This is a good hotel in an enviable location which prides itself on a personal level of service not available in larger properties. (06/07 JM) The exterior is a classical Ottoman wooden mansion. This is a renovated Ottoman-style mansion, lying close to the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia in the historic district of Sultanahmet. Within walking distance of the Grand and Spice bazaars, Ancient Hippodrome, Underground Cisterns and Topkapi Palace, the modern face of the city and Taksim Square are just a short taxi ride away.

Each morning a rich buffet selection of various fresh fruit and vegetables, daily baked bread, Turkish meats and cheeses is offered in the restaurant. There is also a cafe and a small lobby bar. The hotel does not offer lunch or dinner but there are a wide selection of different restaurants within two minutes of the hotel.

great value for location

The Historia's price, location, and staff were great. There was also free internet available on a computer in the lobby. ... They also gave us what I think had to be one of, if not the, best rooms in the place. We had a balcony with a sea view. However, the room smelled a bit, and for the same price I think there were probably hotels in the neighborhood with more modern decor and updated furnishings.
