Very low-end accommodations

Very low-end place. Plastic seat cushions, slimy desk. Lousy TV with few channel options. Unless you're very young or feeling ... very poor, avoid this hotel. I imagined it sort of on the level of a Holiday Inn Express, HoJo's makes a Holiday Inn Express look like high-end luxury accommodations.

The Bates Motel -creepy

Would not stay there again. The elevator looked like a freight elevator--dark and creepy. Bathroom leaked. Rooms dark. ... Tried to put on heat and it smelled like it was burning. The Bates Motel should be the name of this one. It turned us off to ever staying a a Howard Johnson Motel again.

The hotel was in a very ruff area. The rooms were well maintained but had roaches. The televisions only had a couple of ... channels and were unable to rent movies yet the hotel stated that you could rent movies. The shuttle transportation charged a fee to get to Sea World and then never returned to pick us up at night so I had to spent extra money to get home to the hotel. I would never stay at this hotel again!!!!!! [...] should not recommend this hotel!

I stayed here during the end of the month of October so it wasn't peak tourism season for the area. Mainly I stayed here to ... visit Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando. This hotel was probably around 15 minutes or less from these theme parks. This hotel conveniently offered free shuttles to and from the Walt Disney World parks at scheduled times. They also offered shuttles to and from the Universal Studios Orlando parks at a per person rate. There are also restaurants and shops within walking distance such as Wendy's, Walgreens, Golden Corral, IHOP, and Boston Lobster Feast. The room itself looked very old. It smelled like the room used to be a smoking room. The carpet was had small stains. The paint on walls seemed worn down. The table that they had was kind of broken and unbalanced. The room also had a coffeemaker, iron, ironing board, television with few cable channels, and wireless internet standard. One downside is there is no fridge so you either have to buy non-refrigerated foods or constantly get ice and store foods in an ice bucket. I can't really complain about this place because the price I paid made it well worth dealing with the hotel's shortcomings. The room was only used for sleeping and that's all it was supposed to do. I spent most of my time in the theme parks. The free shuttles to Walt Disney World helped me save on gas and parking. If traveling to Orlando again, I wouldn't mind choosing this place to stay.

If you don't want to depend on shuttles for transportation to Walt Disney World, you can also try to find parking at Downtown Disney or Disney's Boardwalk for free and use any of Disney's bus stops at the nearby resorts for transportation to the parks. The Disney Boardwalk also has walkways to Disney Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Its location is awesome. Very close to all disney and universal parks. There are lots of ... dining options close by, and the environment of the hotel is quiet and peaceful. Had problem with the wi-fi which is not available in all rooms, but throughout it was a Good stay at a great price.

The worst ever!

Usually I do not take the time to write a review, but I don't want anyone to make the same mistake we did. My husband and I ... travel to a lot of karate tournaments around the United States and that is why we were in Florida. We are not usually in our hotel very much and so we thought we would be able to hack it out if we did not like the hotel. Our room was located close to the pool and was equipped with two double beds. The room smelled horrible as we entered and we had to immediately go buy some candles to make it tolerable. The room was dirty and that was just the beginning. As soon as we went to sleep, the crickets began to chirp. This was not just one cricket, but a whole in stereo sound of crickets. They were inside the refrigerator and inside our box springs to our bed. We finally located one that was approximately two inches in length, but the others were too hard to find. By night three, we finally figured out that if you sleep with the television on, they will stop making sound for a little while. We found someone's dirty socks behind the refrigerator and stains on the blankets. Let me just say that my husband and I are not really that fussy about our room, as long as it is clean and we can get some rest, but this place goes down as the worst ever. The location seems to be a bit seedy as well with multiple signs in the parking lot from the Sheriff's Department telling you not to open your hotel room door and not leave anything in your car. I really do not recommend this hotel unless you don't mind having a miserable night sleep. Don't do it.

Plenty of places within short walking distance/short drive with a variety of cuisenes available from buffet to top notch restaurants/entertainment. Of course there are several motels nearby with the same offerings and I'm sure better amenities. The Roadway Inn next door is owned by the same people so stay away from that one also.
