I wish that the gym was more private, as I was working out people kept poking their heads in to see what was going on. Maybe ... this should be moved to a different floor. OR you could fix the door that never quite closed. I have also seen at places a sign that could be flipped to say "IN USE" to keep gawkers/tourists out. The lounge in the lobby was fun. Sadly it was too chilly for the pool. But it looked nice from my room.

Very dirty and noisy
hollyj Oct 9, 2009
I will never stay here again! The room was dirty, the bedding old, worn and stained, the staff was rude, and the place was ... completely out of ice. There were also a couple of rooms that had marajuana smoke coming from them. NOT for families. I'm glad we didn't have my daughter with us. Location is very far from any type of convenience store (we needed cold drinks) and the neighborhood is dangerous. I am from the L.A.area, and had no idea it would be so horrible. Valet took 1/2 hour to return our car so we could drive to a store, then we had to drive a long way to get out of the shady neighborhood. Very horrible stay!! Very old and uncomfortable bed.

The lobby area was very nice but the room was not. It was very dated with water stains on the ceiling. Bathroom was very ... small and the shower didn't have hot water. The tulip resturant closed at 2pm and there are very few resturants to choose from in walking distance. We were in LA for a concert at the staples center and it's only about 2 miles away from the hotel so that was nice. After the concert we were hungry so we asked front desk if there was anything close by and open at 1am. The staff was very helpful and gave us a variety of menus from places that were opened late and who deliever to their hotel. Overall it was a nice place to sleep. No stores, shops or boutiques in walking distance but it was nice.

Eh, nothing special
JustAnotherTraveler Sep 8, 2009
Pulling into the driveway of the hotel, I was greeted by a valet. I noticed there was no option for self parking. Valet was ... $20 per day. Given that I was traveling for business and had equipment with me, I didn't want to valet my car and haul everything up with me upon checking in. The valet did not offer to help me with my bag and there was no concierge or baggage service. I had to carry 5 HEAVY bags with me with no offers of help from the hotel staff. Check in was standard, I was asked if I was parking a car, which I was, and was then told they needed my credit card to hold a $40.00 deposit for parking. The room was clean, needed to ask for more towels. Air conditioning worked ok. Ice machine was out on my floor and the vending machine was glitchy - had to travel to a floor above for ice and a floor below for sodas. The free wireless internet was poor. Upon checking out I noticed that there was a $40 charge on my room bill. When inquiring at the front desk, they advised me that it was for parking. When I mentioned that I was told it was a deposit and hold by the clerk on check-in, they said that he was mistaken with no further explanation and abruptly hung up the call. While the $100 each night for a 4 star hotel seemed like a deal at the time, I found out that you get what you pay for.

My son and I were in LA for him to take his State Board Exams for Cosmetology. Upon our arrival the parking/bellmen staff ... were not welcoming. They did not offer to help us with anything. After a long drive from San Diego and bad traffic we were not happy. There is no room service...only for breakfast. The ice machine on our floor (9th) did not work during our stay. I called the front desk and they told me to go to a different floor!!! Not the answer I was looking for. The A/C in our room was not on and the knob to turn in on did not work properly. The only person that was pleasant during our stay was the Engineering/Maintenance man that came to help with the A/C knob!!!

Great Location!!!!

My family came to visit me from Texas. We got to the hotel to discover that they charge you $20/night for valet service which ... is the only way to get parking. Despite the high price, it was very convenient and the valet were available 24/7. The hotel didn't have any rooms with double beds that were also handicap accessible. They only had handicap rooms with 1 king size bed, which was not going to work for my grandparents and handicap uncle. Other than that, we LOVED the location and view of Wilshire Blvd. There were many eating out choices and the subway is across the street! The rooms were very clean and cozy. The swimming pool area looked lovely. The elevators were amazingly fast, and the overall look of the hotel was very inviting and classy. I would definitely have my family stay there again because the location is central to many places in LA and it's close to my apartment.

Parking nightmare!!!
Santino Jun 1, 2009
Overall good experience, unfortunately, the parking situation left alot to be desired. THere was no onsite parking except for ... the valet which was $20 per car even for hotel guests. The neighborhood was kind of buisy, so obviously finding parking on the street was nearly impossible, on one occasion we had to park nearly a mile away and walk back to the hotel. We also had an extra guest (whom the hotel was aware of), and when we called the front to have a rollaway cot sent up, they informed us that they could not accomodate that request. The "gym" was also a joke (a couple treadmills and a set of handweights), and the restaurant closes early on sunday so we had to go offsite for breakfast (luckily there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance). On the plus side, the staff was very helpful, the lounge was a cool place to sit and have a drink, and the place was very clean overall.

There wasn't a Restraunt that was open after 2:00 PM! ONLY Room service which is very unpractible. Of course being here on ... Orbitz everything is paid in advance, upon check-in they request to copy your credit card, stating no charges will be made. Minutes later a 96.00 charge was made, perhaps a refund will be made? Other than this, it was ok well worth what I paid on Orbitz. + the 96.00

We didn't have any complains about the hotel, except for the street noise(Wilshire Blvd). Most likely the rooms towards the ... back are spared the street noise. Staff at front desk was very accomodating and recommended helpful information. The Metro and bus stops are located right in front and are easy to use. Seniors, please note that the bus fare is only 25 cents per trip. For us it was best to leave the car parked. Regular bus fare it $ 1.25 per trip, and they run constantly.
