Historic Building

Our room was right next to a noisy intersection. The hotel was old and the window may as well have been open for all the ... sound proofing it did. Historically, the old very-well-working elevator was a trip!

Days Inn - Sonora, CA
geo Sep 28, 2009
The main benefit to staying at the Days Inn in Sonora is its historical charm. The main section of the hotel was built in ... 1896. By all means, if you stay there, save some money and take a room in the old section. It's about $20.00 less. Yes, the room is smaller, but the walls are thick, making for a very quiet evening. Also, our bathroom featured an extraordinary hand-painted tiled tub that could never be found in a modern hotel. The elevator from the lobby to the upstairs rooms was a real item of interest. It is billed as one of the oldest in California, It s a small device in which the passengers have to open and close the door by themselves before they ascend or descend. Ones like it are seen today only in old movies. Overall, our stay was quite inexpensive, comfortable and an historical treat. It was well worth the cost.

Eat at the hotel's on site restaurant, Christopher's Ristorante. The cuisine is Italian. It was a bit pricey but the food was well worth it.

Great location, price, and staff
Socks Aug 29, 2009
The front desk staffer was great. Upon check-in, we asked the lady to review directions to a couple local attractions. The ... internet directions we had were horribly wrong, and the staffer was able to point us in the right direction, even wrote clarifications on the directions we had printed out.

I only stayed one night. The whole place looks dated. The breakfast is not worth bothering with, disposable bowls, altogether ... tacky

Unforgetable trip back into time
Harley Chicana Jul 27, 2009
Have nothing to complain about. The front desk staff was exceptional. I was in and out with my "key" in minutes which was ... great considering how hot it was and how badly I needed a cool room to relax in. I loved the historical pictures displayed throughout the hotel, although I would have loved to have had more history in writing for visitors to read.
