some unusual decorating choices. But this was all very minor to me. Cleanliness and good service are what I need from a hotel and this one had both. There is a fitness center but I did not partake. There is a large pool with a huge surrounding deck area but it was closed for the season.

I could not have been more pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Washington Plaza. The room was very clean, all ... furnishings were in good shape and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The location could not be better and the price was very reasonable. The exterior of the hotel is a little dated but don't let that fool you, the lobby and the rooms have been recently renovated and they are done in very good taste. I did not eat at the hotel's restaurant because there ares o many options nearby.
