Comfortable Hotel, Great Price

We were in Irvine visiting our daughter at UC Irvine and needed a place to stay close to the campus at a reasonable cost. The ... reviews we read suggested that the La Quinta hotel rooms were recently renovated, and the price and location were right so we gave it a try. The hotel has outside corridors so is a little downmarket, but our room was recently renovated with decent modern furniture and had a very comfortable king size bed. The bathroom was clean with nice finishes, a welcome change in this price class in our experience. The free breakfast was great with very helpful staff making certain that you had whatever you needed. Entrees included fresh made waffles every day and scrambled eggs and sausage on one morning. Free wireless internet was also very welcome. All-in-all, a good experience at a great price.

The room/suite was large which was convenient. My job requires that I use the internet. The wireless interent service was ... excellent. The location is reasonably close to the John Wayne Airport but not close enough that noise from airplanes was a problem. I will be returning to Santa Ana & hope to stay at this La Quinta and Suites again.

Hotel does offer a free shuttle to a shopping area called "The District". Some nice stores, (huge Target), good restaurants. If you want to be out to stretch your legs, this is a safe, fun place to be.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast gave way to many selections. However, the rooms are in dire ... need of updating. My particular room had stains on the carpet, ripped cushions on the sofa. Very convenient location.

Checked in early without issue and was very surprised with the layout/decor of the room. I'm always cautious about hotels ... that have outdoor walkways with windows that are accessible to the passing public but after seeing the setup of the room, my worries dissipated. The view is magnificent if you like looking at freeways, other hotels, and ordinary streets but we weren't there for the view; we were there for a good night's sleep before flying out of John Wayne the next day, which brings me to location. If you're flying out of SNA, it's perfect for the price. The breakfast was typical hotel food; nothing to write home about but its adequate and edible. Quality place at a perfect price.

This is an older hotel, but has been renovated on the inside. Rooms have all the upgrades that you would expect from a ... upscale hotel, i.e. microwave, refrigerator, interior design, etc. It is clean, and convenient to John Wayne Airport. Staff is pleasant, & helpful. Breakfast is verbose with lots of variety. The on-line price was unusually low for a hotel of this caliber. It is located on a quiet street with a bunch of other hotels.

It was ok. My experiece was very plesant. The TV channels were very limited. No opportunity to watch favourite ... stations. However, it was'nt a very bad experience at all. The window blinds were so fited that it shaded off the sun rays from disturbing us.

The hotel was in a good location right off the freeway. The area where the continental breakfast is served is too small for ... the number of guest. A 15 minute waiting line for breakfast. Only 1 staff to run the area. The room had a 2" cockroach run across my daughter's shoulder that came from the pullout couch.

Newport beach was about 20 minutes down 57N which was accessible almost right out of the hotel parking lot, beach parking was limited. Long Beach was a little further but has many attractions and paid parking lots with validation we paid a dollar for 2 1/2 hours. Lots of shopping malls in all directions with in 15 minute drive.

Shopping, entertainment (movies)..etc are about a three minute drive from the hotel...and, the hotel also gives you 20% off coupon for "spoons", which is a bar type atmosphere...

We were able to meet friends at Balboa and spend a day at the beach, which was a short drive away. We enjoyed all the dining and nightlife in Newport Beach, then were able to come back to La Quinta and escape all the beach noise in the after-hours. We were happy with our decision to stay at La Quinta and commute to the beach.
