The Hotel staff was friendly and courteous. Room very clean. I had to go off the property to get coffee. Should have coffee ... in the lobby. Wifi connection $11.99 a day when many places are free. $20 a day resort fee and $15 a day parking. Steep for what you get. No vending machines on premise. Add on gratuity on drinks and food. First off, great location! Short walking distance to the main strip on Duval and right on the beach. The tiny beach at ... Reach is cute, but a short walk down the way to the Casa Marina or Higgs beach is worth the trip. Watching the sunrise and sunset from the piers at Casa Marina made the trip. The Reach seems a luxury, but our room was small and had a few problems. First off, we noticed a huge stain on the lampshade and sand (from the beach) in the carpet. Ok, minor things, but the bathroom was so small that you had to straddle the toilet to get the door open enough to get out. Stand in shower, no bath, again, you had to straddle the toilet to close the door to step into the shower since the open door prevents entrance to the shower. I've stayed at Holiday Inn's that had nicer rooms. Big tip here... When you pay the room rate it doesn't include the "Resort Fee." They'll charge you $20 incl. tax per day and it will show up on your credit card when you check out. Thought I paid that up front and then - surprise! Don't bother with the Strip House restaurant. All the naked girlie pics on the walls didn't make up for the prices they charge and included 18% gratuity on all checks regardless of party size. If you want a nice Breakfast Buffet, walk to the Casa Marina between 7 and 11. It's $20 per head, but worth it. Also, take the Old Town Trolley tour bus one day. It's like $50, but you can jump on and off all day long along the route and the drivers tell some history about Key West. Don't leave without trying the Key Lime Pie!

Longtime Key Wester Dec 28, 2009
The hotel staff were very hospitable - and the hotel layout was well thought out. As it is at the "less commercialised" end ... of Key West, there wasn't the noise/hassle/crowds on the street or around the building. I have previously stayed in this area, and recommend it to couples who prefer a more adult experience and who are prepared to walk and enjoy the area.

Nothing to do there. Stayed in because of storms and cold. Needs: Indoor pool. More pool tables. Table tennis. Tennis court. ... Family casual restaurant with MUCH better prices and ambiance. You don't take children into restaurant with nude pictures of women. Three nights out of 6, inibriated people stayed next to us and noisy security came and escorted them out. Inconsiderate guests with liquor.....lots of noise and arguments by guests. Truly interrupted any sleep and enjoyable rest/quiet. Maid NEVER vacumned the room nor scrubbed the floors or bath areas in 6 days.

The Waldorf Reach Dirty Mess
The truth Dec 25, 2009
The hotel was average from the outside. My first impression was this is at best a 2 star hotel. Door men yelling across the ... lobby throwing keys across the lobby to manager. Desk timid uncertain although friendly. Lobby floor dirty hair balls blowing around. Christmas tree electrical cord tape was pulling away from floor. The tape looked like it was reused from last year. The complimentary punch stayed out too long and looked forgotten about. Lobby bathroom doors dirty and sticky to the touch. Elevator walls dirty unpolished rug worn wood trim peeling away.Room floors dirty.Same blond hair on tiles through out our stay. The floors were never washed or vacuumed. Table in room had a sticky spill on it it was never washed the spill stayed through out our stay. Rug was worn bathroom fixtures dusty. Inconsistent service. first night beds weren't turned down.2nd night beds turned down one chocolate on one side two on the other, third night beds turned down no chocolate. when we left our room I put the still warped news paper by inside entryway it was gone when we came back.Out side jet skis were being filled with gas on a super small beach. The beach smelled toxic. Jet ski employees were racing the jet skis in the small swimming area. The jet ski service should be maintained on the other side of the pier house. There were at least six young men working the beach area yet the beach was strewn with empty bottles and long forgotten towels. It was a sloppy mess. It had no upscale feeling at all. I was going to take the manager around to show him what a mess the place was. I didn't because he was engaged in key toss with the doorman. I could see yeah he might be nice but he just doesn't get it. I am planning on telling AAA to rethink the star rating. The place is not up to snuff.

The Reach Resort-Waldorf Astoria Collection was just above an average stay, friendly staff and hotel set-up were ok. The ... location and beach were one of the best on the island. Although we slept at The Reach, we spent most of our time at The Reach's sister hotel, the Casa Marina Resort and Beach Club, which offered many of The Reach's top services to include massage's and Starbuck's coffee. You too will find yourself migrating to this location if your smart. The service, hotel set-up and staff are a class act at the Casa Marina. Save money and stay at The Reach, but lounge at the Casa Marina!

Our Honeymoon in Key West
50 something newlyweds Oct 20, 2009
Overall we had a great stay here. The room was nice, spacious, and very clean. The pool was a little on the small side but ... very clean, a nice temperature, and open 24 hours a day (we went skinny dipping one early morning after Duval St. fun). The beach was nice on land, in the water it was more rocky than sandy so bare foot wading was not a real option but I think most of Key West's beaches are that way. It was about a $10 taxi ride including tip to the Duval Strip party bars. There was scooter and bike rentals about a block from the hotel. Most of the time it was a quiet room there were a couple times the people in the room above woke us up from banging around stuff and moving chairs across the floor. Room Service was good except for food, that was extremely slow and very expensive. A couple hamburgers and cokes and a piece of chocolate cake (the cake was really good) was $80.00 Drinks at the bar were expensive too. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful. I would recommend the hotel but eat and drink somewhere else.

We picked he Reach because of the private beach, which was great. The hotel staff was very friendly and they will set up ... beach chairs with an umbrella for you. Our stay would have been excellent, if the hotel had not locked us out of our room the second day because the staff made an error when we checked it. Only a slight inconvenience, but the rest of the stay was great. On our next trip to the island we will probably stay in old town closer to Mallory Square.

The Reach Resort is near the southern most point, thus it is on the opposite side of the island as most of the restaurants and shopping. It's about a mile walk to the large shopping and restaurant area of Duval st.

We found the last night the local attractions and food to be what we were looking for while we were on our trip. THe Duvall night life was not the experience for this trip that we wanted. Since we spent most of our time on Duval, I would stay at the opposite end of the island next time. It was a good mile to any of the bars, and 2 miles to the nightlife area and shopping.
