Best Hotel in Key West
KShea Jan 24, 2010
I have gone to Key West about a hundred times and stayed everywhere from B&B to Duval Street central and this place is the ... best! It is close to so many great things, without the drunks/homeless at your doorstep in the morning. This is great for families, and they have many amenities! It is so awesome that we got married there in 2007!

This is one of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at! total luxury, but decorated in a quiet way--tasteful, nothing gaudy. ... The grounds--pools, gardens, beach--were superb. The breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant was splendid; dinner was good enough, but then again, you'll probably want to dine out since the hotel is in walking distance to Duval (and most points of interest). The service staff were were accommodating to all of our requests and especially pleasant: we were there the day of the Haitian earthquake and much of the maintenance and cleaning staff were Haitian. My heart went out to these good people who, after only 4 days, felt like good friends.

Our flight was reserved on a Delta large aircraft, although other flights are on the smaller regional aircraft. Due to high winds, our flight was canceled: evidently the Key West air field is too small for large aircraft under certain weather conditions. It may appear to be counter-intuitive, but get yourself on a small plane for the leg of the journey into Key West and you'll be in less danger of having your trip postponed.

Warm Weather Seeker Jan 19, 2010
Great place to stay, but unfortunately the record cold temperatures put somewhat of a damper on the trip. Save some money if ... you have a car and park it on the street....$15 per night otherwise. Our room was near a maid service area and was quite noisy. We asked to be move and were with no hassle. A shower curtain was missing, but upon calling it was delivered within 10 minutes. Great staff and great outdoor restaurant. One of the best places to stay in Key West.

The hotel staff was extremely nice. The reservation staff leaves a little to be desired. They were a bit condescending when ... I called to check on the internet service. I think they hotel should have amenities, such as a shower and bathroom for those who must check out but are traveling late in the day.

Overall I was very pleased. The beach was beautiful, the pool was great, and the food was very good. To be very nit-picky, ... the room wasn't 100% cleaned while we were there (spots remainded on the mirror). Also there was some water spots on the glass shower door when we checked in. However, overall the room was exceptional and I would never complain about such small details. We had a private balcony which was very nice for watching the sunset. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful Overall I was very, very pleased and would return!

I am a single 35 yr old professional who rarely travels. I went to this resort with my girlfriend. I have to say that the ... outside (grounds) of the hotel were very nice and clean. The inside was average and beds were uncomfortable. Customer service wasn't too great. For example, I purchased a $10 pina colada in a 8 oz cup and my girlfriend accidently spilled it immediately. They would not give us a "sympathy" free refill. I didn't know the resort was that hard-up over a $10 drink. Secondly, this place has ANTS everywhere inside. They even had us change rooms and they still were there but not as much as the first room. They explained that every hotel here has that problem. Really? This place couldn't be further from Duval St. and Mallory Square too. Metered parking, expensive parking lots, or cabs are the only way to get there unless you want to huff it 3 miles. This place was very average and I wouldn't stay here again.

Restaraunts are a dime a dozen but they were all spectacular. Duval St. mirrors Bourbon St. in New Orleans with the nightlife. You will never find a better place to watch the sunset than Mallory Square.

IT WAS IN THE BEST LOCATION POSSIBLE FOR US, EASY ACCESS TO DUVAL STREET FOR DINNER,NIGHT LIFE AND ALL ATTRACTIONS WERE WITHIN MINUTES.OUR ROOM WAS VERY NICE, SPECTACULAR VIEW OF THE 2 POOLS AND AN OCEAN VIEW ALSO. I WOULDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING. THE STAFF THERE ARE WONDERFUL AND VERY ATTENTIVE.WE WERE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH OUR ACCOMMODATIONS!

Hornedfrog1982 Oct 8, 2009
Hotel is beautiful and restful. The staff tries to act like they cared and you were staying in a first class hotel but the ... actual service was no better then the Holiday Inn or Best Western. The good news is the Hotel is wonderful, the beach is great, and you are in Key West so no worries. Just do not expect the service to be at 5 star hotel level. It is at 2 star level at best.

Salute restuarant was right around the corner from the hotel & overlooks the beach as well. There is an indoor area as well as an outdoor covered patio. The food was very good & probably the cheapest of the places we ate in key west (although I still wouldn't say this place is cheap, food in key west is just expensive so its all relative). My husband and I started with a caprese salad which was tasty & fresh. We both got our own sandwiches, each delicious and good portion sizes. It came with a side of orzo salad which was light and refreshing. We finished off the meal with a slice of key lime pie. The total was around $35. The service was excellent and our food came in a reasonable amount of time. We also liked the fact that this restaurant uses real glasses instead of the plastic cups used by every other restaurant we went to in key west.
--smiles621, San Francisco Jul 7, 2009
Key West is an expensive island! So watch where you choose to spend your money on food. There are some fantastic places. They will cost more than you might usually spend, but these places are worth the expense (unlike many others, which are just expensive for nothing). Blue Heaven (Bahama Village), Santiago's Bodega (Bahama Village), European Garden Cafe (Duval Street), Sloppy Joe's (CRAZY, but fun bar on Duval Street), Angelina's Pizza (Duval Street), 915 (off Duval), Conch Republic Seafood Company (Green & Elizabeth Streets) are just a few of the tasty/worth your money eateries. For other suggestions, ask at your hotel. Just watch that they aren't "hustling" for their friends at other businesses. Also, watch for other locals "hustling" for their friends at other businesses. We ran into that situation a couple of times and had some pretty blah & expensive food.
--Philly Lady, Los Angeles, CA Jul 6, 2009
very nice to go out and eat lots of good food. as to be expected on a resort the food is way over priced and it was ok with a limited selection. so after venturing out we found a place everyone recommended called el mason de pepe's. since they are 90 miles from cuba there is a very large cuban influence down there and they have the best churassco you can imagine with a very quaint band who plays nightly and we ate and danced the night away showing off some of our freshly learned mambo/salsa skills. i recommed everyone go to el mason de pepe's
