Drawing inspiration from the Garden of Eden, designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz has created a unique sybaritic retreat offering rest, rejuvenation, fun and entertainment in a vibrantly pleasure-driven environment. His thoughtful interpretation reflects the youthful spirit of the thriving city of Scottsdale, while celebrating the senses with indulgence and amusement. Iconic 25-foot Mondrian gates fashioned entirely from tropical bougainvillea frame a sweeping entranceway covered by a virtual red carpet of stenciled leaves. As guests enter this modern Scottsdale hotel they are greeted with a cooling fountain and cascading white drapes. antique mirrors, a long serpentine bench supported by an imaginative large baobab tree and motifs of clouds and cherubs furthers the theme along with a scaled-up image of Durers Adam and Eve. Pink lighting illuminating the mirrored reception desk hints at the abundant pleasures found within.

not worth it

Give any high school senior a two hour decorating course on post modern, 20 minutes at Ikea, and a dated days in and you get ... the Mondrian. The price was ridiculous considering you are paying for the decor. The location is great but there are many newer and better and cheaper hotels within blocks. It was a rip-off to stay here. And you get to pay for internet.

A few shortcomings
JD Aug 31, 2009
The pool area was nice, however the pool staff treats everyone as if they were college kids at a spring break. I upgraded to ... a pool side room with a patio, and I was extremely disappointed. The patio was covered in dead leaves and the pool was completely blocked off with a locked gate. The bars and restaurants, although extremely expensive, were actually quite nice. The food took a long time to prepare, but was definitely worth the wait.

Party-atmosphere, a lot ...
Joanna Sep 2, 2008
Party-atmosphere, a lot of young people with drinks in a pool, lot of fun. Room: hotel is in an old building that looks kind ... of scary from the outside. Bathroom older and not nice. Cleaner did not clean our room carefully, never exchanged empty bottles of shampoo or body wash etc., left dirty glasses. Speakers inside the pool make it more fun to swim when everybody is gone from pool. Modern look of the hotel but when you look closer everything is old and used. Need renovations. Very loud air conditioning. Would not recommend.

Great for the Young Party Crowd
Frank Jun 9, 2008
The Mondrian is very chic and is true to it's Southbeach heritage. The decor is very modern, clean and comfortable and the ... location in old Scottsdale is great. Unfortunately, I am 44 and could not appreciate the loud weekend all-night parties in adjacent rooms and the all day pool parties were not for me. If you are in your twenties or early thirties and and like to party (very hard as I saw many a hotel guest passed out) then this is the place for you. All in all, Ill pass next time.
