A property with real character. There is golf putting green on hotel grounds as well as a swimming pool and new spa pool. Extensive gardens surround the property. A brand new on site gym and spa pool has opened at the hotel. Nearby there is a 9 hole golf course in Hagley Park. Tennis courts are also close by. Bikes available for hire. Probably the best value hotel in Christchurch. SE0808 Low rise Chateau style. Lots of character. Delightful central gardens and pool area. Located on five acres of land, opposite Hagley park and the Botanic gardens. There is a 15 minute walk through the park and beside the Avon river to get to the city centre. The hotel has a complimentary shuttle to the airport, station or city centre between 08:00-19:30 during the week and 10:00-19:00 weekends.

The Garden Court Brasserie is a bright sun room which opens on to the rose gardens offering al fresco dining at its best. This Brasserie is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Den is an English style pub perfect for that pre-dinner drink or just for relaxing and unwinding.

Pretty setting but not central

The hotel was very nice with gardens and ponds, however it was a long walk to any restraunts other than the one on site. ... Additionally, the room smelled of smoke. Overall still a very nice place to stay but not my top choice.

Beautiful, Comfortable and Convient

Approaching The Chateau on the Park was a pleasure to the eyes. Checking in was quick, convient, and friendly. They were ... on-top of our lost luggage situation, immediately. They were more then professional, friendly and helpful. Our room was attractive, up-to-date and at all times clean. Lovely gardens both in the interior and exterior of the hotel were tended to at a constant pace with loving care. Each room has a frig (mini-bar) and coffee/tea set up. Heated pool is outside. The rooms open onto a patio in the garden. Good photo ops. at every turn, in the path. The restaurant was exceptional and not overly priced, with swift and very pleasant staff. Breakfast buffet! Computers were easily available in an alcove in the lobby. A lovely walk through Hagley Park to the city was just a few steps from the hotel's entrance. All our needs were met with professional and warm friendliness. This in my opinion is a dream hotel. I would always return to this hotel in visits to Christchurch, NZ.

Hagley Park just outside Chateau, is actually 640 acres. It has a botanical garden, one of the top ten in the WORLD. Streams, bridges, fish, ducks abound in the park. A gazebo restaurant,is in the park. There is a gondola ride, where you can see a vast valley of beauty, including Christchurch itself. There is a shop at the top & a restaurant

Pretty setting but not central
