Great Hotel
Marybeth Super Mom Nov 22, 2009
My fiance and I stayed here this past weekend and we couldn't have had a better experience. Reception was very fast and ... friendly (both checking in and out), the valet was a bargain for the area at $10 per day (weekend rate), and our room was very clean and very comfortable. Overall, the hotel was a great value and we will definitely return on our next trip to DC. The only thing that didn't quite make sense was the theme running through the hotel. The hotel was in a great location on Wisconsin Ave-- about a quarter of a mile from the Bethesda Metro Stop, a few blocks from the Woodmont Triangle (lots of dining options) and a short drive (or walk--about a mile) from Bethesda Row which has a bunch of shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. What made it even better was looking down on the American Inn thinking that we were going to stay there.
Traveler type: Couples
Bethesda Row is great to walk around at night and there is ample parking in several garages. Come equipped with coins (quarters, nickels, and dimes) for meters, which are $.25/15 minutes / 2 hour max until 10pm and free on Saturday and Sunday.

Have the concierge call you a taxi ahead of time. It is sometimes difficult to catch a cab. It's not NYC.

the point of "no return"
tracey-fun traveler May 28, 2009
my intention for staying at Bethesda Hotel was to be close to D.C.. I made reservations a couple months in advance. when we ... arrived the room i had requested AND followed up on was not available. I had requested 2 double beds seeing as i had my daughter with us. the result was a cot brought to our room. the hotel would relocate us the following day. there was a real nice lounge on site which was quite appealing until we visited it. the bartender, i don't think spoke any english, and was not attentive at all to the "paying" customers. we along with others waited a LONG time for service.they also closed at 10pm which is very strange. there was hardly ever anyone at the transporation desk which made it very difficult to make tavel arrangements. our second day I had left specific instructions that we would not require changing rooms because my daughter was comfortable enough and we had already unpacked so on and so forth. later that day i was approached that my new room was ready. I told them that a message was taken and written down that i did not want to change. (no communication) Then outside at the valet podium there was a sign indicating that there was a CHARGE for parking at the facility. I did not see that ANYWHERE on the website. I spoke with manager and luckily had the charges cleared from our rooms. I never heard of such a thing charging hotel guests to park. In any event we made the best out of our stay and on the day of departure i asked for an invoice in case of any charges that were due and to make sure the parking charge was taken care of and the gentleman at the front desk would not give me anything. he said that Orbitz handled that. AGAIN...unheard of. if that is the case why was my credit card imprinted on arrival?? It's really too bad that hotel is so poorly run. It's a nice facility that has the potential to be a GREAT facility. I'm hoping that these comments DO make it to the owner or the chief of operations. they NEED to know.. I do plan on sending them a letter but I haven't found the time. as you can see it took me a while to respond to your survey. I will be requesting a FULL refund or the equivalent in credit. maybe they were having a bad week. I think unlikely.

Our time clocks were too turned around to head back out for dinner, so tried the hotel restaurant. What a wonderful surprise! You could choose traditional entree size meals, or combine several "small plates" which is what we did. We had a top-notch mushroom risotto, flatbread pizza, and mashed potatoes. A strange combination, but really hit the spot.
