Great location
Sloth Dec 15, 2009
This was a two day get away as a Christmas present to each other. We do this every year and try a different hotel each time ... but they are usually right around Union Square. The Villa is right accross the street from Macy's. The hotel is 101 years old but has had a lot of renovation. The staff was very friendly and the hotel has it's own bar and restaurant although we didn't try them. Make sure you ask for a quiet room. Ours was on the street side and there is a lot of noise during the night.

When we arrived we were greeted by the people at the front desk. There was no wait and they gave us a map of the location ... and things to do while we were there. They spent time with us going over the map and telling us about all the events that would take place that week. They also gave us a list of favorite places to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We felt very welcomed upon arrival! The room was fine...a little on the small side for the amount of money you pay. Closet is very small, so don't try to unpack everything. Bathroom was small too but had great products! Overall our room was very clean, quiet, and bed was comfortable! We were only in it to sleep so it did not matter that much. The location made up for it! You are close to everything! Great restaurants, shopping, and sight seeing. We would stay here again, because of the wonderful bar and restaurant, location, and staff!

The bar and restaurant were great! Food was excellent. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The bar had very friendly staff, great selection of food and drinks.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay @ the Villa Florence! We loved that everything was easily accessible from the ... hotel. We would head out in the morning and could usually swing by the hotel again around noon if we needed too. We would usually come back to the room and layer up around 6pm seeing how its starts to get chilly then. We were in SF during July. It was great that we could just jump on the public transit system and easily pop in and out and be on our way again. We also had a great view of Union Square! We would definitely recommend this place to all!!! Happy Travels Ciao! Vanessa Delgado

Villa Florence
Megs Aug 15, 2009
Villa Florence has a great location and is easy to get to from the 101. It's in the heart of Union Square. Upon arrival I had ... my car valet parked. Check in was easy. The room was cute and clean, a little small though. Only 2 blocks from the BART station. A good overall location. The only problem I had with this hotel was the housekeeping did not respect our "Do Not Disturb" sign while we were out. They seemed to come in anyway and do some unnecessary cleaning. Other than that the experience was great!

Go to the mission to eat! They have cheaper more authentic food in the mission district. About a 15 min BART ride, or a 10 min drive.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is in an excellent location for starting one's adventures in San Francisco. ... Walking right out our door we went to Chinatown, strolled down Market Street to the Embarcadero and on to Pier 39 (Took a Catamaran cruise on the bay), Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square. Also took in the view at Alamo Square and then walked most of the length of Haight to Golden Gate Park. Visited Golden Gate Park and spent a lot of time in the Botanical Gardens. Overall we had a great time.

Get a 1,3, or 7 day pass for the cable cars. $5 a trip otherwise. The hotel offers a shuttle to the airport for $45 total but for just one or two people take the BART system, its $8 per person and 2 blocks away from the hotel.

This boutique hotel was clean, and appeared to be recently updated. The rooms were a good size for San Francisco, especially ... the bathroom. The attached restaurant was excellent and reasonably priced for the area. There is also a wine/cappuccino bar in the lobby that is a nice way to finish the day. There is a business center in the lobby that allows guests to use the computer and has printer access. The staff were very friendly and check-in and check-out was quick and efficient. The hotel is 2 blocks from the public transportation station and from the start of the cable car line. It is also 1 block from Union Square. The rooms that face the street can be a little noisy if you are a light sleeper, but being able to hear some of the street musicians was classic San Francisco.

The Villa Florence is centrally located in Union Square near great shopping and restaurants. The staff was helpful, ... professional and polite. The room was clean and well appointed. After reading several reviews before we left for San Francisco, we were concerned about the room size. The room size was very adequate for two adults in a standard queen room. The only problem was the lack of a operational ice machine on each floor. We had to go from the 4th to the 2nd floor to get ice daily. The business center was convenient and accessible. I would recommend this hotel to anyone desiring to stay in downtown San Francisco.
