An amazing price for the location. In the heart of the city, it is very close (short walk) to Union Square and to public ... transportation. Very convenient to walk to the mall, a place to eat, or the buses and not far from the Powell BART station at all. Close by to an excellent breakfast place too, Sears. The line was out the door, but moved very fast and the food was very good.

If you book through [...] there is NO complimentary breakfast at Starbucks. Ignore what the Hilton's web site says; we were ... told it does not apply to [...] reservations. Wireless internet is NOT free in the public areas unless you have paid the hotel's outrageous daily rate. Bring your own drinks, snacks, etc and empty the room's 'frig and then replace their "goodies" before you leave. You won't want to pay their outrageous prices. On the 8th floor several of the elevator lights didn't work and there were open/unlocked access panels.
Traveler type: Couples
BART delivers you four blocks below the hotel; not a steep walk, but not around the corner either.

Not really similar to the Hilton hotels elsewhere in the world. Far too big and still has old rooms close to the new ... ones. No wifi...!!!!! Parking was very expensive: $45 a day. Breakfast in the lobby at Starbucks in line with many many people??? Not really a 5strs breakfast. Service: concierge did not know where did adress of a restauarant published in their inside magazine was. Overall qualty does not exceed a good 3 star business hotel.

Happy Traveler Oct 13, 2009
We were in San Fran for vacation for Fleet Week. And although there were a TON of people in town, we still expected a lower ... cost hotel, but the Hilton San Fran was really expensive. The room was nice, clean, a little small, quiet. But not worth the $350 a night. I would have paid maybe $120 in any other city. The check in staff was not friendly. The door men were helpful, but curt. We still had a great time, but I would have expected more for the price we paid.

Nice Hotel
Tonya Oct 6, 2009
The hotel was very busy and very large. The staff were very friendly. Our room could have been a little cleaner (ie. bathroom ... faucets dirty). The shower did not have much water pressure. Our room was near the elevator and the walls seemed pretty thin. The pool and hot tub area was very nice. The location was close to shopping, the cable car line and the AT&T park (Giants) but was a little further away than we liked from the Fisherman's Wharf area. The value was very good for the rate we paid. The hotel restaurant is unique and very good. There is also a Starbucks in the hotel lobby which was nice.
Traveler type: Couples
The ballpark was close and we got a great deal on tickets. The cable car line is also nearby and for a vistor, $11 per day to ride the trolleys is a great way to see the city and not walk up the steep, steep hills!

On arrival they did not have the king bed room i had paid for. I spent the first night in a double bed room. Which was at ... first very disappointing. They more than made up for it by upgrading me to a much nicer room for the remaining three days of my trip. I felt they really won me over by giving me such a big upgrade. It made me want to stay in there (especaily in that room) again.

Great Room
Meg Oct 5, 2009
It was a busy weekend in San Francisco, with several festivals and the Cal-USC game. However, the Hilton seemed capable of ... dealing with the crowds and was very friendly. Our room was beautiful and we had a nice view of the city. My only complaint is that our room was near the elevator, and we heard every person getting on and off the elevator.
Traveler type: Couples
I would highly recommend not parking in the hotel parking lot if you drive. There are plenty of near by parking garages. We paid only $15 to park overnight, as opposed to $50 at the hotel. For 24 hour parking, we saw rates as low as $29, again compared to $50. Great way to save some money!

Enjoyable Hotel
bmwbiker Sep 29, 2009
Hotel was efficient for check-in and room was very nice on 17th floor in Tower 2. Room looked west, with great view. Only ... problem, even on 17th floor, traffic noise (horns in the morning) were a bit loud. If you want a quieter room (without the view) request one facing the pool area - as a friend of ours had. Also, if you have a few minutes waiting for friends, wait in the lobby - the show is amazing there!

From SFO take BART. $8.10 from SFO to Powell stop. It is a short walk to the Hilton...and a lot less than a cab from the airport.

Only a few blocks to the shops @ Union Square and the cable car stop. China Town is about 5-6 blocks. Other tourist areas such as Fishermans Wharf, Pier 39, Golden Gate Park, Presidio, etc., can be reached via this city's excellent public transporation service (bus, trolleys and cable cars) - I recommend purchasing a Muni pass. If renting a car, there are 2 garages across the street from the hotel which are substantially lower than parking @ the hotel.
