The hotel is beautiful, all suites and very specious and comfortable. The staff is very friendly. We loved this hotel so much ... we dicided to stay another night just to relax. They have a medium size pool and hot tub and a fitness room. The breakfast is great with cereal, yogurt, milk, coffee, cream cheese and bagels, O.J. Pretty good continental breakfast. The price was also great. I really enjoyed this hotel. Thank you

This place was definitely an older hotel, but the rooms are all suites so they are spacious. The price is much lower than ... other suite hotels. The courtyard was very tastefully done and peaceful. The bathroom had both a shower stall and tub, very unusual. The air conditioning wasn't the best. The vent seemed to cool the bathroom more than the bedroom, but it wasn't too bad.

Lobby, pool area and general grounds were very well maintained and presentable, however my room was dated, carpet was filthy, ... bedspread old, tv was old, did not feel comfortable in room. This is not the way I travel, I expect to be a bit more comfortable in my room. Because of these things, I did not want to relax in my room. Would not stay here again. Maybe if the rooms were more presentable.

Run for your life!
Stephanie Kator Feb 19, 2009
We booked three nights based on the photos of this hotel. We arrived and the lobby and pool area were very nice but the room ... was awful(nothing like the pictures). The minute you walk through the door an odor like a mildewing basement hit us in the face, unidentifiable stains on the carpet (which was separating from the walls). The TV came over on the Mayflower. The bathroom, I showered in LUKE warm water with my flip flops on. If you have allergies -don't atempt it! The air vent was covered in dust. Needless to say we cancelled the next 2 nights and stayed at the Raddison, which in comparison is the Plaza.

frances May 3, 2008
A very handy location for our stay in Fresno, but a very noisey group was also staying at the hotel. The noise went on until ... 3:00 am and started again at 8:00 am. Bath room show need of repair with water leakage on the floor. Hotel has a great courtyard with some very nice pieces of garden art.

Classy, but sitll remodeling
Donald Dec 2, 2007
A wonderful place to stay. They're re-doing the grounds and rooms and the outside looks gorgeous. The rooms that haven't ... been updated are a bit dilapidated, but still comfortable and clean. I'd recommend it as a great place to stay for anyone visiting Fresno who like a suite as opposed to just a room. The staff is terrific and friendly and they obviously hired a great designer.

My review of The San Joaquin Hotel
melissa Sep 25, 2007
There were two rooms, a living room and bedroom with plenty of closet space. The hotel is being renovated and should be ... even better when it is finished. There is a pool and hot tub, no fitness center. They serve a continental breakfast in a newley built glass house. The breakfast is so so.

Great Value!
Tracy Sep 24, 2007
The area, ammenities, and room were all great. We stayed in a partially renovated room which was quite nice: a two room suite ... with a bathroom which had a separate tub and large shower. There were many nice touches such as (excellent) complimentary coffee, teas and cookies in the lobby and a spa like garden area. The only issues we had were the sparse continental breakfast (coming at an earlier and a later time didn't matter - there was never any coffee and little food available), a 1/2 hour late wake-up call and a too firm bed. Other wise the place is fabulous for the price (and we stay at a lot of hotels!) We would definitely come back!

Great for business and longer stays
Diane Sep 15, 2007
The San Joaquin Hotel is more like a small appartment complex than a typical hotel. All rooms are full suites complete with ... one or more bedrooms and a family/living room with couch and chairs that is truly separate from the bedroom(s). Each suite has a refridgerator and microwave and lots of room. The suites have closets and cabinets which are wonderful for longer stays. The hotel is in the process of remodeling and some of the rooms are still rather worn (nicks on corners, worn carpet, etc.) but all are clean and well-maintained. The courtyard area is well-taken care of and furnished in a way that encourages sitting and reading. There is a pool, but I've never seen anyone using it. The bed is not the most comfortable in the world, but it is not so bad as to keep me away!

Spacious yet worn accomodations
Ramon Sep 12, 2007
This hotel continues its remodel. The location is good. The lobby is updated and nice, yet not representative of both rooms ... I've stayed at. The fitness room is tiny and not well equiped. The rooms are spacious, yet the furniture, walls, and fixtures are worn and tired. Both stays, each in separate rooms, did not have wireless access available in the bedrooms. Each time I used a different lap top, and could only get reception in the living room. The hotel is quiet, affordable, well-located. You get what you pay for at this time.

A gem in the valley
Richard Aug 8, 2007
We booked this hotel based primarily on its location and price, and were pleasantly surprised. It is undergoing remodeling, ... but the rooms are spacious and clean. The pool/garden area is something you would expect from a much higher end chain. The staff was very friendly. Once the remodeling is done on the inside, it will be just a pretty as the outside. The only downside was that they do not have cribs, so we had to make a bed for our 7 month old on the floor, but he didn't mind at all.

My review of The San Joaquin Hotel
Rieta Jul 14, 2007
The outside of the hotel and the lobby were beautiful. The staff was very helpful. The only thing was the room was old and ... needed updating. It smelled old. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. They said they were still remodeling, the rooms were next. So I honestly would give them another chance. I liked the location and felt totally safe there.

Dump Remodel
Leonard Jun 24, 2007
The Hotel San Joaquin was undergoing renovation, that is for sure. The staff was very indifferent and sometimes rude. There ... are some regulars that stay in the hotel and use the pool for their private party every night. Lots of drinking and noise. Staff didn't seem to be bothered. I will never stay there again. The bed was like a cardboard box, and the bathroom was filthy. I was afraid to touch anything. No vending machine for bottled water or soda.
