Bad beds but good views
Photographer On The Run Dec 18, 2009
My family went to Park Vista Hotel this year (2009) because in 2004 I went there for a business trip and fell in love with ... the Christmas decor', and wanted to share it with my husband and daughter the next time we where that way. When we arrived I was disapointed to see all they had up was a few lights and a tree. This was a major let down to me and my family. The views from our room was amazing, so I didnt mind being on the ninth floor. I did mind that the beds where worn out and when you lay on them you would roll to the middle, I would suggest the hotel replacing the beds. Also I didnt like not having a mini fridge in my room. Another thing that caught my eye is that it seem that repairs have been made but wasnt covered up that well. The Breakfast Buffet (that you have to pay for) was great! There is a cook there to making you eggs, omlets, and pancakes fresh, plus all the other good food in the warmers! The woman working there that day was so sweet and great with my daughter and it made it even more enjoyable to eat there.

1 of the best older hotels in Gatlinburg

This was our first time at Park Vista. We visit the area probably 3-4 times a year. I remember this hotel when I was a ... child (23 years ago) I think it was built in 1969. Although it is old, it has been kept up pretty well. The lobby/atrium was cool with the elevator that you can see out to the 15th floor. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We asked for a crib for our baby and they brought it up immedialty. The breakfast buffet was well worth the price. The pool was nice and deep (11ft) heated too. There are two pools one is only 5 ft deep at it's deepest point. We would definatly stay here again.

If you are going to Dollywood and you don't have a gold pass you can go to Patriot Park and catch the trolly. It will take you right to the front of Dollywood and for only .25 per person maybe .50 You ride it back just the same. It saves you time and money. I think the trollies run every 15-20 min.

weekend in Gatlinburg at Park Vista Hote
[*] Nov 3, 2009
I arrived late Thursday pm (around midnight). There was one friendly front desk person but she was busy with the phone. ... Another, unfriendly person helped us check in. We were put in a room on the first floor overlooking the roof of the swimming pool. This was not acceptable given that we stayed at Park vista for the views. We did ask and then were given a room on the 4th floor and had a better view.

Mountain view escape
Boss/Mom Oct 14, 2009
I love the views at the hotel. Rooms need to have a frige and microwave. Rooms need to be updated and so do the beds. They ... have not up graded any of the rooms it seems in years, the best thing they have going is location a room with a view. If I had to stay on the city side I would not stay at this hotel. They had a problem with the water, while taking a shower it would be hot burning you and then cold as ice. They said they fixed it but when I left it was still not working. I will state the only reason I stayed was the views of the mountains. If I could find another hotel with views I would never go back.

Ahhh relaxation
Jeremey Sep 30, 2009
Young couple who just wanted to get away and have a night without jobs/school. Perfect hotel for that; very relaxing all ... around, it was an off-time, so there weren't many people anywhere in the hotel, so we felt alone and liked that. Awesome pool and jacuzzi (not too hot, not too cool). We were irked that you had to pay for wifi ($10/24hrs), and if you don't have a credit card they charge a $50 "deposit" or something like that for a debit card...c'mon, Park Vista, get with the program! Also annoyed slightly that there is no continental breakfast, but we understand that this is a more upscale hotel and thats ok, good pancake house right down the road from PV. Good bar also! We can both recommend the Long Island Iced Tea & Jolly Rancher! We'll stay again. Thanks PV!
