Wilderness Lodge never disappoints its the best price for a deluxe resort. Our room was 20 feet from the self service eatery ... it was so convenient. I really like this resort. It was a birthday/Halloween trip The Mickey Not So Scary Halloween party was great. And the next day my middle child she turned 6 then we went to Cinderallas castle for breakfast. This time of year there isn't a lot of crowds but unforunate it was unseasonable warm. All in all great trip Thank you Wilderness Lodge

You cannot eat dinner on the lodge restaurant without reservations, and without notice after a long day at the park, they ... blocked the hall walkway with a table we had to move to get to our room because they were redoing the wood floors. Not to mention my husband has a walking disability and they set us up in the room farthest, I do mean the farthest room away from the elevator.

Chilly reception by Disney?
weary Disney Traveler May 30, 2009
Upon our arrival to the hotel, I didn't have to wait long to check-in. However the man at the reception desk greeted me ... saying "Welcome to Wilderness Lodge, now go home through the same doors you came in." At this point I had only said 'hello' so I'm not sure what prompted this- a previous guest? or just a bad day. I mentioned that it didn't seem like a 'Happiest place on earth' way to greet someone but then he pointed out that Disney was the second happiest and that the happiest was the company that recently gave their employees a million dollar bonus. Good point. Rest of the interaction went okay he even upgraded me which I was surprised by b/c of the first interaction with him. The hotel itself is very nice, great location to MK and it offers two boat options -one is to the MK and the other is to the other hotels on the Lagoon- this includes the Contemporary Hotel so you can essentially avoid the buses if you wanted to. The staff all seemed to need a refresher course on customer service friendliness. After leaving several notes for the maid we finally talked to her to ask if she could leave towel animals for our child. Our Mickey doll was never arranged so it looked like he was doing something while we were gone (something Disney is or what we thought known for). The front desk gave me a hard time about picking up my tickets I ordered online through them. And then of course my odd experience checking in. It was almost like we came right after some nasty customers so that when they saw us coming they weren't happy to see us. Shame on Disney. Bathroom in the room was dark and cramped. Another annoyance was that there was a trigger that would turn on a very loud fan every time you walked in to the toilet/shower area - our 4 year old was scarred of fan b/c of how loud it was.

Use a limo service instead of the Magical Express - many will meet you before baggage claim to help you with your bags and ours was parked at the front door in the lower level garage so there was no hike to the car. Furthermore they will stop at a grocery store before dropping you at your hotel. We bought lunch meat, milk, cereal, a case of water and lunchables that didn't require any cooking before eating. This saved us a bundle of money b/c we essentially only ate one meal out. Wilderness Lodge rooms come with a frig so you can easily stock up. While at the front desk saw other guests complaining about the meal plan- b/c they didn't like being told where they had to go when they ate. We were happy we didn't do the meal plan. Also any character or special buffets will have whole fruit out = you paid for the buffet so we would take the fruit to have in the room later. This also saved some money b/c whole fruit at a counter service restaurant was $1.

Great Family Resort!
Ryan-Triathlete May 25, 2009
My Fiance' and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for Ironman Florida 70.3. The loation was great and the hotel was pretty ... neat. no complaints except for the food choices. There is really no where else to eat in close proximity besides the at the hotel. The food was not bad but it was pricey. But Thats Disney.

Solid, not spectacular
G Money Apr 23, 2009
Well, it's a Disney resort, so it's going to be pretty good. Love the decor, love the amenities. But if you're trying to ... wedge 4 people into the basic room, it's a little tight - the suites are much larger, but they're seriously spendy, and you're probably better off heading over to Saratoga Springs if you want the suite. For the first time ever at Disney, we got a dirty room, and rather than a sincere apology, we got a mostly indifferent response. Almost as if saying "Hey, it's a huge hotel, give us a break if you have a big pile of potato chips at the edge of the bed." Still, you cannot beat the convenient location - right next to Magic Kingdom, but if you're renting a car, follow the signs CAREFULLY, as it isn't marked well, and we missed the exit once. Love the Whispering Canyon Cafe - very fun dining, but make your reservations before you arrive. I'd recommend it for kids, but next time, we'll try a different Disney hotel.

Don't panic if you can't get into the Whispering Canyon Cafe - Artists Point can frequently accommodate late diners, and the snack bar place is open LATE.

My review of Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Maryann May 15, 2007
Hotel amenities were fine, great pool area. Liked the fact that the a snack area was open until 12 PM everynight. The hotel ... linked our Disney tickets to our room pass - so we were able to charge food and gifts to our room and pay one bill (great idea as we knew exactly what we spent on our trip). The things I didn't like was 1: refrigerator wasn't cold enough. 2: maid service should change the sheets when they get dirty, . I had fallen and cut my knee which in turn bleed on sheets durning the night 3: it seemed like only one boat went from the park to the hotel after 10 PM (closing)- taking an hour to get from the park to the hotel. There should be at least 2 boats running at night back and forth to the hotel.
