Nice , new updated rooms, nice view from hotel room, parking is extra and the parking lot is a mile away from the hotel, ... valet is available at $ 22 per day. Place is just too big and it takes forever to get from A to B. This place is big, and that is it. In the time we spend there they never could get enough diver together to go out on a dive trip, very poor. If you are planning on diving, look for another resort.

A true paradise
Val Oct 27, 2009
The hotel is defintely a paradise. The location is breathtaking and the views look like a painted mural. The only problem is ... that we went during october which is very quiet and peaceful and a great time to go, but the hotel resteraunts do not stay open to late due to the lack of guests and i felt the food that was served had been frozen for a while. I am sure if we went during the tourist seasons of summer or holidays it will not be an issue. The only other negative is how expensive everything was. A medium bottle of water is 9 dollars in the gift shop. The hotel sucks the cash out from your wallet and is able too due to the surroundings of fajardo. There is nothing outside the hotel and it is unsafe after a certain time and it is a pity that they take advantage of that. The hotel is gorgeous, the views are spectacular and the island of palomino is an oasis in the middle of the sea. The sand is white and no one bothers you at all. I reccommend a stay at the conquistador but plan to spend money on food and incidentals.

Over priced blan food along with mean mugging staff members. Out of the whole staff including the shops in the hotel there ... were two friendly employees out of the whole hotel. Not worth the price paid. If your thinking about staying at the hotel, stay somewhere else. The Passion Fruit would be better as far as getting service and the lady that runs it is uber nice. It's a little hotel but it comes with big service!! Don't over pay for a place if your going to be out a lot. If not that hotel then go to Vegas

The resort was breathtaking as far as the views and mountainous location. After waiting 1.5 hours to check in we made it to ... our room overlooking the ocean. Wow! Beautiful View.Resort offer many recreational things to do for of course a dollar amount. The prices were high.We went Kayaking twice & horseback riding. The resort is child friendly.Coqui water park inside hotel for adults and kids. Nice family atmosphere. If you go during summer be ready for the loud running kids in the main pool. But you can eat&drink poolside without leaving the water. Nice! Very clean.

The prices were high.We went Kayaking in the only bio luminous lagoon in the world at night. The hotel charges 90.00 p/p when locals there charge 45.00p/p. Horseback riding on the palomino island mountains were not what I expected.Resort charge $95 p/p for 45 mins. Thought since we were more experienced riders that we could spread out some, but we were not allowed to move out of the line they put you in. So if you're stuck behind a child or a very slow horse it's boring. No TROTTING! Cash does saves you lots of money when paying for events.Locals don't report that so you get better discounts!Everything is expensive!Either bring lots of Cash or credit card with high limit. Money Talks! Overall RELAXING

Gorgeous views from this aging, slow-paced resort. Expect waits, lines and some inconveniences, such as having to travel by ... funicular to reach the middle and lower parts of the resort (there are NO stairs!). No beach, but a lovely island is a boat ride away (allow several hours--its slow--like everything here). Resort is an hour drive from the airport.

Vacation1 May 27, 2009
I definately would not return to this hotel. The facilities themselves were very picturesque and the view from the side of ... the mountain overlooking the ocean is lovely; however, the food is disgusting for the price and they did not have any authentic food from the region. We did not have one good meal at this resort and we went to every restaurant they had. Also, there is a 25.00 per day resort fee that they charge to your room. Another thing that I didnt realize is how many children would be at this resort, my husband and I thought it would be more of an adult trip but there were children everywhere. The beach and Island area was nice. The resort is about an hour from Old San Juan and we took a taxi there one day and that made the trip! Next time I visit Puerto Rico I would stay in the Condado beach area, which is closer to many activities.

the trip from the main road to the hotel is a little spooky not to be traveled at night, the setting by the sea at the upper ... level of the hotel is relaxing and breath taking, the staff is helpful but in general you get transfered to a second or third person before your question is answered, the internet connection was not functional in the room but did work in the lobby as a business man checking messages is important, i tried printing my boarding passes but th eservice didn't work, the casino is diminutive compared to those in san juan or las vegas and many of the slots were turned off ie were not working, the shops are a life saver, very nice well stocked, the palomino island is awesome , the many bar staff are friendly , the food is good , the self parking is ridiculous far away and uphill the valet works like a charm, this is a romantic not to sophisticated cool great place for a couple or a large group of friends, if you are a photograper this is a paradise, i would definitely go back and frequently......cheers

I will never stay at El Conquistador
Unhappy Guest May 4, 2009
I will never stay at the El Conquistador Resort again. Throughout my stay most of the hotel staff was unhelpful and at times ... unpleasant. To make matters worse, our room was unclean with rust stains in the bathroom, dirty toilet, stained rug, stained sheets, dirty vents, broken tiles on the veranda and the list goes on. In addition, several things at the hotel where out of service which made it hard to get around at times. I would have checked out early, but I was attending a Wedding at the hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Nice stay, wouldn't go back"
Vacationer Apr 23, 2009
Hotel was nice and areas are clean. Staff members are very friendly and quick to help you. My wife did not like having to ... take a boat out to the beach. Also the water has a lot of coral that washes up and makes wading difficult. The wate is too shallow to swim in, you could probably walk out about a 1/2 mile. The restaurants are expensive for what you are buying, and if you rent a car they charge yo a daily parking fee. Nice for a brief get away.

Audrey Sep 17, 2008
No one mentioned that the hotel would be empty. I mean, maybe 100 people, in a place that held probably 2-3,000. We were so ... lonely. We are social people. We would sit in a restaurant ALONE. Oh, they forgot to mention parking prices. More than the rental of the car. The place was gorgeous. Private beach that you took a boat out to (all six of us). You get the drift.
Traveler type: Couples
Nearby dining, there is very little that you would want. Long walk to town (but you wouldn't want to go there. Nothing is nearby but a junky little town. Kind of like Tijuana if you have been there. Several stores in hotel are overpriced and like Mexico. Stores are closed except McDonalds, Church's Chicken, Walgreen's and Walmart.

Great Honeymoon Spot
Dawnmarie Sep 7, 2008
The hotel was in a beautiful location. It was secluded on the mountain top with a beautiful view of the resort and the ... private island. Everyone was very helpful and accomodating. The only drawback was that one of the pools with the swim up bar was being repaired at the time. The private island definitely made up for it. It was breathtaking. It is a little costly. It was perfect for our honeymoon. There is not much nearby, as you are 45 minutes from San Juan so everything pretty much is done at the resort.
