I booked online and got a smoking great deal! So, I checked out the user reviews and the website pictures, etc. I finished ... the booking and everything was correct at check-in time. Great front desk and housekeeping staff. We thoroughly enjoyed how this vintage hotel has been very well maintained; and even more pleased with the cleanliness of our room. A job well done.

This hotel has a Chicago Transit map that shows you all the train and subway lines and bus route, so deffinately pick one up. Also at some stations you can buy a CTA 3-day pass for $14 and get unlimited rides on all city busses, trains, subways, etc. IT was such a cheap easy way to get around!! Right across the street is AHZA Thai resturaunt it is EXCELLENT and abundant servings for a good price!!

WONDERFUL HOTEL
Honeyspiders Nov 14, 2009
This place was so beautiful and charming. It was like spending three nights in a friend's home. I loved that they let the ... building show it's age (in a good way) there was radiant heat, crown-moulding, art-deco light fixtures, etc. Yet it was very clean and neat. It was is an AWESOME location. Right next door to a major CTA station. We rode the bus, subway, and el trains everywhere we wanted to go. My only dislike was that the bathroom was rather small for two people trying to get reay for an event. But if we weren't always running late, it probably wouldn't have mattered!! Also, i am a light sleeper and suffer from insommnia and you could hear the el-trains alot. But i actually slept fine and the sounds didn't bother me at all, to be honest i kind of liked it, it was oddly comforting, but i thought i would let otheres know, just in case!!

The hotel was conveniently located to what we wanted to do. The place was clean and comfortable. I understand the rooms are ... on the small size due to the amount of space available. It was right next to a train entrance and that was great! Even though the train was right outside the window, the noise level was very light.

Great Stay!
Cubs Fan Aug 12, 2009
I really enjoyed the stay at City Suites Hotels in Chicago. The staff went beyond the call of duty to make sure our stay was ... memorable. The parking garage was close as well a Wrigley Field. I was worried about the noise as we stayed on the side of the train, but this caused no distractions for us. The only thing that could have made our trip better was a Cubs win. Maybe next time.

I had easy access to the CTA Elevated Train. When I asked for a room away from the EL side, they accommodated me. Breakfast ... was simple but with many choices. Lounge attractive and clean. Room attractive and very clean. Decent towels, quality toiletries. Uses Window air conditioners. Easy to use but blocked the street view. Located in a great neighborhood. I felt safe and enjoyed the many shops.

Use the EL/CTA train to get around if you plan on doing lots of sightseeing. Its cheap, fast, and located right at the Hotel. However, avoid riding the train from downtown at rush hour or game times at Wrigley Field. The trains get packed intensely!

The City Suites was a beautiful historic hotel with friendly service staff, but the room was quite small with no view and ... there was excessive noise at all hours. Location near Wrigley field and other attractions was great. Just be sure to ask for a quiet room away from the elevators and main halls where rowdy Cubs fans congregate.

HIGH END AMENITIES FOR A REASONAL PRICE
ROBERT FROM NYC Jun 11, 2009
THE ROOM I STAYED IN WAS A BEAUTIFUL CLEAN SUITE WITH 2 QUEEN BEDS & AND A CONVERTIBLE COUCH IN THE LIVING ROOOM AREA. THE ... MATTRESSES WERE COMFORTABLE, HAD FLUFFY COMFORTERS & MINK FEELING BLACK BLANKETS. EACH ROOM HAD A NICE SIZE FLAT PANEL TELEVISION WITH MULTIPLE CABLE CHANNELS. THE BATHROOM WAS ROOMY & HAD LARGE THICK SOFT WHITE TOWELS. WALL MOUNTED HIGH QUALITY SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, BODY WASH & BODY LOTION DISPENSERS ADDED A LUXURIOUS TOUCH. EACH ROOM ALSO HAD AN IRON, BLOW DRYER AND WET BAR. ALTHOUGH THE HOTEL WAS NEAR THE TRAIN, AND ON A BUSY STREET, OUR ROOM FACED THE BACK AND WAS EXTREMELY QUIET. THE WINDOW VIEW WAS OF A BRICK WALL, BUT WHO CARES? EVERY MORNING BREAKFAST INCLUDED DONUTS, BAGELS, BOILED EGGS ETC. COFFEE. TEA AND HOT CHOCOLATE WERE SUPPLIED 24 HOURS A DAYS, AND EVERY EVENING COOKIES WERE ALSO OFFERED. THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. THE MAIDS PROVIDED IMPECCABLE SERVICE, AND PLACED A CARD EVERY MORNING WITH THE DAILY WEATHER FORECAST. THE ONLY THING LACKING WAS ENOUGH STORAGE & DRESSER SPACE,ESPECIALLY SINCE THE SUITE COMFORTABLY SLEEPS 4 PEOPLE. THE LOBBY WAS NICELY FURNISHED, BUT I DID NOT LIKE THE STRONG SMELL OF INCENSE THAT PERMEATED EVERYTHING; AND SINCE THE ENTIRE HOTEL WAS A SMOKE FREE ZONE, I FELT THAT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. I WAS PLEASANTLY SUPRISED BY MY STAY AT THIS HOTEL, AND DEFINITELY WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN

Great location for Clark & Halsted shopping, restaurants, bars. Wrigley baseball just north on Clark. > Next door to Red ... Line's Belmont Station, yet was not disturbed by "L" noise. Continuous, talented, street musician (drum set)from 3pm check-in drove us to request room change from Belmont-view. Offered two rooms away from the street: still no problem w. Clean and Comfortable
Jani May 12, 2009
Beautiful hotel, pleasant staff, very clean room, ultra comfortable bed and linens. We had a little bit of a security ... incident one night when returned to the hotel right after a drunken guest had entered. He had just missed knocking my daughter over with his cab door in the street. We tried to avoid him at the entrance as he fumbled to get his key to work, only to find him a few minutes later trying to get his key card to work on the door to our room! We went to the desk and asked for help from the desk clerk, he went upstairs and could not find the inebriated gentleman. It would have been nice if he could have walked us back up to the room to make sure the gent had not come back. Only problem we had during 5 day stay in Chicago. We loved this hotel, it has a great location for us, my daughter within a couple blocks.

City Suites Chicago is a friendly, urban hotel with stately charm. It has quiet rooms, despite being next to a commuter train ... station. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, who would like a central location from which to explore Chicago. The rooms are clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfasts are sumptuous.

We've stayed here twice, mostly because of the location. It's right near an el station - super convenient to reach anywhere ... you're going quickly. There are rockin' gift shops on both sides, several excellent breakfast spots, both Indian and Thai food within a block, and a liquor and drug store just down the street. The staff is pleasant and accommodating, coffee and tea are available 24/7 and the selection of classic vocal music in the lobby is grand! Decent continental breakfast as well.

Great location, right next to subway, easy 10 mintues to downtown loop. Hotel is older, and small, creaky rooms. I went in ... late Fall when weather was cooler (low 40's), and the only heat was a window unit (airconditioner/heater), which was not very efficient. In fact, when we turned in out, it blew a fuse in the room. I think the location makes it a great find, but they need to do simple upkeep.

Listen to the EL All Night Long
Rodger Oct 19, 2008
This hotel was very expensive for the value returned. The EL was just about 100 feet outside our window. The suite was very ... small - not really larger than a standard room. Parking was over a block away and is an extra charge of over $20/day. I was told not to lose the parking card (which did not work) or I would be charged $250! It was a big hassle to checkin and checkout on Belmont Ave which is a very busy street. The room was more like being on a submarine than a hotel room.
