All you can eat / Bad beach
LuisYAlicia Sep 23, 2009
Nothing really bad. I would say everything is OK or normal, with the exception of 2 things: 1. You can't have a snack or a ... coffee or a regular meal. You have 2 choices: all inclusive or buy an all-you-can-eat meal. If you just want something small, you can't have it. If you want a cup of coffee, you can't have it. It is all or nothing. 2. I realize in Cancun most of the beaches are bad. Some of them have rocks, stones and waves. So you can't swim. Some other ones are too grassy. You can't swim at all. My recommendation is no Cancun. Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel have beautiful beaches. And hotels are cheaper. Except for those 2 issues, the rest is OK.

Service good, water seaweed
Mr. Plan B Aug 20, 2009
Cancun Arenas is a very clean and well run facility. Most of the attendants aer bi-lingual. Those that are not are quick to ... find another who is. The resort seems to be a fabulous location for Mexican tourists. Great dinner service.One-on-one waiter at the Italian sit down restaurant. Plus, it was all you could eat. However, the regular buffet was rag tag. I've had much better on Cancun. The beach area is tiny and the water's edge is laced with unpleasant seaweed. For an all-inclusive resort, there was no snorkeling, scuba lesson available, contrary to the booking. I will probably choose another resort. I like variety, and the nays make it diffuclt to want to go back.

Never again!!
mr. Tom Jul 25, 2009
My wife and I were totally disappointed in this hotel and staff. I am sorry to say We will never stay there again. We were to ... stay 10 days, but besides my wife becoming ill, the overall international flare wasn't there. Your hotel and staff catered to the Mexican people first before us American, or any white Anglo Saxons. First off, the buffet was 90% Mexican food. for all 3 meals a day. They must think that Americans eat nothing but french fries and hot dogs!! The nights we wanted to eat Italian it was closed because of a Mexican fiesta, or some other Mexican party night. The menu changed a little after I complained. One night it was totally Mexican food dinner show. I ended up eating fruit, and pastries for dinner. Now for the hotel. It was very clean, but very noisy!!. We did not get the rest and relaxation that we thought we'd get.The beach was a joke! Your web page shows this emerald green/blue water. We went down to the beach, and was shocked!! Once we got passed the smell of rotting seaweed and looked at the water, it was dirty and a gray color. We had planned to renew our wedding vows on the beach. My wife said "no way". We had to call the whole thing off. What? and other disappointment!! So maybe you need to send some one from your staff to check out this place..Maybe you will remove it from your web site. Sure it's cheap! But I guess you get what you pay for.We have stayed at several all inclusive resorts, but by far this has been the worst! If I could get a refund I would jump at it in a minute. The one real positive thing was your Obitz's rep. down there. His Name was [...]. he worked very hard to please us and get our money back from tours we had booked but couldn't go due to my wife being ill.United Airlines personal were top notch!. The helped us change our flights and seating without and problems. I could go on, but I am sure you get my point.Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Boggs

Well your not in the us everyone around you looks at you funny and treats you like garbage. On our last day there while we ... were sleeping someone was trying to break into the room to obviously steal. The occupants next to us gotten their camcorder stolen the same night they tried to get into our room with a master key card so obviously it was someone that worked there and no it wasnt a cleaning person my husband got up to see who it was and they ran. So go there at your own risk.

Ms. T and Mr. Q. May 5, 2009
My wife and I were very pleased with the staff at the hotel. They were ready to serve. We did go to the 70' show they had ... at the hotel. We walked on the beach and on the road. The all inclusive was the deal of the century. We really enjoyed the food. We also did horse back riding off the hotel property but booked it at the hotel. My wife enjoy this too. This trip is right up with some of the other trips we have taken. I must add this to my comment. The person from Cheap Ticket that assisted in our booking of this trip was very helpful. I lost the paper with her name on it, but I know she have two cats. She made sure my wife and I sat together on the airplane, by checking the seating coming and going. She gave a great suggestion on calling the hotel to get an ocean view room. I will say that with the way she assisted us, I will always book with Cheap Ticket. I did speak with her supervisor to comment her.

The resort was very close to downtown Cancun and it was very easy to take a bus there (about 3 KM). We did not do the all ... inclusive as just my wife and I wouldn't and shouldn't eat and drink that much. We did eat the last night's meal at the hotel and the food was very good. Ate our evening meals in local restaurants in the downtown area. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the price was very reasonable. We would recommend this hotel to couples or families as it was a great place to stay.

Holiday Inn CANCUN ARENAS
Buckeye Mike Feb 24, 2009
Pro- - Internet access was decent. - Room was clean and comfortable. Con- - I'm really glad we didn't go for the all ... inclusive package. After we got settled in and listened to what the other guests were saying. the restaurants were basically serving cafeteria style food. And the driks were served in little plastic dixie cups. - Not really within walking range of any shopping or nitelife. We walked downtown one day. About two miles. - The small section of beach was dirty. If you are planning on spending serious time sunbathing or on watersports then this is not the hotel for you. The water is full of seaweed. - Four lanes of traffic were beneath our balcony. Almost impossible to talk in room with door to balcony open. - The hotels restaurants were rarely open. - The pool was freezing cold. - The location of the hotel prevents you from grabbing a quick lunch or dinner. You are far out from the tourist restaurant areas. You can eat at the hotel for a less them memorable experience. - Vending machines were almost empty of items the whole five days we were there. - Absolutely no place to buy consumables. You have to get on a bus or taxi to get anything. They do have a small store at the hotel. It was only open one day we were there.

The hotel was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the nite x2 in the week we ... were there and no one alerted us to what was going on. We were upgraded to an ocean view without additional charge. The only thing we didn't like is; the hotel is a long ways from any resturants, marinas, entertainment. We did not do the all inclusive option, so we left the hotel many times for meals and it was always quite a ways to travel.Price was good. Staff good. Rooms spacious and always very clean. Beach was small, but enough room, as there were not many tourist there at the time we went. [...]- the bellboy was very nice.

Patricia Sep 29, 2008
The Holiday Inn Arenas was a very nice place to stay. It wasn't very crowded at the time we went. Our room was a decent size ... and it faced the ocean with a balcony. Unfortunateley Mother Nature didn't work in our favor a few of the days we were there. We really enjoyed ourselves and would like to go back one day. The staff were all very friendly and polite. They went out of thier way to make us feel welcome.

My review of Holiday Inn CANCUN ARENAS
Kimberly Jun 26, 2008
It is a nice looking hotel and on the beach. But one day when there wasn't that many people on the beach and practically no ... one under thier beach umbrellas, the staff tried to kick out two people from the hotel next door. This is a vacation for many people and just the fact that the staff was so worried about making a point about it upset me a little. I could understand if it was busy and there was many people, but there was not. Hospitality was lame, the first night that we got there I wanted to get a drink at the bar. Since I dont speak very good Spanish, I couldnt understand that the bartender wouldnt serve me a drink without a wristband. You would think that when we checked in that the staff would have let us know that we needs to buy all inclusive wristbands to drink or eat anything. Then the last day we were there, I guess for the wristbands the front desk staff had to cut the braceletts the next day. I did not know that since they are trying to tell you many things and cut the wristband myself. My last day there I was angry, plus they charged me $4.50 for every phone call that was made, all local calls in Cancun, and even an 1-800 number. I would never stay there again just for the fact that I left there feeling like my money was stolen from me.
