Overrun with screaming children
Disappointed Jul 5, 2009
My husband and I were hoping for a quiet weekend getaway. We specifically didn't choose the Strip because we didn't want ... parties or loud music. What we got instead was a kindergarten nightmare. Kids all over: running, screaming, crying. We were trying to enjoy a nightcap at the hotel lounge at 11 pm and there were small children (3-5 yrs old) in the bar, making forts out of the cushions! I do realize it was a holiday, but the hotel styled itself as a tranquil getaway with lounging near the pool, fountains, and fireplaces. It's not, as so many other reviewers have claimed, "a place to relax and enjoy nature." It's a place for families to hang out with other families and let their kids run wild. Good things: the room was quiet (thankfully), clean, and they have good in-room coffee. The restaurant was excellent and the staff was courteous and prompt. Bad things: out of control children. The hotel really needs to make it clear that this is a place for families and not for couples trying to have a relaxing weekend.

The bento box at Marssa, especially the lobster cakes and edamame dumplings. Yum!

Great Location! Away from the crazy Vegas strip but only a 20 minute drive. About 30 minutes to the Hoover Dam. Secluded ... and relaxing and great restaurants nearby. It costs around $50 to get there from the airport so it's best to just rent a car! Unfortunately the hotel staff was VERY RUDE and NOT HELPFUL at all. Staff at the front desk was the worst. She said she would check on some tickets for a show and she NEVER did. Then at checkout they tacked on an extra upgrade fee when we never agreed to it and then were degrading in explaining how I must have agreed to it! Luckily with internet we didn't have to rely on them for help on getting tickets to shows in Vegas or directions to other sites.

This was such a classy place on the Lake...so many others near Lake Mead are second rate....and that we could bring our dog ... with us in the hotel on a leash was so great.... We spent most of the days on the boat, but were delighted when we returned...the restaruants even served us late to accommodate us...All in all, the best.

We have been staying in this hotel for past 7 years. It's a great place for family vacation if you don't mind staying away ... from the Vegas strip and gambling (it's 30 mins to drive to the strip). You can relax and enjoy the sun at the beach or one of two swimming pools. Kids will especially enjoy the water slide.

Love going to Vegas to shop but hate the smoke filled casinos.... even if just passing through to get to ur room. $300++ ... rooms on the strip too much!!! We needed a place to relax and chill with my Pom in tow. Love Lake las Vegas area, felt like a movie star at this fabulous resort. They love pets! It was great. Our room opened up to a path that lead to the pet area. Unlike some places, the pet area was well maintained. We requested a microwave... The staff went above and beyong getting one to us ASAP. It was far from the strip just the way i like it, but close enough to do some power shopping!

Nice hotel, off the strip
micmorganicus May 25, 2009
Loew's Lake Las Vegas was an excellent resort. It sits about 30 minutes away from the Vegas Strip, so easy to get into town ... and gamble, but away enough to be quiet and restful. We came in the Thursday of Memorial Day weekend, and it was pretty slow on Friday morning, probably a third full...but by Saturday, It was hopping. Looked like a wonderful place to have a wedding. The staff were very helpful, even setting up a little anniversary gift for our arrival. The two pools were nice. The golf course looked fun, though the wind blew for a hour or two. We had a great time, resting by the pool in the morning, and driving to the strip in late afternoon.

Very elegant hotel. Dining is non-existent. Two restaurants - one was closed. The place is gorgeous but deserted. Great lake ... view and golf course. A lot of empty million dollar looking properties around. Casino at the nearby Montelago hotel - equally deserted. Hotel will charge a daily resort fee ($22). Bathroom is three-star.

Donna May 4, 2009
This was a spur of the moment weekend getaway for my husband and I. The hotel was more beautiful than I imagined. The staff ... was very nice and very helpful. The weather was cool so we didn't swim. It's definitely a keeper!! We'll be back very soon! Time was short so I was unable to make time for the spa services. We ate at a restaurant there and it was delicious, however, they start you off with a choice of waters and they don't tell you that you're being charged for it!!! That was a bit irritating.

Nikki Jun 16, 2008
The Loews Hotel was the greatest. We had breakfast vouchers for every day that we were there and the breakfast was ... excelent....many things to choose from. The pools are great...the pool food was reasonably priced and tasted great. We loved sitting on the patio, sipping a drink and listening to the water falls and sitting by the fire. There were plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view of the lake from the patio. The hotel was clean....no smoking in side was very wonderful. The hotel was very clean and smelled good. The room was comfortable. I hope to go back in the near future. We loved the atmosphere, village shopping, local casino and being able to run with such a beautiful view. I look forward to my next trip!

We came to Las Vegas to see a show but didn't want to stay on the strip and were happy to find a hotel without a noisy ... casino. We loved this hotel. I think it is the most relaxing place we have ever stayed. We didn't want to leave! We had planned on spending some more time seeing the sights on the strip but opted to just chill at the hotel instead. The lobby with the outside seating area was wonderful. The food was also delicious. We will definately stay here again!

Lake Mead is very close - if you are interested to visit the Hoover Dam. It is 16 miles from the strip - if you can't resist trying your luck with a winning hand. That are several golf courses at the resort. Probably very great in spring and fall - when it is not quite that hot.
