weekend in Gatlinburg at Park Vista Hote
[*] Nov 3, 2009
I arrived late Thursday pm (around midnight). There was one friendly front desk person but she was busy with the phone. ... Another, unfriendly person helped us check in. We were put in a room on the first floor overlooking the roof of the swimming pool. This was not acceptable given that we stayed at Park vista for the views. We did ask and then were given a room on the 4th floor and had a better view.

They leave you alone. We don't want the maids in our room every day. The staff is laid back. [...] buffets are fabulous. ... We like the pool and the fitness center and the small birds in the glass cage. Though we didn't bring a pet this year, we like it that they are accepted.

Mountain view escape
Boss/Mom Oct 14, 2009
I love the views at the hotel. Rooms need to have a frige and microwave. Rooms need to be updated and so do the beds. They ... have not up graded any of the rooms it seems in years, the best thing they have going is location a room with a view. If I had to stay on the city side I would not stay at this hotel. They had a problem with the water, while taking a shower it would be hot burning you and then cold as ice. They said they fixed it but when I left it was still not working. I will state the only reason I stayed was the views of the mountains. If I could find another hotel with views I would never go back.

Ahhh relaxation
Jeremey Sep 30, 2009
Young couple who just wanted to get away and have a night without jobs/school. Perfect hotel for that; very relaxing all ... around, it was an off-time, so there weren't many people anywhere in the hotel, so we felt alone and liked that. Awesome pool and jacuzzi (not too hot, not too cool). We were irked that you had to pay for wifi ($10/24hrs), and if you don't have a credit card they charge a $50 "deposit" or something like that for a debit card...c'mon, Park Vista, get with the program! Also annoyed slightly that there is no continental breakfast, but we understand that this is a more upscale hotel and thats ok, good pancake house right down the road from PV. Good bar also! We can both recommend the Long Island Iced Tea & Jolly Rancher! We'll stay again. Thanks PV!

Monte & Debbie Sep 14, 2009
Great views, well worth the "bad" experiences. Nothing real bad just minor inconviences, like no breakfast included, noisy ... A/C, Not being able to get to the fitness center easily and it not opening until 6:00 AM. We want to start our day early so that means I want to work out early, I ended up walking and jogging the parking lot, not what I was looking forward to.

Great Stay
Christina J Aug 19, 2009
My husband and I came to the Park Vista for our 5th anniversary. The hotel is beautiful and you can tell that it has been ... updated recently. The rooms were clean and spacious and the lobby was incredibly impressive. The bathroom in our room was tiny, but very clean and sufficient. As other people have mentioned there was a weird issue with the temperature of the water going from hot to cold randomly. The only truly negative thing I have to say about our stay was the room we were in had a great view until you walked closer to the balcony. we were directly over the indoor pool and the roof was not the view we expected.

Beautiful Sunrises!
time traveler Aug 10, 2009
My only real complaint was the fact that every time I have arrived to check-in after midnight, there seems to be a problem ... that they have released my room and I have to go through the same **** and the possibility of having to find another hotel. The drive up to the hotel is steep, but the views and the morning sunrises make the climb worth it.

Get a good parking place at the hotel and pay the .50 per trip to ride the trolley to town. Trolley goes all through the city and even into Pigeon Forge.
--Nikonnos, Alabama Jul 5, 2009
The most helpful thing was the trolley that comes right to the hotel and runs till midnight. The parking in town is hairy, so to save money on parking and a huge headache of fighting traffic, we rode the trolley for .50 cents.
--HappyTina, Cincinnati, Ohio Jun 22, 2009
No Way Jose's was a very good mexican cantina which can be accessed via the trolley. It's next to the aquarium. We found an inexpensive, quick breakfast at a deli located near the Great Smokey Mtn. Park entrance (across the street from the Shell station--same side).
