BedBugs
Eric Nov 22, 2009
We woke up in the middle of the night covered in bed bugs. The mattress and boxspring were full of bed bugs and they were ... crawling out of my wife's hair. The hotel changed our room but were not otherwise helpful or apologetic. After complaining about the hostile response of the rooms manager, the executive general manager of the hotel said it was not their fault because the bugs are brought into the hotel by the guests and in particular by Asian guests who he said are not very clean. Avoid this hotel!

The chunk missing from the "marble" above the door and the marks on the Manager's Office door should be a hint that ... maintenance is no longer a high priority, nor is room cleanliness - I spoke to a number of other guests and none was entirely happy. One who initially said she happy with the place then said "All I had to do was ask after I'd got to the room and they came and cleaned it for me"!! Another was in a room without a toilet roll holder. When I complained abouut the noise from the bar upstairs pounding through my room they offered me a room without a bed! "It's got a rollout" she said. In the first floor bar/restuarant, the fries that came with my $12 steak sandwich (to accompany my $10 bottle of Corona!) were the frozen variety and had obviously been reheated. Add in the $10 a day resort fee ("What do I get for that?" says I, "Access to the beach" says she, "But it's a public beach, with free public access all along it") and the fact that it's almost impossible to get any further from South Beach and still be on the beach and this place is far from a bargain. While it was obviously once a reasonably classy place it's one to be chosen now only as a last Resort

Ups and some downs
Mike Nov 15, 2009
Hotel is nice but would be perfect if it was closer to the downtown miami beach area. Cab rides got expensive although I ... found a convenient bus route. The hotel next door was being re-done so there was constant construction noise as well as daily fire alarm testing. A concierge was very unfriendly. Fees really add up. Beach fees ($10/day), late check out fees ($85), and internet fees if you wish to connect($10/day). Pool was great! Perfect size and more than enough seating as well as a great music performer. Easy access to the beach. Very close to the boardwalk which goes along the beach for miles! It also has one of the best hotel fitness centers Ive ever had. Full weight room and cardio room! Room was very clean. The doors were heavy and therefor were loud when opened and closed. Delishious morning buffet! Great hotel restaurant but pricy... Not too far from airport.

beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting
Kris Sep 30, 2009
The hotel was built in the 60's and is gorgeous! The floors alone are amazing. The room was large and comfortable. It was a ... couple miles from South Beach, just a short drive but you wouldn't want to walk it. The pool area and beach were beautiful. The staff was helpful and friendly. Even with the tough economy, the hotel was more than I expected for the price. Oh, FYI - it was $25/day to valet park in their secure parking area.

We had an amazing dinner in the beautiful hotel restaurant! (dinner and dessert for 2 was $74) The breakfast buffet downstairs was also excellent, about $20/person.

A nice Relaxing place
The Frugle couple Aug 23, 2009
This resort is a nice hotel in a very relaxed location, yet it is only 2 miles from all the action. If you are looking for a ... hotel that has it poppin everynight this is not the place for you. It is laid back and everything including the pool and restaurants close by 11 pm. The rooms are decent size and very clean. The bed is comfortable but there are hardly any good tv channels that are free. Deliveries have to be picked up outside no matter what time it is. The hotel does not allow outside vendors in the hotel. The valet parking is $25/day and I was not charged a resort fee like orbitz said I would be which was nice. I left my cell phone on our chack out day and the housekeeping lady found it right away and ran it downstairs to me, showing they have honest workers. There is not a safe in the room but they are available in the lobby however it was easier to leave it in the room hidden because security is tight to get into your safe and you have to wait in line if applicable

I would definatly recomend taking your own alcohol, or ask the prices of drinks before you order. We went to a restaurant in south beach on ocean drive and found out when we got the bill that a margarita is 32 dollars a piece. Buffets are probably your best bet. Fuegovivo a brazillian steak house is worth the money and is only 16 a person if you go during the week between 12 and 4. THe best food by far a must

i booked this room thru orbitz and i asked the operator for a two double beds jr suite, when we got to the hotel they had no ... two double beds jr. suites rooms avalable so we settled with one with a king size bed until the next day when a two double bed was going to be available, the next day we got our new two double beds room.the minute i went into the room the smell of urine was unbearable the room was very nice but the smell was terrible, we called front desk and told them about the situation they told me they were going to send somebody to check the problem but nobody came then i got angry and called back and was transfered to maintenance dept,i talked to somebody there then they sent somebody with a spray bottle and spraied all over, the smell went away for a few minutes then came back i had to go to walgreens to buy an ordor spray to spray the room because we did not have any other choices. they had offered to move us to another room but with a king size bed wich was what we had in the first place.so even thoug i liked this hotel this experience was very unpleasant and bad.

If you plan to take a car to southbeach, look for the city parking garages. There are several in southbeach (close to shopping and eating) and they cost far less than the various valet and/or private lots.
