Great bargain for the family
Donna Oct 23, 2009
Stayed in a family suite with our 2 daughters who are in their 20's (a wine country intro for them). We had enough room in ... our suite, it was very clean, nicely appointed and comfortable. Free breakfast was super, great way to start the day (eggs made to order)! The location was convenient too! The courtyard landscaping adds to the relaxing feel of the hotel. Pool and hot tub were a nice bonus after running the marathon. The staff and front desk were very helpful with any request we had. Overall it was a great stay :) We considered this a great find & bargain and plan to return next year!

otel 6 trying real hard to be a 4 star h
traveler Oct 15, 2009
I rarely take the time to write such a letter, specifically given that I stayed only one night unexpectedly, but I felt ... compelling principally because I have appreciated the Embassy Suites as a brand that offers good if not great value for the money. While I do typically stay at higher end properties, Embassy Suites was always a safe bet if availability was hard to come by. Unfortunately this was such disjointed asset and offering that it made me question the entire Embassy Suites brand. Even my girlfriend who is typically more forgiving remarked that the property "looks like a motel 6 trying real hard to be a 4 star hotel". A 'relaxed, upscale, all suites environment it was not'. Rooms - 2 stars at best. Bedrooms had popcorn ceilings, showers had $10 fixtures, furnishings were a mix of great pieces and circa 1980 plantation. a $5K a room allocation paint would transform the environment. Managers Reception - the grand room in which it was held gives the appearance of an unfinished banquet hall in which chairs and tables are an after thought. The bar while offering free drinks does nothing to convey Napa nor the feeling of a 'managers reception'. From the slushy machine, to the random bottle of alcohol, sticking to beer and wine may symbolically represent the market a little more appropriately Outdoor Grounds - tasteful and certainly the most refined Property Amenities - antiquated, convention like and in need of refinement Staff - kind, attentive and ready to please; best part of the stay Simply put, for a location like Napa I would have expected a lot more, specifically considering many people pay premium dollars Please construe this as nothing more than constructive feedback from a reasonably frequent traveler. Its encounters like this that have me question a brand more closely, as opposed to following it with conviction. In short, if this was a Hampton in Oklahoma I would have expected it, but for an Embassy Suites in Napa it really needs work.

The good - The bad - The disappointment
bigboybb Aug 20, 2009
The public areas are absolutely gorgeous. The Swans in the atrium added a charming touch. My suite was spacious, comfortable ... and clean. BUT .... 1)No remote for the Bedroom TV. 2)No coffee cup(s) for the coffee maker. 3)No 'view' to enjoy. My room [& many others on any floor] only overlook parking lots and/or trees. 4)The Patio Door was hard to open & close (the rollers needed replacement). 5)The Bathroom Doors were like full-length shutters & one would freely swing open and block the thermostat while the other was spring-loaded and closed automatically. 6)One morning, when the maids were starting their housekeeping, they expected me to wait for an elevator while they (along with their carts) monopolized them to go to their work floor. I squeezed on one anyway! 7)The 'comp' breakfast ("cold" & "toasted" areas) offered a nicely varied menu, and plenty of beverage choices ... BUT 8)The "Cooked to order" Breakfast should be called "Some Eggs made to order". I love Eggs Benedict - but you could only get omelets [with some extras to choose from], scrambled, sunny-side, or over-however. Potatoes (1 style only), bacon and/or sausage were made ahead of time, and plopped on your plate if you wanted them. Pancakes (also made ahead) & syrup were "serve yourself" from 'warm' chaf's. PS: your food will be cold before you're finished eating (even if you're not talking). 9)My entire suite vibrated and had humming noises whenever something 'ran' nearby (some sort of hotel machinery) BOTTOM LINE: I was disappointed, especially at these prices!!

Nice Hotel in Great Location
TB Jun 23, 2009
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. Both experiences were good - the second time a little less than the ... first. It seemed as if the property had not had any updates since we had been there two years before. The A/C in our room did not work properly. After two days of trying to fix it, the hotel offered to let us switch rooms. By the it was too late and too much trouble to change. Even with the A/C problem, we enjoyed our stay. It is a great location to base your Napa Valley winery visits. It has easy access to both Hwy 29 and the Silvarado Trail. For our next visit, we may try another property - just for a change of pace.

I was extremely impressed with our stay at the Embassy. Large rooms, new feel and plenty of extras all made you feel like you ... should be paying more than we did. Cocktail hour and incredible breakfast were just some of the extras. Gym passes to a great fitness center made our Sunday morning a pleasure. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.
