To avoid spending money on parking in NYC you can take the water ferry to 39th st in midtown. 10 tickets was about $60.00. We used them over 2 days compared to parking fees of about $75.00 for 2 days.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times because of its location near the light rail and Hoboken, but I have had a problem ... every time I stayed there. I had booked a room through multiple sites, such as the hotel's Web site, [...] and other booking sites, and every time, my reservation is wrong and they give me a hard time about changing it. Instead of doing the right thing and pleasing the customer with a simple room switch, this past trip, I had to call [...] customer service and have them call the hotel manager to make the switch. I was standing there the whole time but had to wait on hold for the [...] customer service woman to get it done. Obviously there was a room available since the problem was fixed an hour later, so why couldn't the manager fix the problem when I asked? I ended up being late to an event because of my last experience with the unhelpful and rude staff.

The hotel runs a shuttle to the Port Imperial Ferry. Only about a mile away from the hotel but the shuttle was easy and ran non-stop only had to wait about five minutes each time. Ferry drops you off some blocks from times square...it was a walk but doable or a short cab ride.

Take the Ferry into Manhatten. Its a 7 minute ride and your right there. Also, when you get into Manhatten, there are buses waiting to take you where you need to go also included in price of ferry which is the same cost as if you were driving there (Lincoln Tunnel) then you have to pay to park etc... Don't drive your own car!!!! Taxi, Ferry, Bus. Do what the locals do! I'm from California and first time in New York (despite rumors) New Yorkers are very nice down to earth people. Very Very Pleasant Surprise.

The views from the hotel were amazing. Short walk to Chart House, Ruth Chris steak house or Houlihans restaurants. Very short ... cab ride from Hoboken with many lovely places to eat and drink. The ferry to the city is easy and only an eight minute ride. We went in and out four times and it was not a problem. Would stay there again instead of in the city. Definitely worth it for the price. Did not get a chance to use the pool or exercise facilities but would do so if I had stayed longer. Room was bigger than any I stayed at in the city and it had a small kitchen also...nice touch.

Sadly disappointed
Kathy in Pa. Sep 21, 2009
The hotel was okay. Super location. The ferry does not run from there on the weekend, there is no parking at the ferry ... station south and parking is $10 at the ferry station north. Did not think I needed my laptop for just the weekend since most hotels have internet access for you anyway. Tried to use the internet in the business center since that was the only one they had and it wouldn't work. Well I found out that I needed to pay $.49 a minute to use it. What!!!!!!! I have stayed at many hotels much cheaper than this one and they never charged me. This is the most I have ever paid for a hotel and it was old and the air conditioner/ heater was really loud. The bed was about 18" from the wall since there were 2 queens in there. It was either the one up against the wall or the one right next to the really loud air conditioner. I asked for a king but they told me they were sold out of kings. Why would you put 2 people in a room with 2 beds. For a little more money I would have preferred to stay in Manhattan. I thought this was going to be really convenient to the ferry and we could just hop on and be in New York without the hassle. I was wrong. For my money I would stay in Manhattan next time. I also thought we would have a view of the Manhattan skyline which I thought would be beautiful and we did if you stood right by the window and pressed your face against the glass. If we had sat in the car in the parking lot we would have had a fabulous view but we are a little old for that. This was our 35th wedding anniversary and New York was fabulous. We had a great time but the hotel was a sad disappointment.

Location&View overshadows so so property
Traveler Sep 20, 2009
I was on a cross country road trip (coast to coast) starting with this property. The location was great and the view of ... Manhatten was great! Thats the good. The bad. The rooms are in desperate need of renovation (apparantly they had started already). Unfortunatey my room was an older room. Most of the staff was always eager to assist and help with the exception of one of the younger front desk gentleman who had this air about him with the lack of assistance and somewhat of a sarcastic individual. (mind you I'm in sales and 45 years old with 4 children) I don't just go around saying bad things. This one particular individual made me want to avoid the front desk when he was around. Again, the location is great and the evening view was fantastic. Other than that, its a mediocre property for a Sheraton.

We did the spirit of new york dinner cruise which was half a block away. We couldn't have asked for a better location other ... than the Sheraton. The staff was outstanding and overly courteous. The rooms were impeccable. We would definately stay there again. The restaurant downstairs had a wonderful brunch, a little pricey but needless to say, you get what you pay for. The hotel is also across from lincoln harbor which gives you outstanding views of the ny skyline.

The location was great. We had a very nice view of the New York skyline. The lobby was a little small but well appointed. ... The staff was quite friendly and helpful. As far as the condition of the room: the carpet needs a deep shampoo! It appeared to be filthy to me. We were short on washcloths in the bathroom and no bathmat upon arrival. Cloths were promply delivered by housekeeping. The bathroom appeared to be well-kept - no mold in the shower however the bathroom sink filled a little while running the water. Free parking is a great feature as NYC hotels will charge extra for this feature. Overall, I would recommend the hotel and would return.....

Good location, value
Occasional NJ visitor Apr 30, 2009
I'm recommending this hotel because of its outstanding location, and good value when compared to other overpriced NYC hotels. ... It's close to the NYC ferry, the light rail, and the #158 bus route which starts at the Port Authority terminal near Times Square and drops you off steps from the hotel. There's also a Houlihan and a food court in walking distance that are good alternatives to the hotel's overpriced Harbor Bar. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the only negatives were cleanliness and maintenance issues. When we checked in, the furniture was draped with dust, there were pet hairs all over the desk chair, and there was a problem with the air conditioning (that we learnt later was not unique to our room). The service staff were responsive and did attempt to rectify the situation, though they weren't very thorough. Overall, we were able to look past these and enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Lincoln Harbor.
