The Turtle Cay is a beautiful Key West style resort located in the popular south end of the beach featuring large rooms with fireplaces and private balconies facing two outdoor pools.
The Turtle Cay Resort features a large courtyard with two outdoor splash pools and two elevated whirlpools. A private parking garage is also available. The Turtle Cay Resort is one block from the Virginia Beach boardwalk two blocks from the Virginia Beach Fishing Center and two miles from the Ocean Breeze Water Park.

Overrated

Based on the reviews I was optimistic about the quality of the hotel. The facilities were nice and the location suited me, ... but there were several other disappointing factors. There was an ovular stain approximately 7 inches in diameter at the foot of one of the beds. I was rudely awoken at 6:40am by the neighbors "packing" to check out (there were several incrementally spaced loud thuds that were so loud that it literally sounded as if they were using their bed as a battering ram to break through the adjoining wall). When I finally became fed up and reported this to the front desk, they merely stated "they're checking out and it should be over soon." The parking garage located under the hotel was typically full (this must be common because they actually have parking permits for a garage attached to a hotel across the street). The vending machine was out of everything but bottled water. I can't speak about their pool because the hours didn't allow me to visit during my stay. The pros...overall the staff was very friendly, it was just across the street from the beach, the room was very large with a dining area and kitchenette. I would only stay here again if the price were drastically reduced. I would have rather stayed somewhere cheaper and gotten cheap service rather than pay what I did and have my expectations so inadequately met.

I am from the Virginia Beach Area so I immediately recognized the hotel from the picture on Orbitz. However, the picture on ... the website is from the hotel across the street which is on the beach. The Turtle Cay is not on the beach it is across the street. I choose this place on Orbitz because I was lead to believe it was on the beach. The desk clerk admitted that many people make the same mistake which really irritated me, since this hotel and Orbitz are pulling the "Bait & Switch" on the unsuspecting customer....ME!!! The room was okay, but check in is 4PM and check out is 10AM which really seems a bit early to me. I was on the first floor adjacent to Pacific Ave which is a major road with much traffic that crated a lot of noise. The Turtle Cay Resort is a Time Share Property!! Do not rent from them since they are not on the beach as they lead you to believe, and since they will ultimately want to sell you a time share rather than ensure your quality of stay. Oh, and at night when we returned we had to park across the street in the beach property parking garage. So I guess you could say my car stayed at an ocean front property that night but not me. I intend to contest the charge with my credit card company and intent never to use Orbitz again if this scam is not addressed and corrected. Totally ruined what I had been looking forward to and anticipated. Be known can afford to stay at the hotels on the beach. I would have gladly paid and extra $100+ or whatever to stay where I thought I was staying. Orbitz you should be ashamed of youself for hosting this type of property with such questionable practices.

The Turtle Cay was very much like home. We were looking to get away but not leave the home environment, so the Turtle Cay was ... exxactly what we were looking for. It was like we never left home, we loved it:)

The resort was a short walk from all of the attractions on the beach and just far enough away that plenty of relaxation by the pool can be found.

The Turtle Cay Resort in Virginia Beach was beautiful. I went here on vacation with my daughter and two grandchildren. The ... upkeep of the property was immaculate. The staff was friendly and informative. The room was beautiful and spacious. I will be sure to book there again.
