It was a good price. The renovation was cosmetic. You'd have to be under 5' to fit under the shower head. But the bed was ... comfortable and the location was the best!

Good, friendly service, good location (not far from Beverly Hills, near to sunset strip and good restaurants, shops etc., not ... far to Melrose Ave.)Some small things in the room wer not in a good condition (e.g. broken lamp on tagle, toilett not totally ok, faucet in bathroom not ok but everything was clean and beds good. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, good price-service level. We were there at the beginning and end of our round trip (2 couples) an I would stay there again.

It was nice...but...
none Oct 6, 2009
I stayed a total of four nights at the Ramada Plaza hotel and for the most part I enjoyed my stay there(in West Hollywood), ... the hotel is centrally located and I would not say that everything is walkable but at least you can drive around the area and see all of the sights including Hollywood Blvd, Sunset, Robertson, and Beverly Hills with little trouble. However with that said I did have some serious issues with the hotel, one being, the toilet would not stop making noise, all night long I would hear the sound of running water, then on my second night there it sounded like the shower was leaking, I went to investigate and found the hallway to be soaked and water dripping from the sprinkler and the walls all over my things, I called the desk and they told me that someone fell asleep in the bathtub and they quickly moved me to another room but I still had to pack all of my things while getting rained on and move to another floor. With that said the staff was apologetic and helpful. Then on my fourth night I was awakened by a fire alarm in my room only, I went down to the front desk to ask why and it seems that they knew it was my room and they did not know why and asked me what I was doing, I replied that I was SLEEPING! They then told me that it goes off when people smoke in their rooms, which I took as an implication that I was lying which upset me. I felt that I had to have the security person come in my room to confirm that I was not smoking. So, I sit in the hallway for twenty minutes while the security guard tries to turn it off, he can not figure it out so I have to pack my stuff again and move to yet another room with a noisy toilet. At check out time I ask the front desk person if there is anything that can be done as I know everything was well out of their control but still, three rooms in four nights is unacceptable, I was told [...] I had to wait around for a manager to tell me that he would have to call accounting to get something for me. In the end everyone was polite but I will not only think twice about staying at the hotel but think twice about booking through [...] and I was told that I will only get one nights compensation which I think I should get more but being awakened in the middle of the night twice, and having to pack up and move makes a girl to tired to fight.

Excellent location for close shopping
Red Sep 1, 2009
We stayed at this hotel based on location and price. We had never stayed there before. We were there to visit our daughter ... and do some shopping. We did not use the pool, although it appeared to be very nice, or the excercise facility. There was a very good bistro about ten steps from the front enterance of the hotel, that served breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Great location

I was there for a film festival so I did not spend much time at my hotel. It was perfect for what it was - a safe place to ... come back to late at night. It is on a busy street in Boystown area and as a young girl traveling alone I felt extremely safe here. There were always at least some people on the street when I came back to the hotel late at night (Monday night seemed to be the busiest) and the streets were well lit I felt VERY SAFE but at the same time it was nice and quiet and peaceful. My room was completely quiet even though I was next to the pool. The only problems I had with the hotel were the room being so incredibly dark and the fact that there were ants in my bathroom sink every morning.

Great staff, Superb location, BUT
MamaLou Aug 6, 2009
Great staff and clean (if not especially comfortable) rooms coupled with the great location made our stay acceptable. If I ... got a superior nightly rate I might stay there again. The ambiance is curious, dark and offputting. The place seems dingy though it is clean. Conservation practices have resulted in dark rooms and impossible room climate control -- I talked with an engineer there about the latter and the system doesn't not permit refined adjustments of temperatures. The lobby is dark -- low light -- with dark furniture and dark carpets with raised edges that invite tripping. It's ugly and unappealing -- not dramatic or stylish. I called ahead asking that a room be ready when we arrived (earlier than check in) because my elderly Mother would be tired. The accommodation was made but the bathroom of the assigned room had been flooded by an overflow of the bathtub above and though the matter had been attended to the room was not ready for occupancy and we were moved to another. The second room had thin, dingy towels, no closet (but did have a hanging bar and some hangars over the mini-fridge and a little clearance beside the fridge for longer garments). Our coffee maker had no pot. Replacement bath towels were larger, fluffier and whiter. We had to ask for wash cloths. At bedtime I discovered that the comforter on one bed was quite damp across one side. I called for a replacement. No housekeeper at night. Front desk handled the second call. Security eventually brought a replacement comforter. Stopping at this Ramada did not enhance the pleasure of my trip neither did it spoil my trip, but I think everything about that property except staffing should be rethought and redone. Kudos to whomever is hiring and training staff. EVERY staffer we encountered was wonderful. No concerns about safety -- felt very safe.

Decent hotel in safe area
Lindsey Jul 30, 2009
There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. It is in a predominantly gay neighborhood. The hotel was ... kind of confusing, not all rooms have balconies and there is not much to do at the hotel at all. The rooms were nice...lot's of mirrors in strange places though. Parking was easy and convenient but expensive in my opinion, I think if you are paying to stay there parking should be free. Staff was very friendly and helpful but very slow when you needed something, our toilet broke twice which was slightly inconvenient when they took forever to fix it.

This was a great hotel in a great location. Affordable, convenient (don't even need a car for some places like Hollywood ... Blvd or Sunset Strip if you don't mind a little walk, but its LA so normally you'd have no choice but to drive) clean, easy-going, and nice pool.

intrusive housekeeping
LA visitor Jul 2, 2009
While we found the hotel to be pretty much as we expected there were two things that any perspective guest should know. ... First, at $27.00 per day parking is expensive and nonexistent on the street. Second, in the morning, well before checkout, we were shocked when housekeeping just opened our door and stuck their head in unannounced. there was no knock or warning of any kind. this sort of disrespect for a guests privacy is not what one might expect from a quality hotel. I won't go back again.

Was visiting a friend. Good location right in the middle of Santa Monica Blvd. The room was a little small but we enjoyed ... that it had a comfortable king bed and a great flat screen TV. We had a corner room with a balcony...that's a plus. But I still think the price is expensive after taxes plus parking is incredibly too expensive..$27 for one night.

The interior design of the rooms are great. Very techno but relaxing. Not a family location but good for singles and ... couples. Located in West Hollywood, it is in walking distance of Beverly Hills and Hollywood for those who enjoy mingling with the locals as well as the tourists. It will be my first choice to stay the next time I'm in LA.
