It was a quick check in and the accommodations were fine. Finding a motel these days with a frig, hair dryer, and coffee pot ... is a bit of a challege.....not to mention the bonus of the continental breakfast. The room was clean as were all the Travel Lodge facilities. I would definitely stay there again.

Great price, good value.
Dan the Man Jun 2, 2009
I stayed two nights and both were very restful. They have very recently added some really sweet, large HDTVs which is pretty ... cool. Also, the AC has been redone and works great (though it's a little loud with the fan on all night so set it to auto). Only qualm was that the tub faucet prong that you lift to turn on the shower was messed up. You had to hold the faucet in place so it wouldn't come off and pull very very very hard to get it to lift.

Beds were fair, continental b/f was adequate, but the worst was as I understand a motorcycle rally in town and abot 20 bikers ... were allowed to drive their hogs into the front door areas. There were (3) THREE within 20 feet of our door. Thet started them up and moved around, they came and went until about 11 PM. We attempted to sleep starting at 8 and had to wait until about 11. I had talked to the Mgr. on duty, but the $$$ talked more than to seniors comfort.

Showing Wear & Tear
James Dec 28, 2008
This is an older motel that has been cleaned up, but is showing considerable wear & tear. The carpet in our room was stained ... and dingy looking - we chose to wear our slippers at all times. Window dressing could use some decent sheers. The lamp bulbs were CFLs which added to the dingy appearance of the room (poor lighting). The bath faucet in our room was in poor condition and we were unable to get hot water for a bath or shower - about luke warm was the best we could manage. The sink faucet was okay and we were able to get hot water, so it wasn't due to the water heater. The breakfast food I wouldn't feed to the homeless - the only fruit was green bananas, the pastries were like sugared sawdust - really cut-rate fare. You know it is bad when the best items were raisin bran and frosted flakes cereal with milk. All in all, I didn't feel we got a fair value for what we paid.

Good value decent hotel
David Nov 19, 2008
I have stayed here twice and have been very happy each time. The rooms are comfortable clean and they include free internet, ... coffee makers in the room, and etc. For the price they are hard to beat. The staff is very friendly. My only complaint, albeit minor, is that the lighting is too excessive. I felt I was being interrogated by the C.I.A.! They replaced all the standard bulbs with 100 watt equivalent mini florescent bulbs in order to conserve and save, which is great BUT? the effect is overwhelming. I removed all but one bulb in the overhead chandelier then replaced them when I left. It was OK then. Other than this minor issue I highly recommend them.

My family and I arrived somewhat late in the evening. The stay was pleasant except for the fact that when people walked by ... you could here them as if they were in your room. I'd recommend a first floor room. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable as was the property. Plus, the staff was nice.

I have visited many tourist attractions and have used travelodge more than twice; its a good motel and with breakfast ... included. This particular travelodge at Santa Maria is situated near shopping areas. The room was clean, although there is still some smell probably from the carpet. Overall our stay was good!

Under construction 10 years too late
Tara Jun 16, 2008
The Santa Maria Travelodge is under construction, and looks like it may actually achieve building code minimum requirements ... someday, but too late for our stay. The tub faucet ended about 2 inches away from the wall with a 3 inch diameter gap around the hole in the wall where the pipe enters. I could actually see people in the pool below while I stood in the tub. There were literal holes in the drywall, and the bathroom sink was about 18 inches from wall to wall without enough room to stand in front of it and shave in the mirror. The hot and cold water inputs are reversed. We were in a family suite which had two rooms with a shared bath. One room had an airconditioner, the other room had a heater. The ceiling fan was broken and stuck on high. To turn on the light, the fan must be on. There is no way to be comfortable in both rooms at the same time. The first floor was under construction, and the rooms there actually look like they belong in a Travelodge. The only positive I can express was the free breakfast... my kids loved the homemade waffels. Stay at your own risk!

We were down there for the west coast customs show, which sucked. The ciy needs to do more for the show, i.e. cruises at ... night. The town other than the hotels weren't really involved. The room it itself was good. Best travelodge I've ever stayed at. The shower was the only negative. Water pressure wasn't that good, but other than that everything was good.

Elizabeth Oct 1, 2007
This Travelodge is in a good downtown location. Only a few minutes to the beach or the Wine Country. There is not a ... restaurant at the hotel but plenty within walking distance. The recent remodel turned the hotel from one that I hadn't much noticed to a hotel I will recommend to friends. My only concern was some of the staff. These particular staff were often disinterested in providing help. I had difficulty understanding the young woman who answered the phone when I called for directions. She grew impatient with me, was rather rude, and I found what I needed on my own.

The staff at the reception counter was friendly and helpful whereas the hotel manager was not. She was not pleasent nor ... helpful to me. When I asked her if this facility have no air condition and can I used my frequent flyier miles, her answer was no and continue chatting on her cell phone with her friend. She forget that she is working in the hospitality industries where service comes first.

This hotel was simple and we got a good rate fo what we had. The room was clean which is very important. The cont. breakfast ... was pretty sad. We ended up having to go get something decent to eat. There were some less than desirable tenants living in what looked like mini apts next to our room.
