Dirty
G7 Oct 8, 2009
While the employees were nice and my linens were clean, the shower curtain was moldy, the bathroom floor was tacky, the ... bathroom door had holes in it where some hardware had been removed, and the one elevator (by the valet) was genuinely greasy and disgusting. I needed a bottle opener at one point (something one typically finds in a hotel room by the door or bathroom) and there was none in the room, nor did the front desk have one. A fact they must have to confront often since they did not even have to bother to look for one. All clearly the result of poor management, as the staff tried hard to be nice.

Newly Renovated?
Buchek Aug 24, 2009
The hotel was clean and decent and in a great location downtown near the Capital building, but older and in need of updating. ... I stayed during a weekend and it was quite noisy on Friday and Saturday nights when the drunks returned from the bars between 1:30am and 3:30am. The temperature outside was above 100 degrees and all five drink machines were out of water.

Great location in downtown Austin
MKR and family Jun 19, 2009
The staff was very helpful at setting up an extra sleeping position in the room. The location was two blocks from the capitol ... building and easy walking to any place along the main drag, Congress Ave. The ROT was taking place in the city and it provided a lot of excitement on 6th Ave on Saturday night (after seeing all the bats fly out at dusk from the Congress Ave bridge). We had a great time knowing we were within walking distance of our room.

Orbitz booked me a rate that was $32 higher than what I could have been given if I reserved the room directly from La ... Quinta. Orbitz hid behind the fine print and did not honor their guarantee by refunding the difference as bragged about in their TV advertisements. Orbitz NEVER mentioned that you MUST let the Valet park your car in their parking garage for an ADDITIONAL $12.99 per day!!!!!

Excellent value!
Jamei May 31, 2009
By far the best value for staying in downtown Austin... this hotel is only 5 blocks from all the nightlife on 6th street but ... way cheaper than staying in the Driskill or something. (I love La Quintas anyway simply because they're pet friendly with no extra fees attached.) The parking is valet-only and costs an additional $13/night... but this is the cheapest valet charge I've ever come across, and they do have a 24-hour attendant so it's quick & easy to get your car when you want it. I'll probably stay here again next time I'm in Austin... it was perfect!

Simply Interesting
Agent REO Apr 22, 2009
I'm not at all picky, I've stay many times at Extnded stay Hotels, which are fine. First of all this hotel is located one ... block from the capital, which alone is worth the price. However, I got a room facing the street, and I could hear everything from the street, I wasn't able to sleep. The staff were friendly. However they charge my credit for the stay, even though I had already paid through Orbits. When I called the manager wasn't in to reverse the charge. It took 5 days to get the credit back. I would recommend the embassey, it's about a mile or so from the capital, but they have a free full breakfest which is to order, and free happy hour. At the time both were about the same price. Cleaning lacked something to be desired. A long hair in coffee pot. Tissue in both trash cans.
