The animals are worth it, non-existent s
Love good service! Dec 3, 2009
The animals are fun to look at, if you can spot them that far away. Spa is open 8-8, as if anyone would use it during the ... day instead of a Disney park. Disastrous food - fast food and everything is pre-packaged including the tiny baby carrots and apples. No culinary urprises with shared kitchen for all three "eateries". You clean your own tables. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were WORK.

Great Hotel. You will enjoy it!
KARL AND BELINDA Nov 16, 2009
The hotel is great considering design, theme, and ambiance. Early check-in is a waste of time unless you are the member of ... some sort of privileged club of some sort. We ordinary guests arrived about 12:00 hoping to check in right away but had to persist to get checked into a room by about 2:00. Of course they tell you they only guarantee check-in by 3:00 or 4:00 PM. Meanwhile, privileged guests are getting rooms as soon as they arrive. Pool is great for kids (although they have the rule that kids cannot slide down the pool slide with a parent makes no sense to me). Poolside bar is good for adults to buy beverages and sit around the pool. Sitting around the outside fire was very enjoyable for the whole family (they also have an in inside fire). Seeing the animals in the wild was neat, especially the giraffes and zebras. Boma dinner buffet is a nice treat. Price is reasonable. Definitely go there. Wait staff is fabulous and food is good. They deserve a good tip. Boma breakfast buffet is a rip-off... no more than an over-priced Golden Corral with fewer choices, long lines and frequently out of food at various stations. Most of the cooking and food line staff seem bored with their jobs and indifferent to customers. If it were half the price it would be worth it. Gift shop is cool! Definitely go there. Overall, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a very worthwhile experience. You would enjoy it... can't quite give it five stars because of disappointing breakfast buffet.

Disney Animal Kingdom Adventure
Lala512 Oct 27, 2009
The hotel was rather neat. Lots of African cultural items throughout, not just in the lobby. We explored the hotel grounds ... and found many different places to view animals (including night time viewing with night vision goggles)and artifacts. The staff was very friendly and there were family activities in the hotel throughout the day. The buffet style restaurant on site had many American food items to appeal to those that may not be so adventurous. The counter service restaurant located near the pool was open late (11:30pm) and if you're staying there for a few days, its a good idea to get the refillable mug. The store at the hotel offered a great option for getting those last minute gifts as well as junk food (at a premium price). If you plan to go to Disney as we did, its not necessary to get a rental car. By using the Magic Express and Disney shuttles you'll be just fine.

The hotel is great. The attention to detail is remarkable and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are clean. We got a ... Savannah view, which was wonderful, but not sure if its worth the extra money. for us, we spent most of the day at the parks, although it was great when we got there, didn't really make use of it.

TJ Oct 21, 2009
If not for [...], I would not have booked this hotel since Disney charges over $300/night for the same room. I had a "pool" ... view but it was an obstructed pool view. We were over the resturant awnings on 2nd floor so we had a view of the roof more than the pool. The rooms are very small but we did not spend much time in them anyway. Don't blow your cash for Savanna view since there are several places you can watch the animals outside of your room.

I went to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for my 25th birthday, and I had an amazing time! The staff was extremely friendly, and the ... atmosphere was breath-taking. I highly recommend making reservations far in advance for both Jiko and Boma, as they fill up quickly; but the food is definitely worth it! Also, if possible stay in a savannah room, as waking up to zebras grazing in front of you is amazing! The only downside to the hotel was the price, but it was still worth it. I can't wait to visit again!

The lobby was beautiful and the animals roaming outside were spectacular. Our room was very average. Small, the bathroom was ... so small. We did not have the opportunity to eat at the hotel. The bus service to and from the hotel to the other parks was EXTREMELY slow and frustrating. Seemed like less buses went to animal kingdom lodge.

Disney Resort AKL
Mom of 1 Aug 27, 2009
Resort itself was great! There seemed to be an issue with having all of our transfers correctly done. I am not sure if this ... was because we were on a Disney Cruise beforehand (not booked directly with Disney) or because we book the AKL via Orbitz. On the way home, I had to call the transportation company myself to confirm our reservations and then we never got the voucher in our check out materials from AKL. I've done this before with Disney and never had this issue.

Our stay could not have been better. Upon arrival, we found that we were randomly chosen to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite ... and were given all the privileges of private club level guests. Our room faced the savanna and we had beautiful wild animals right outside our balcony!
