Between the breakfast buffet and the manager's reception, I saved a great deal of money on meals. You can bring a few things back to your room for later and keep in fridge and reheat in microwave, if necessary, etc. This also means you can take leftovers home from restaurants.

Mixed Bag
Budget Business Traveler Mar 10, 2009
I traveled to Denver for a short business trip. I spent three nights at the Embassy Suites Tech Center and on the whole, the ... good and the bad averaged out to make it okay. On the plus side, the size of the suite was perfect. On the down side, it was very noisy because of the atrium-style hotel design--all of the noise carried up to all the rooms and I heard several guests complaining about it. The facility seems to host a lot of events--children's birthday parties, pre-prom activities?--so there were lots of screaming children--I mean LOTS, like dozens at a time, during the day and then gaggles of teenagers in formal wear in the early evening. On the upside, quiet hours commence at 10pm. On the downside, there were crusty biologicals on my bedding--both the bedspread and the only blanket. It was really disgusting and the bedding clearly hadn't been laundered. There were no spare blankets and I didn't trust them to bring me clean ones, so I spent one night sleeping with sheets and towels, which I trusted had been washed. On the up side, there were laundry facilities on my floor, so I washed the bedding myself. On the downside, even after I informed the management that I'd done this at my own expense, I was not reimbursed or compensated in some other way--and they didn't even apologize. The desk staff on the whole was unhelpful and rude. They didn't know anything about how the business center worked. The cleaning staff was excellent--although the maid busted into my room without knocking or announcing herself at one point and scared the bejeezus out of me! I suggest locking your door at all times. The cost of the room was fair, although to get the best price you had to book a nonrefundable fee, which is a big risk, considering that this place is kind of a mixed bag. The pool was acceptable. Small and overrun with children during the day, in the evening it was fairly quiet. It's too small to swim laps in, and if four people were in it, it would be too many, but it has lovely greenhouse-style windows and wasn't cold--although, it was also not warm. And the view is of the parking lot and a paved access area with concrete retaining wall. I, nevertheless, really enjoyed the time I spent there. The hot tub was fine. And there were plenty of towels and chairs. The fitness room was small, but adequate. The water pressure and temperature in my suite were great. The best part of staying here, really, was the breakfast buffet and the manager's reception in the evening. The buffet really is spectacular, although on weekdays the hours are not conducive with vacation schedules. You have to get up pretty early to get fed. There are fridges and microwaves in-room, however, and a small coffee maker, so it's possible to provision yourself well and save the time and money of seeking out restaurant food while staying there. The manager's reception is also really lovely. No one bothers you and the bartender was really nice. It's basically happy hour, with as many free drinks as you want, as well as some light snacks--chips, veggies and dip, etc. It was a nice way to end the day. Another downside: someone was always vacuuming, which meant that the carpets (garish) must have been clean--but that the vacuum seemed to be audible 24 hours a day. My bed was comfortable, although one of the windows in my room didn't close all the way--and it was very cold. I brought my own pillow, which I was glad for. The drive to downtown Denver was long, but since my business took me once there and once to Colorado Springs, the location was fine--I split the difference sort of. But for downtown Denver-based business, I'd stay in downtown next time. The location was helpful in that amenities were close by: Target, fast food, gas, etc. I was also disappointed that the Wi-Fi cost $10 per day. It should be an included amenity.

From check-in to check-out the staff was efficient, friendly and professional. The room was very pleasant, clean and ... appointment were well kept. The bathroom had a spa-like feeling. I'm in Denver several times a year and this will now be my hotel of choice when staying in the Tech Center.

Very Nice Hotel
Susan Jul 8, 2007
I purposely picked Embassy Suites because I know I'll be getting a nice hotel. Upon arrival, the staff was excellent. The ... room was great, clean, and very roomy. We had a little trouble with the air conditioning, and they responded immediately to fix the problem. I'm not used to seeing alot of kids when I travel, and the room next to me, the kids kept coming in and out of their room and slamming the door. Unfortunately, it sounded like they were coming in my room! The only other problem I had is I have to remember to ask for a room away from the elevator. We were directly accross from it on the 4th floor. The dinging of the elevator bell woke me up a few times. The staff assured me they would do everything they can to put me in a room far from the elevator on my next visit. All and all, it was a great stay. The breakfast was wonderful, as usual.

All different types of restaurants were close by, anything from fast food to Outback Steak House. Also, there was a Target, a Walmart and an Albertsons, so if you needed anything, it was right there.
